Our Story
Hammer Travel’s story begins in 1923, when our parent company, Hammer Residences opened its doors.
The concept was simple; “be a community of people who respect an individual’s abilities, whose collective spirit makes dreams come true, and whose innovations lead the way.”
It was from Hammer’s commitment to service and leadership that the idea of starting a specialized travel company came about.
Hammer Travel materialized from the realization that Hammer has the experience, the staffing resources, and commitment to deliver a quality and safe travel experience for individuals needing support.
Since July 2009, Hammer Travel has been passionate about providing and enhancing travel opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities from around the country, and we look forward to new adventures every day.
Our Mission
Providing People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities the Opportunity to Experience Life to its Fullest
Our Vision
We believe meaningful travel plays an important role in the quality of life and that everyone should have the opportunity to experience it. Travel promotes intellectual growth, social inclusion, independence and self-confidence. Hammer Travel is dedicated to making the travel experience memorable and pleasurable for each person we serve.
Our Values
Respecting Abilities
Our trip leaders all have a residential services background and are able to provide the best possible care to support our traveler’s needs.
Reaching for Opportunities
Each trip provides opportunities to learn about the world while enhancing independence and self-confidence.
Realizing Dreams
Our trips are designed to promote individuality and create a unique experience for each of our travelers.
