DOME-ITORY A DORMITORY project for the GUC Campus | Design Studio II 2022 PROJECT DESCRIPTION As a student entering a completely different space for the better, they start to gain new experiences and form a unique character. We researched different dorms and concluded that most buildings are either curved and organic, or more traditional and modern. Keeping in mind that the students would come from different districts, we designed the building to demonstrate how different forms can come together forming a harmony. So, by joining a geodesic dome with sharp angled triangles in a harmoniuos way, it reflects the student emotions and allowing them to feel at home away from home. A way to link to home is by using more local elements such as claustra parapets while also incorporating more Western elements such as curtain walls and glass facades.

PLAYFUL LEVELS

A MOEZ REDESIGN project | Introduction to Urban Design 2021 PROJECT DESCRIPTION El Moez is a loved spaced, with multiple hidden gems and under-utilised spaces. One of which was a demolished Safarkhana Palace, tucked away by the El Gamaleya Street. A small tertiary path leads to an open courtyard surrounded by residental buildings. The surrounding plot contains up to three elementary schools, multiple mosques, and a couple of factories. The design focuses on creating an interactive and gathering safe space for children and adults alike play area, leisure area, study area, and a regular seating area. The main concept “PLAYFUL LEVELS” came from the exsiting demolished buildings and their different levels and the main purpose of the design - seatings.

THE PEOPLE’S BUILDING SHANGHAI

A RECONSTRUCTION project | CAADCAM II 2022 PROJECT DESCRIPTION The project was a way to utilise our Rhino and VRay skills. Our assigned building to reconstruct was “The People’s Building, Shanghai” by BIG (Bjark Ingels Group). The shots included are the front elevation, a bird eye perspective, an ant eye perspective, and a top view.

VIERZEHNHEILIGEN A RECONSTRUCTION project | History of Architecture III 2022 PROJECT DESCRIPTION The project was a way to show our understanding to a specific building in a specific period of time using either 3DSMax or Rhino to reconstruct the building. The purpose was to show its structure and detailing, both in its exterior and its interior. This particular project was done on 3DSMax, and rendered on VRay. The original building was built 1743 - 1772 near Bamburg, Germany. Its style is late German Baroque/ Rococo, designed by Balthasar Neumann. Its unique design is the interior domes in the shape of ellipses, ovals, and circles. The main plan follows a basilica-type plan.

EARTH CONSTRUCTION Nuweibaa, Sinai A WORKSHOP project | Hand Over 2021

PROJECT DESCRIPTION The company “Hand Over” created the workshop as a way to promote Earth building and Vernacular Architecture as well as their own projects such as the Saint Catherine Clinic. As a group, we built a monolith with the Rammed Earth technique with a mixture of clay, gravel, sand, cement, and water, all done by hand tools. We also created Adobe Bricks and built a bench, with rammed earth flooring decorated with granite stones from the Red Sea.

URBAN SKETCHES Cairo, Egypt A PERSONAL project 2020 - 2022 PROJECT DESCRIPTION My favourite past time of sketching buildings, animals, human anatomy, and urban settings during “waiting periods” - waiting for the bus, waiting for the car, waiting for the lecture hall to open, waiting for a friend in a coffeeshop, waiting for my hair to dry.
