2018 GRATITUDE REPORT

1

Dear F riend of Hammer,

You have truly made a difference in the everyday lives of each individual who calls Hammer Residences home. In this 2018 Gratitude Report, you will see the impact your generous gifts made, helping to enrich the lives of the 1,932 individuals supported by Hammer in our group homes, apartments, and customized support services (CSS). You made a difference in many ways. Your financial support helped individuals lead active and full lives at work and at play within their communities. Whether it was going to a Twins game, out to dinner with friends, taking a class, or going to the gym to work out and stay healthy, they were enjoying all that life has to offer. Your donations helped us support our caregivers and gave us the ability to offer extra benefits such as emergency car repairs and education grants. Your financial support allowed us to help our staff in their greatest times of need. Your gifts of time and talent nurtured friendships and helped to form close relationships with the individuals we support that are so meaningful and fulfilling. We cannot do this work without you! We are grateful for your continued support, which provides individuals supported by Hammer Residences the opportunity to live life to its fullest. With gratitude,

Thank you for being a friend!

Check out the picture. Are you in it? We loved having you and your friends with us at Reach for Ralph in spite of the torrential downpour. Our new emcee, Joe Fryer from NBC, comfortably shared the stage with Stef, Cindy, Carolyn, and Carla, who shined in the limelight. Joe’s mom, Merilee, a Hammer caregiver, certainly helped to calm some of their nerves before taking the stage. “Lunch with Ted” was a live auction hit. Two generous donors won big and enjoyed a meal and a new friendship with Ted. And how about the Daniel and Ali video? Their story of friendship warmed many hearts. Check it out on our YouTube channel.

Thank You to Our Hammer Employees Thank you for all you do for those we serve and your investment in Hammer’s mission.

Hammer caregivers make contributions every day, supporting individuals with everything from basic needs to new-found independence. Employees have the opportunity to make contributions through payroll deductions and other gifts to a fund of their choice. In 2018, 87 employees donated over $17,000.

“I want to reach out and again thank you for green lighting my car’s repair through the Employee Emergency Fund. I’m incredibly grateful for the generosity of Hammer supporters towards staff, and I’m very glad I don’t need to worry about my car falling apart on the way to and from work! The car is running great now, with no more concerns. Thank you!” — Zach, Program Manager

“Six years ago, I was looking to get more involved with a local non-profit organization. A good friend of mine worked for Hammer at the time and suggested I give it a shot; after one Reach for Ralph event, I was hooked! Today, Hammer offers my husband and me a variety of ways to get involved, flexibility, but most importantly, the opportunity to work with a great group of people in order to support and hopefully better the lives of the extraordinary individuals that Hammer serves everyday — we couldn’t be more proud to support Hammer.” — Allison Bolgrean 29

Legacy Investors

Your planned gift is a demonstration of your belief in Hammer. Thank you for your investment; planning, and preparing for our future. Individuals served at Hammer will have good services far into the future, because of you. Thank you for your legacy gift.

Legacy Investors

Your lifetime giving is an investment in so many lives. We celebrate the chance to share our gratitude with you, who have given so much. Thank you.

Your lifetime of giving has provided Jim with a full life. Since 1966 when Jim was just 5 years old, he has been supported by Hammer caregivers, teachers, volunteers, donors, and you. Jim thrives in his community, active and engaged, and always supporting his favorite team, the Minnesota Twins. Jim even made his way to spring training thanks to you. Jim has always worked hard at his job but also counts on your financial support to live a full and meaningful life. Now 57, Jim has slowed down a bit, preferring to spend more time at home. His Hammer home is safe, secure, and 30
