LEEDS IS READY FOR A BANGING 5TH NOVEMEBER!

Get ready to wrap up warm! Tens of thousands of people are expected to gather at the city’s biggest bonfire at Leeds Roundhay Park for their 10th bonfire night firework display. Admission to the display is absolutely free and great fun for all ages. In 1605, Guy Fawkes and a group of co-conspirators tried to blow up King James 1 and the Houses of Parliament in which is now known as the Gunpowder Plot. Before they were able to carry out their plan they were caught, and subsequently tor tured and executed. Every year since 1605, November the 5th, this date has become famously known for celebrating the Gunpowder Plot failure by Guy Fawkes by letting off fireworks and burning an effigy of ‘Guy’ on a bonfire. Still going strong, Roundhay Park and Leeds City Council say after last years success of over 70’000 people attending they are expecting ever more this year and are fully prepared for a great show. Roundhay’s bonfire will be lit at 7.30p, woth admission form 5.30p, amd fireworks being lit off at 8pm. If you don’t live near to the Roundhay Park however, don’t be afraid, Leeds City Council have other bonfire and firework displays at the following parks: • Bramley Park • East End Park • Middleton Park • Springhead Park (Rothwell) • Woodhouse Moor These bonfires are being lit at 7.00pm and fireworks setting off at 7.30pm it’s a night not be missed and definitely will be going off with a bang!
