New! Handwriting Without TearsÂŽ An Integrated Print and Digital Solution
For learning in the classroom or from home Page 2
Building Foundations for Success
A Message from the CEO Dear Friends, Today, as we enter a new school year with so much still unknown, you need solutions that prioritize flexible lessons, reach all learners, and build student engagement. You need solutions that embrace the best of what we know about how children learn, solutions that will help mitigate the learning loss of the last few months and provide critical support for key foundational skills. And ultimately, you need solutions that can be delivered remotely. Learning Without Tears has the solutions to help you build those foundational skills with effective remote learning plans and quality, direct, online instruction. Our new Handwriting Without Tears integrated print and digital solution (page 2) was built around a blended instructional approach. We have digitally translated our award-winning print program by building unparalleled interactive teaching tools with easy-to-use student applications. We have created individual student manipulative packs (page 23) to keep students safe, while providing essential multisensory experiences. Like you, we are focused on outcomes. Our products have been updated to offer access to quality resources wherever teachers and students happen to be this year. Keyboarding Without Tears (page 56) was updated to include new teacher resources and digital literacy materials. We have collaborated with Common Sense Education to include relevant and crucial digital citizenship instruction. We have launched a truly unique early learning program, Get Set for School (page 32). This research-proven, developmentally appropriate Pre-K instruction makes sure our youngest learners are kindergarten ready. And we are empowering all educators with our new Virtual Professional Development (page 66). We thank you for all you do, and would be honored to partner with you to help all your students build the foundations for success. Sincerely,
Terry Nealon, CEO

Get Set for School enables all children to be kindergarten ready in skills and content knowledge by providing every lesson, activity, and student activity book in Spanish.
Research Indicates: Spanish-speaking preschoolers experience significant improvements in their English skills when they have a good grasp of Spanish letters and numbers. An early education
program that connects children’s word and math skills in Spanish to those in English can increase school readiness for Spanishspeaking children. University of Missouri, 2016

Independent Writing
Students practice typing what they hear with dictation activities! An excellent exercise for building short-term memory review and note-taking abilities.
Students write their own responses to prompts while practicing their keyboard skills. This begins to lay the foundation for choice based test-taking skills and opinion writing.
Create your own keyboarding adventure with custom activities for your students to practice keyboarding with content from other subjects. It’s a great way to incorporate current events and build foundations necessary for strong, independent writing.

Here's What Our Customers Are Saying... As a Teacher... I had lots of different learners, with lots of different styles of learning. It’s very easy to scaffold. On Workshops... I was trained by Jan herself. We, as a staff, are hooked! On Vertical Cursive... I can tell you first hand that it is much easier for children to learn cursive without having to worry about the slants and the loops. On Print to Cursive Transition... They found it very consistent and easy to transition from printing to cursive with Handwriting Without Tears. On Teacher’s Guides... The lesson plans give you a lot of ideas and opportunities to enrich or support. On the Blackboard with Double Lines... The feedback from the chalk to the blackboard helps code their little brains when we are working on a new skill. The kids love the Blackboard with Double Lines and it’s my favorite too. On the nteractive Digital Teaching Tool... It really catches the kids’ attention and keeps them engaged. I think that every classroom in America should have the nteractive Digital Teaching Tool. On Differentiated Instruction... At the end of the day, we’re not all the same, we don’t work the same. You want to be able to meet kids where they are. The ability to have different materials in the classroom that address specific skills and needs of all kids is a wonderful feature of the curriculum.
The Adventures of Mat Man® Mat Man gets a letter from The Reverser. Reverser I’ll send him one of LWT’s Individual Manipulative Packs! The Wood Pieces are fun, but maybe they’ll teach him to stop reversing his letters.

On Tag Bags... They are so appealing and the diversity of skills you can teach is truly amazing. On the Connection to Early Writing and Literacy... You can’t underestimate the importance of letter recognition and the importance of learning to write. All of those pieces, if that foundation is not there, makes everything else twice as difficult to teach. Get Set for School is really special because it emphasizes those pieces and critical fine motor pieces, such as coloring. On Fine Motor Instruction... There is a connection between early fine motor and letter recognition that sets the tone for an incredibly successful academic career. The fine motor aspect of Pre-K and early learning impacts cognitive abilities, makes learning easier, and builds automaticity. Because of this, children don’t have to think as hard about simple tasks. Academically that makes a complete difference. On the Slate, the Blackboard, and the Magnetic Lowercase & Blackboard Set... The Slate, the Blackboard, and the Magnetic Lowercase Blackboard Set are the most genius and effective tools. The retention and the memory they get from (these tools) is outstanding. It never felt like learning for the kids. Kids really just thought they were having fun. On Manipulatives... Even if the children don’t know what they are, they are so attractive and engaging that they automatically want them. They can’t resist. Their eyes light up. They don’t know it’s an educational tool. They are excited to touch it and experience it.
On Keyboarding Without Tears... It’s a wonderful application to work with. The students are so energized by the program because it’s game-based, but also includes familiar topics and content that resonates with them. This is a very fun way for them to learn a life skill. On Enrichment Activities.. These are wonderful opportunities to extend the learning in areas like independent writing. On Hear It, Type It... This is powerful because it starts to build those note-taking skills students will need later in life. It’s never too early. On Student Success… My students’ speed and accuracy have increased tremendously. They are very proud to show their score after they take one of the Speed and Accuracy Assessments.
