ARCHITECTURAL INTEREST & PROJECTS I am primarily interested in how architectural spaces can create positive interaction between different groups of people, particularly concerning the integration of marginalised groups in society. My undergraduate dissertation entitled ‘The roles and responsibilities of architectural interventions: Attempting to integrate disempowered communities into modern society with respect to preserving or revitalising cultural identity’ analysed an existing project run by FAST charity in Romania, whose primary aim is to integrate local marginalised Roma communities by working with the residents to develop sustainable housing and infrastructure. Following on from this, I went on to establish Tarlungeni Open Space Project alongside the same charity (see overleaf). In my studio work I became interested in how 'dead' or disused space can cause or exacerbate social segregation between different communities. I proposed to inhabit these spaces with installations that would create lively public interaction and cultural exchange. I explored the themes of display and clear visual links to encourage positive communication between users. I thoroughly enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds and developing ways of empowering them to express their views and opinions.

I am also very keen to be on site and get involved with construction work. Past experience has accelerated the development of my knowledge and understanding of suitable building techniques and the logistics of managing the construction process.
