CLIENT TC Media GENRE Consumer Magazine, Branding PROJECT New food and health launch for the Canadian market. Fun, vibrant magazine aimed at 25-50 year olds. The brief was to create a brand that appealed to health concious individuals with a busy lifestyle. Packed with useful information and presented in a friendly package.

CLIENT Joseph Mimran & Associates GENRE Ecommerce Website PROJECT E-commerce website launch for Toronto fashion house Pink Tartan. Design was kept clean and minimal to allow the products to shine. Flashes of pink were utilized as a highlight colour.

CLIENT Penguin Books GENRE Paperback Book Cover Series PROJECT A collection of books by Howard Engel featuring Canadian detective icon Benny Cooperman. More soft-boiled than hard, Benny is as likely to be running away from the bad guys as chasing them. Light-hearted crime fiction with lots of black humour.
CLIENT National Film Board of Canada GENRE Packaging PROJECT Filmmaker in Residence is an innovative mixed media project that evolved over five years. To reflect the interesting combination of disciplines in this project, the design splices together typography and a banding effect. To add an extra layer, the packaging was overprinted with spot gloss-varnish bands.

CLIENT Samsung/TC Media GENRE Custom Magazine Publishing PROJECT Hands Design was commissioned by Transcontinental Media to create The List, a one-off magazine published for Samsung as part of the company’s 2008 Christmas promotional campaign. We combined bold typography, art-directed photo shoots and in-house photography with a festive spot silver ink to produce this vibrant magazine. In addition to creating the look, we contributed many editorial ideas.

CLIENT Canada Post/Totem Brand Stories GENRE Custom Magazine Publishing PROJECT Smartmoves is a bi-annual magazine produced by Canada Post and given away free with address redirection subscriptions. The goal is to help people organize their home moves and make decisions once they’ve settled in. Hands Design helped create a magazine that is bright, fun, informative and highly accessible.
CLIENT Flying Divot Media GENRE Golf Course Reviews Website PROJECT Dogleg.ca is a golf course reviews website in a similar vein to Yelp.com. Kerrin created a fun, easy to navigate site with integrated Buddypress to create a social network aspect to the site.

CLIENT AIR MILES/Loyalty Group GENRE Book Cover and Interior PROJECT LoyaltyOne, parent company of the AIR MILES Reward Program, selected Hands Design to create this corporate history and overview. Our brief was to chronicle the first 15 years of Canada’s most successful consumer loyalty program and showcase its major partnerships. To convey the unique personality of each AIR MILES partner, we traveled across the country photographing business leaders in appropriate environments. The content was presented in a refined yet stylish manner, with spot silver print throughout.
