Hastings + Chivetta’s biggest specialty is recreation and wellness centers.

The main subcategory of focus within the broader umbrella of recreation and wellness is university rec centers.

My main roles in these projects were coloring plans and sections, especially for client presentations, and rendering initial design concepts. I had the beneficial privilege to get to work directly with the designers in the firm in order to accomplish such tasks.

CAMPUS MASTER PLANS

Another large focus of the firm is master planning for college and university campuses. Similar to my role on recreation center projects, I was largely responsible for coloring site plans and individual building plans, as well as renderings, for client presentations.

It also included sitting in on planning meetings with these colleges and universities, and at times adding a bit of input. While campus master plans do not necessarily fit within the realm of healthcare, I think it sits quite fittingly within the realm of wellness. As designers of the way students live and study, we have the opportunity to create healthy environments for them.

Another specialty of Hastings + Chivetta is high school facilities. They have garnered respect throughout the St. Louis, MO high school community for renovations, master plans, expansions, and athletic facilities. My role in these projects remained consistent: coloring plans and renderings. The highlight of my time at this firm was the opportunity to work on Cor Jesu Academy, my alma mater. I got to attend client meetings and consult/advise directly with the designer.

SCIENCE LAB TEMPLATES

In recent years, Hastings + Chivetta has been looking to shift and expand their focus toward university science laboratories and facilities. I was tasked to render a number of templates with various material options based on existing Revit models of chemistry, simulator, high bay, and biology labs.
