Directions for cutting pieces:
Purchase piece of 1” thick Sapele wood that can be used to cut 4O 2” x 15” pieces -1 Be sure to keep the pieces in the order they were cut -2 Cut piece into 2O 2” wide x 15” long x 1” thick strips with the grain direction running vertical -3 Use the band saw to cut wood in half so there are 4O 2” x15” x1/2” pieces -4 Be sure to keep the pieces in order facing the piece they were cut from -5 Use the planer to thin the strips to a 1/4” thickness -6 Make a jig that sits at 15 degrees to run across the table saw -7 Cut all edges of the 4O pieces to 3O degrees using the jig and table saw -8 Add a 3/8” wedge to place in the jig and cut the other edge -9 Use the orbital sander to sand down all pieces before assembly -1O Set aside 2O pieces, these will be used for the sides of the box-11 Cut the other 2O pieces to length at 14 1/2” -12 Assembly the lid and base with these 2O pieces -13 While the lid and base pieces are drying cut the other pieces -14 Use the miter saw rotated at 45 degrees and the blade rotated at 45 degrees to cut the ends -15 Cut to length at 13 1/2” using the rotated miter saw -16 Assemble the side pieces with these 2O pieces -17
Directions for assembly:
Take ten of the pieces for the lid that are cut to 14 1/2” -18 Apply glue down both sides of the angled pieces -19 Make sure when you glue the pieces together they for a “V” -2O Glue 1O “V’s” together to form 5 “V’s” and then glue those together to for the lid-21 Repeat for the bottom and both sides -22 Glue the two edges to the bottom to for 3 sides, leave the lid unglued -23 Sand all sides and apply the finish oil, leave to dry to 24 hours -24
