the Heinrich Hammer company, which was founded in 1900, becoming well-known in the 50‘s with its “erbacher” brand through to the present company of HAMMER SPORT AG, a leading, modern and dynamic company in the leisure industry. The product range now includes almost 600 different items. HAMMER and FINNLO fitness equipment, MIKASA sports balls, HAMMER table soccer, HAMMER boxing and FinnSpa wellness products offered in more than 50 countries worldwide. The company‘s high quality standards is reflected in the constant stream of new innovations and continious growth setting new bench-marks in product design. Numerous patents and utility models document the capabilities and innovative image of the HAMMER SPORT AG.

This is to secure and maintain 100% customer satisfaction. HAMMER SPORT AG‘s main target is to produce a well known brand name with premium quality, product longevity and a high „fun factor“ usage.

If coming from Munich or Stuttgart change to the A7 motorway towards Kempten/Lindau at the Ulm/Elchingen junction. Leave the A7 at the Nersingen exit towards Ulm (B10).

1900 The history of the Heinrich Hammer company begins with a move. The founder actually lived in Bad Mergentheim. When he moved to Erbach, he wedded the daughter of a sawmill owner. This period marked the starting point of his business. 1902 The following anouncement was made in the official Erbach gazette on February 30th: “Client milling! – After my sawmill has been totally converted and newly equipped I am now able to cut any quantity of wood in a very short period and at the best price. I assure you of the best service and ask for your goodwill. Heinrich Hammer, sawmill and post manufacture.”

1910 He didn‘t stop at the sawmill. The following advertisement in the “Erbacher Zeitung” newspaper on December 10th reported a “pioneering” innovation by Heinrich Hammer: “Tomorrow, Sunday December 18th, at 3.45pm a lecture will take place in the Hirschsaal hall on the electrical works that will be opened. Lists will be circulated after the lecture so that light and power customers can register. Please support my business and attend in large numbers, yours sincerely, Heinrich Hammer.” The following notice then appeared in the state news in the “Erbacher Zeitung” newspaper of December 20th, 1910: “Mr. Schultheiß Schmid, who led the meeting, first gave a brief summary of the origins of the

present project and asked the many local residents who were present to support Mr. Hammer by becoming customers for his company’s electricity and power. After this speech lists were circulated so that clients could register, with the result that those present contributed 44 engines and over 400 lamps, so that the creation of Mr. Hammer‘s electricity works is assured.”

1925 This inventive manufacture first starts producing laminated skis and tennis racquets.

1945 After the Second World War the Erbach manufacturer becomes the leading German ski manufacturer with important innovations with the “erbacher” brand.

A new era begins: the waterwheel has now finally come to the end of its life and a Lanz locomobile with a generator is now supplying the community of Erbach with electric power, thanks to Heinrich Hammer. 1910 The company begins producing carts and sledges as well as tennis racquets and skis cut from solid wood and bent using steam.

1939 The Second World War forces a stop in technology. The company is integrated into the production machinery of the German military.

1931 Production of folding garden furniture begins.

1950 Huge marketing success in skiing and tennis now joins the advanced technology: Hanne Nüßlein, professional tennis world champion and Gottfried von Cramm play with HAMMER products, the legendary racquets “SpezialModell” and “Diplomat”.

1960 Heidi Biebl wins Gold Medal downhill at the Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley (USA) on erbacher Grand Prix skis. Numerous top skiers like Vogler and Heckelmiller use erbacher skis to achieve their wins.

1978 The short ski first hits the slopes, also an “erbacher” invention, this time in cooperation with Martin Puchtler, a skiing teacher from the Fichtelgebirge mountains.

The company produces the world‘s first plastic ski and is the second company in the world to develop and produce metal skis, after Howard Head. 1982 “erbacher ski tuning” with the CAT series, quickly becomes world-renowned in modern ski production and sets new milestones in modern ski design.

1982 Marks the birth of HAMMER SPORT, a 4-man company consisting of the grandson of the company founder, Günter Hammer, and his wife Christa Hammer, a sales manager and an office assistant. The headquarters are now in Neu-Ulm. HAMMER SPORT first takes over the German general distribution of the globally renowned MIKASA volleyballs (supplier to the Olympic Games, World and European Championships).

1989 HAMMER SPORT GmbH develops a home fitness equipment programme under the brand of HAMMER SPORT. This product programme is backed by intensive product support and a multitude of innovative ideas with which HAMMER SPORT ensures and develops its second place in the German market. This also includes the first fillable plastic weight in the world, manufactured by blow moulding – HAMMER SPORTS‘s first contribution to the fitness sector.

1989 The first cardio training equipment such as home training equipment and steppers complete the product programme. Focussed retail marketing with the logo subline “fitness with atmosphere” allows the brand of HAMMER SPORT to become a concept within the German fitness sector. The aerobics fitness trend, initiated by Jane Fonda in the USA, becomes well known in Europe with the actress Sydne Rome. HAMMER SPORT develops a special weight for aerobic fitness, exclusively for Sydne Rome, called “aerobic weights”.

1990 Further innovative product developments follow, such as the patented board computer for rowing machines. 1992 The HAMMER brand replaces the brand HAMMER SPORT and the logo is modernized.

Market introduction of the equipment series “Club-Line – Power meets Intelligence” in a modern silver/black look. The first class A ergometer available from German sport retailers for under 1000 DM is received by the fitness world with much enthusiasm. HAMMER SPORT develops the “Woodpecker” series of wooden fitness equipment in cooperation with the ELAN company. 1994 The HAMMER logo is supplemented with the subline “Innovative Fitness Design” and thus demonstrates the well-known strength of the company.

1996 Boxing and martial arts equipment is added to the HAMMER distribution programme. The full range includes 200 different products. 1999 The company becomes publicly listed in order to adjust to its growth and increased market importance. Market introduction of a new, innovative strength.

2002 As part of the dynamic growth of HAMMER SPORT AG construction begins on a storage and administration building on VonLiebig-Strasse in Neu-Ulm. Almost 600 different products are stored here in five sport areas in order to provide perfect service to retailers in more than 50 countries across the world. 2003 Laptop design on the computer, SDS 3D-saddle movement and hitech pedals in aluminium confirm the wealth of ideas this company produces. The HAMMER products in the TITANIUM brand series are introduced onto the market.

2004 HAMMER SPORT AG is awarded the innovation prize at the specialist sports fair ispo in the Summer of 2004 for the patented Nordic walking treadmill – Nordic walking in your own home is now possible.

2005 Introduction of the premium brand FINNLO. Particularly high quality requirements, outstandingmodern design, combined with most modern computer functions. Introduction of FINNLO Bio Force home gym with the revolutionary TNT resistance technology, setting a new milestone in the FINNLO fitness history. No weights - more resistance. Many magazine publications like Gala, Men‘s Health, GQ etc. symbolise the innovation and Market success of the product.

2009 Together with the top sport and lifestyle magazine Men‘s Health HAMMER SPORT developed the Men‘s Health POWERTOOLS, an innovative product range with the highest technical quality, feel and function.

2010 Relaunch of the HAMMER BOXING Brand. The HAMMER SPORT AG, presents a complete new redesigned product assortment at the ispo 2010.
