ACCESS TO WATER ACTIVITY AND EASINESS OF CIRCULATION ARE TWO PRIMARY CONCERNS OF THIS PROJECT. LOCATED AT THE SHORE OF NORTH EAST END OF HIGH POND, THIS CAMP SITE SERVE RESIDENTIAL AND TOURIST PURPOSE. THE HOUSES ARE ARRANGED TO FACE TO THE WATER AREA BUT WITHOUT SEEING EACH OTHER. KICKAPOO HAS SUFFERED ECONOMIC DIFFICULTIES SINCE THE 2000, AND THE STATE HAS THOUGHT MANY WAYS TO HELP IT OUT. WATER ACTIVITY IS ONE OF THE MOST ADVERTISING PROGRAM. THEREFORE, THE OVERALL RELATIONSHIP OF THE PROGRAMS ARE ARRANGED BY THE MAXIMIZED ACCESS TO THE WATER. THE CAMP, COMMAUNITY CENTER, AND DOCK AREA ALL FACE TO THE WATER, AND THIS CONNECTION CREATES A CLOSED RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THEM.

FILM REVIEW
Documentary making is a process of (self) discovery. (Upper left) Jiadong Cai (Hank) is describing his challenges in finishing long projects. The team is working on an interview at night.
WEEKLY HIGHLIGHT
P3
Here we present our FAVORITE among the screened films in CIFS by our editors, a movie so liberating and humane that you will regret not seeing it soon yourself.
P4
TALENTS WANTED
The film reviewed this week is one of CIFS’s kind, exploring the stories and sensitivities that normally marginalized yet could be essential to our happiness.

The project is organized around four themes, touching on learning, living, transnational education and also cultural experiences. The team has been talking to students from different regions of China who major in various disciplines such as architecture, engineering, art history, and sociology. Our interviewees also represent students at different stages of their programs at Illinois from sophomore to senior students.

CHINESE INDEPENDENT FILM SOCIETY (CIFS)
A Mid-term Review CIFS has embarked on a new documentary project this Fall semester to shed light on the community of Chinese students on UIUC campus, which now has one of the largest international student population in American universities. Our production team is now conducting and recording in-depth interviews with voluntary participants to understand their major challenges in academic and everyday life.
Time for our mid-term evaluation. CIFS has screened by far seven independent films for our members this semester, two of them our own production, and successfully led a post-screening discussion for each. It has been amazing how much we have enjoyed and learnt together as a group. Here is a brief review for all of you!
Days After n Coming (2011) A documentary by Dir. Chun-Yip Lo from Hong Kong.
Xu: A Facetious Chinese (2013) Dir. Kunyang He This is the second film produced by CIFS. It was screened on Oct. 17th for both old and new members and we had a discussion on the differences between “facetious” and “humorous.”
Road to Fame (2013)
Mosuo Sisters (2012)
This is the first independent film by Kunyang He.
