01: CHARRETTE assignment: map a vegetable
the garlic bulb consists of solid, waxy cloves stemming from a root cluster, wrapped in multiple layer of fragile, translucent skin.

despite being thin and delicate in nature, the skin protects the cloves and the bulb as a whole, as well as connecting the individual parts of the bulb together

shaped by the concept of sound absorption and echo, the ‘tiles’ belie the function of their spaces.
the 1 person pod imitates a sound absorbing room, bestowing quiet and a sense of intmacy upon the user agora theatre by UNstudio
the 10 person pod opens upwards and suggests the properties of a room that echos - smooth, parallel surfaces.

pieces were created through a process of laminating and wetting. this allowed for them to be molded to their function

LIVE/WORK in PUBLIC/PRIVATE SPACE
the central corridor is public, but passersby are aware of the existence of people on both sides. as they walk past, they are ‘squeezed’ by the structure itself.
the translucent structures imitate the opaque forms and provide privacy without obscurity
