FOOD MR CHUS

CHINESE RESTAURANT YUMMY! I have recently heard good things about this Chinese restaurant. All I can say is I couldn’t agree more. We arrived quite late on Monday evening but the staff were very attentive, food extremely good and you weren’t outfaced as you can sometimes find. We ordered a bottle of prosecco which was very nice and a wonderful lady who I assume is the manageress exchanged the champagne flutes for lovely crystal ones. I was surprised to find that this restaurant wasn’t on trip advisor so put them forward, they deserved good reviews for their hard word professionalism. We will be returning.in a few weeks for a birthday party and I can’t wait!

20

NANDOS PRINCES QUAY THE BEST Nandos is much loved across the country, and if your wanting home food, look no further than shopping centre Prines Quay, so you can shop and eat under one roof!

SLEEPERS BAR NEWLAND AVENUE UNBELIEVABLE Family run bar Sleepers is a little more expensive than your fast food chains, but its most certainly worth it. The food is all cooked fresh, and so tasty! Great for a nice relaxed atmosphere with lovely and helpful staff. Noone will be disapointed visting Sleepers Bar.

Hull

TRANSPORT

Unfortunatley, Hull is a much smaller city compared to London, Manchester, Newcastle etc. And so to have a tram or underground system for a much smaller population wouldn’t generate much use or money at all. And so the bus is your only realistic cheap transport form in Hull, unless you want to pay for a taxi!

BUSES East Yorkshire buses provide the most services in Hull, as well as company Stagecoach. From Hull Interchange, you can get to anywhere pretty much in East Yorkshire, with connections to all over Yorkshire. Prices are relativity cheap and within budget.

Hull

ACCOMMODATION

For this part of the trip, our team member stayed with a friend that they knew there to save on hotel costs, and have more to spend on other things like attractions. However they did some research on nice hotels in the area:

LAZAAT HOTEL

In the west of the city there is a beautiful little village called Cottingham, 25 minutes on the bus from Hull Interchange, Lazaat holds functions all year around, as well as a nice place for a short stay. With prices starting from ÂŁ30 a night, its still within budget and a really nice lpace to stay and breakfast included.

FOOD

You cannot without fail go to glasgow without visiting the Hardrock Cafe, with it being one of its most famous restaurants among the chain. With its distinctive ‘rock n roll’ theme, its a one of a kind. The food was absolutley amazing, and great service too.

36

WILLOW TEA ROOMS BRILLIANT Whether you are a fan of Rennie Macintosh or not, you’ll want to just pop into the tea room restaurant - it’s a really sensational design and taking Tea is almost decadent.

THE CRAFTY PIG BEAUTIFUL The food at the Crafty Pig was unbelievable. The portion sizes were huge that it was hard to finish the meal. The staff were really pleasant and friendly and the design in the building was very different and quirky, really suitable students.

37

Glasgow

42

p ATTRACTIONS = £84.50

TRANSPORT = £17.35 TOTAL: £303.55 + £53.75 OVER BUDGET So our team member went slightly over budget by £53, but for the money they spent they saw many sights and explored cities that had never been experienced. 44

Make sure you always know where your going and plan your route from A to B on public transport so your always in sight.

Words of advice from tripping.com Traveling alone is an incredible opportunity to learn about yourself and make new friends. But since you won’t have the support of a travel companion or group, it’s important that you’re prepared to keep yourself safe. Here are some tips we’ve put together to help you stay safe and have fun while traveling alone. Be smart when exploring a destination. Try to arrive in and explore destinations during the day. Leave the headphones in your luggage. Listening to music can distract you from what’s going on around you (whether it be potential danger or local culture). Dress appropriately and don’t wear your valuables - staying modest will help prevent unwanted attention. Be sure to research culture and body language before you head out - especially when you’re a solo female traveler. Maps can be your best friend, but they’re even more useful if you consult them before going out. Having your nose stuck in a map on the street, especially at night, is a strong indicator that you are in unfamiliar territory and could attract unwanted attention. Be confident - people are less likely to bother you if you’re confident and controlled. Always keep your bag, purse or wallet on you or in sight. Bring the right items with you when you go out. At the very least, always carry some form of I.D. and the number to your travel insurance so you can get medical assistance at any point. It’s never a good idea to carry large sums of money, so before heading out, think about how much you will need for your excursion and only bring what’s necessary. If you have credit cards or an ATM card, be sure to bring only one. That way if your wallet gets lost or stolen, you’ll still be able to access money while you’re waiting for a replacement card.
