What inspired you to start a blog? I have always had a passion for writing and photography so it was inevitable I was going to discover blogging. However, the original reason I began blogging was to document my Year Abroad in Brazil in 2013 through ‘Brazil and the Nut’. In 2016, Han Meets World was born out of a desire to document my journey through my career and adult life. We tend to see the end product of an individual’s success and not so much of the messy in between. What is your proudest achievement when it comes to your blog? I was invited to judge on a panel for a teen social enterprise project with NCS London. It felt incredible to be able to impart my experience and knowledge to the next generation of leaders. How do you balance your blog alongside your everyday life? Planning. Planning. Planning. And getting that it is a part of your life. Around six months into the Han Meets World journey, I had to remind myself that my blog is not a chore, but a passion and a part of me. Like a class or meeting, it is a regular appointment in my week. What is your motivation for keeping your blog going when you get writers’ block? No matter how low or demotivated I feel, my mission always puts me back on track. My ultimate blog mission is to inspire others to live their dreams. Remembering this puts me straight back on track again every time. What do you know now that you wish you had known when you first started? Keep going. I started my first blog in 2013, and I dropped it after eight months out of fear of what others were saying at the time. It was much less understood at the time. I would like to be able to say to myself back then to forget about the comments and follow the joy of it. And follower numbers do not count for everything! What is your best advice for someone considering starting a blog? If you have something to contribute to people, then just start and don’t worry about ‘your first post looking perfect’. If you have something of value that you believe is missing in the market or you could spin your own view on, then just start and find your style as you go along. Where do you find inspiration for your blog posts? My mission inspires posts because there are many aspects to fulfilling your dreams. While motivation is necessary, wellbeing is an important part of the journey as well as the lows that are inevitable at some points along the way.

AN EXTRACT FROM... ‘Clearing out: Ibiza holiday outfits’ So if you’re like me, you love to dress up. But if you’re also like me, you like to declutter. When one chapter closes, I like to welcome a new one by ditching things that don’t serve me anymore. Namely, clothing that doesn’t fit or act as an extension of who I am. I lost two dress sizes over the course of the last year which was not so much a weight loss thing as a discovering what made me put the weight on in the first place. I LOVE food, don’t get me wrong! How could I have lived in Spain and Brazil without loving food!? But there have been intervals in my life where I’ve had a toxic relationship with it in order to bury stress or anxiety or fear. Sometimes anger or hurt...

What is your proudest achievement when it comes to your blog? This may sound really cliché and cheesy, but I am so proud of putting myself out there. I feel like there is a kind of vulnerability when sharing your blog for the first time where people you know will see it. I’m also really proud of how many blogging events I have been to alone, and the fact each time I have walked away with new friends.

How do you plan blog post ideas? I actually made myself printouts to organise my ideas. When I can I like to post twice a week, so I have a sheet which each Wednesday and Sunday I write down and then I allocate the posts a certain day. For each of the posts, I also have sheets that I print out with tick lists such as written, photographed, edited, and posted; as well as a rough outline of what I want to include in my post.
SCHEDULE:
What is your biggest challenge when it comes to blogging? I honestly believe any student that can also run a blog on the side of their degree really impressive. I think it is difficult in both the aspect of time and money. As a student, I have to put my education first, so sometimes my blog really suffers, especially as the winter rolls in and we lose light really early, you have limited time you can shoot. With people constantly blogging about fashion, beauty, and even reviews of restaurants, it can be hard as a student relying on student finance to keep up with some of the other bloggers. What is your favourite social media site and why? I love photography, so my favourite social media used to be Instagram, but nowadays I think it is such a struggling platform for those with fewer followers. So, I would definitely say my favourite now is Twitter. I also feel like Twitter has much more of a community feel to it, and it’s easy to keep up and talk to other bloggers. What are your top tips for blog photography? I think just like any aspect of blogging, the best advice is to do you. If you don’t like the whole marble background, don’t do it, if you prefer bright and busy photos, do that. I feel like the photographs really help tell you a lot about the blogger themselves and their style. I do think that blog props, even if it’s just stuff you already have, can really help transform photographs as well. What blogging goals do you hope to achieve by the end of 2018? Unlike many, I try not to focus on followers or views, so I suppose my main blogging goal is just to be consistent with posting high quality posts. I graduate university halfway through 2018, so I hope that when I enter full-time employment I find the time to keep up with blogging, as it is such a great creative outlet for me.

One was from my Naini, which included a cheque, and the other two from my older sisters. My eldest sister Lucy sent me a card that explained how she was going to treat me to a weekend in Manchester with her! One of my sisters, Hannah, sent me this card with clues in, which at the end said that she had bought us tickets to Friends Fest. This was the first thing I opened, and it actually made me cry because I really wanted to go last year but the tickets sold out super fast...

What inspired you to start a blog? I have always loved writing and being creative. My mind never stops and I am always thinking of new ideas. I decided I needed a place where I could share these ideas and show the potential of my creativity off to its fullest. I really enjoy everything that comes alongside blogging such as, online presence, making new friends and writing posts. It gives me such satisfaction that no job has ever been able to give to me yet in my career. What is your motivation for keeping your blog going when you get writers’ block? Writers’ block is a something that happens quite frequently, especially since I increased my posting schedule. Being productive and being able to get lots of posts written really helps to motivate me even further. I love to see my blog grow and expand. It reminds me to keep doing what I’m doing. What is your best advice for someone considering starting a blog? Just do it! I honestly think it was the best decision I could have made. It does involve a lot of hard work and it can be very time consuming, especially if you’re keen on promoting your blog on several platforms in order to get your blog noticed. Before I started my blog I spent around 2 weeks researching before to see how I could create a successful blog. I feel like this helped prepare me a lot. Being yourself and posting what you want is really important. What is the best and worst thing about blogging? The best thing about blogging is being about to have somewhere that I can express my feelings and opinions and really allows me to write the words that I’m not able to say. The worst thing about blogging is that it is constant and never stops. It’s noticeable when you aren’t active for a couple of days. What is your favourite blog post that you’ve created and why? I feel really proud of my lifestyle posts. I feel most positive about posts that aim to lift people’s spirits and help others. I started this blog so that I wouldn’t feel alone. I’d like to think that other people could look to my blog for advice and my experiences and not feel alone and relate to them as well. What is your biggest challenge when it comes to blogging? My biggest challenge is not comparing myself to others. During my blogging journey, I have come across many bloggers who I would consider as more successful than me however, I need to keep reminding myself that what others are doing is working for them and what I’m doing is working for me.

AN EXTRACT FROM... ‘What’s in my bag, you’re asking?’ I am in love with my bags. But usually cannot be bothered to put my things from one bag to another, especially not on a regular basis. Unless you call that ‘once a year’. So naturally, my bag gets filled up with many necessary and not-so-needed-but-still-good-to-have objects. For the purpose of this blog post, I decided to empty this black hole of mine and write a brutally honest description of its contents. Purse. This one is an obvious one. Very much needed, very much loved by me and used many times which is why it’s actually losing its original pattern on it and turning into a weirdly shaped mass in an odd colour...

How did you get started with your blog and how has it progressed? I started my blog as a way to show my photography work once I had I left college. I knew this was something I could do alongside working. I have always been inspired by other blogs and thought it might be something that I would enjoy and love to do.I I’m still getting started with my blog and learning along the way. I am looking forward to seeing how it is going to progress.

What is your favourite blog post that you’ve created and why? I always make sure that I’m proud of every blog post I post because if I’m not happy with it I don’t feel ready to post it. One of my favourites is my Autumnal photoshoot because even though the writing didn’t take very long to create I am really happy with the overall photos I got from it.
SCHEDULE:
How would you describe the style and content of your blog? The content of my blog is quite varied as I like to focus on photography shoots I have done as well as sharing reviews on makeup and skincare products and my experience with them. I have recently started a new series on my blog where I show what nail polish I am currently wearing. What is your proudest achievement when it comes to your blog? My proudest achievement so far is when I reached over 200 views on my blog, although it might not seem like many to most people. You have to start somewhere! I have since reached over 700 followers on Twitter which I’m really pleased with because it’s such a great platform to interact with other bloggers. What is your best advice for someone considering creating a blog? My advice would be just to go for it and get started. It’s such a great idea even if you don’t think anyone will read it but you never know. There is an audience out there for everyone and always people who can relate to your content and share the same opinions as you. How do you plan blog post ideas? I don’t have a strategy for planning blog posts, it definitely varies! I will usually start by writing an idea down that has come to me and then one day decide that I want to post it and go from there. Majority of the time I don’t stick with my first idea as I change it and develop it to something completely different. Do you set goals each year of what you want to do with your blog? As of yet I haven’t set any goals for my blog as I’ve just been enjoying posting and gaining an audience.

I only picked up 2 products from the range which were the body mist and the shower cream. I love both of them and they smell amazing! The first product I picked up was the Shower shake, which I love using. The shower shake is a body wash that moisturises the skin as well as cleans it. It leaves your skin feeling really soft so its great to uses on holiday after being in the sun all day. The next product is the body mist which again I love using for the summer. Both of these products have a really nice summer smell to them...

How would you describe the style and content of your blog? I would say I try to be as laid back as possible. I try to portray as much as my natural personality as I can with my posts, almost as if I am talking in person with my friends. Where do you find inspiration for your blog posts? I find inspiration everywhere. When I go shopping, I think about products that I could review all the time. When I’m in a coffee shop I think about personal posts I could write about my life. What is your favourite social media website and why? Twitter. I think it is amazing for promotion and it allows you to meet so many like-minded people. It really is a fantastic platform for bloggers, both for business and personal.

How do you plan blog post ideas? I basically always keep a little blog notebook on me at all times. With those ideas in hand, I then start thinking about what photography is needed with it. Once that is sitting ready in a blog template I then get creative with the words. I love to see the whole process come together. It’s a life changer to have that little book handy at all times! What do you love most about blogging? I love the individuality. I follow a lot of different blogs, whether they are book blogs, fitness or even fashion. I just love how many of us there are. I never have to pick up a magazine anymore because everything I could ever need is in the blogosphere. For me, I love the interaction and I love the fact I get to interact with so many amazing people and brands.
INSTAGRAM: INSTAGRAM:
Is there a type of content that you would like to produce more of? I would love to focus more on my fitness posts as it’s something I’m really interested in. I just need to do more research and try new things. I would love to be more of a fitness and fashion blogger.
TWITTER:
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you first started? I wish I knew how tough it is out there for us bloggers. There is so much competition and always someone doing better than you. It is hard to keep up with the basics sometimes but it is always important to remember your individuality in offering your personality and not becoming a clone of what everyone else is doing. I wish I has known this so I could have created content that makes me happy.

What is the best and worst thing about blogging? The best thing is the community and my ability to express my views online to people who care about them and feel a similar way. I think the worst thing is possibly finding the time to sit down and write a post. I find it difficult to manage as I currently work full time and get very tired from my job, its so worth it though!

What is your proudest achievement when it comes to your blog? So far I’ve been lucky enough to be nominated for 5 awards within 2 months of blogging which is absolutely crazy! When I first started I didn’t expect to get any sort of response like I have! My overall proudest achievement has got to be plucking up the courage to publish my first post. How would you describe the style and content of your blog? My blog mainly focused on beauty and lifestyle posts however I like to include posts about my personal life and places that I travel.
SCHEDULE:
Where do you see your blog in five years’ time? I hope that I’m working alongside make-up brands that I admire as well as continuing to review make-up. Other than that I am happy with how my blog is progressing. What is your favourite blog post that you’ve created and why? My favourite post has got to be the one featuring my trip to the Harry Potter Tour. I found it really fun to relive whilst writing about it and talking about my experience. What is your best advice for someone considering starting a blog? Don’t worry about what other people think. Do it for you! Don’t write a blog to fit in or to impress others. Write a blog for the right reasons and because you want to and enjoy it! What inspired you to start a blog? I have always had a passion for make-up and beauty. I found that a lot of my friends would ask about it. I also loved reading other peoples blogs and had admired them for so long. It felt right to start creating my own. How do you balance your blog alongside your everyday life? I choose two days of my week to focus my time spending writing and publishing blog posts. It’s finding that balance between work, blogging and my social life but it’s okay if I don’t stick to a specific upload schedule.a schedule.

AN EXTRACT FROM... ‘Why I went cruelty-free’ I’ve only recently switched to cruelty-free products (approx 1/2 months ago). The reason is that I LOVE animals before when I used all types of makeup I tried not to think about the fact it’s tested on animals but still used it. I saw all the documentaries, articles and pictures about animal testing and yes it did make my stomach turn but I turned a blind eye to it. My decision to go cruelty-free came a lot later though, it wasn’t through watching videos it was just a snap decision that I made (and thank god I did). I think I was just going through my normal routine of putting on my makeup when I thought “why am I using this makeup when animals have been experimented on for it”. This is why I use cruelty-free products...

What inspired you to start a blog? I was at a point in my life where I was feeling very empty and lost and like I had no direction. I then discovered Hannah Witton on YouTube and was amazed by what she was doing with her life: she has a successful YouTube channel, a blog, wrote a book, and keeps herself busy with her talents. I wanted to do more with my life like she was so I started that the first step was to start up my blog and get my writing out there to be seen. How has your blog progressed since you first started? When I first started, I literally started my blog so that I’d have an outlet for expression. I didn’t think that anyone other than me and my family would read it, but since December I’ve attracted a follow and been able to work with brands and it’s all so new and exciting. I can’t wait to see where my blog takes me.

What is your favourite blog post that you’ve created and why? I did a piece in which I discussed my experience with racism as a black girl in a modern world. I was really scared to publish it because it’s not really something I talk about ever, but it received an amazing, personal response and I was overwhelmed with the support. How would you describe the style and content of your blog? I kept trying to put myself in a box and decide on a “niche” but I really couldn’t. I realised that my blog is literally just a reflection of me: it is my thoughts and my opinions and things I want to review or share with the world. Essentially, it’s me, in text on a screen. What is your favourite social media site and why? I love Twitter – mainly because I’m very chatty so it means I tweet a lot of nonsense a lot of the time. Also, I feel like Twitter is the main place to interact with other bloggers. I’ve made some of my best blogger friends through Twitter. How do you balance your blog alongside your everyday life? It’s worked pretty well for me so far, because I have to do something with my hands at all times (when possible). So, if I’m sitting in front of the TV, or lounging around in bed, I’ll pull out my laptop and start blogging. My main “strategy” is to write as many posts as I can when I have the time, and then just schedule them regularly so I always have a flow of posts going out.

AN EXTRACT FROM... ‘Growing up with modern racism’ I find it strange looking back to when I first realised racism existed. Nobody is born with an inherent understanding of racism, it is something that you learn as you grow up in this world and something that you, unfortunately, just come to accept as a way of life. As a child, my dark skin and my friends light skin did not seem remotely relevant; I went to a private primary school and was one of four black girls in my year, but I never remember noticing it as a fact, or having it be an issue. Black, White, Asian, Hispanic… It didn’t matter. We were all four-year-olds and we were all starting school, that was the only thing any of us saw when we looked at each other...

What inspired you to start a blog? The main reason I started a blog was because my best friend also had one and I loved how happy it made her. In addition, I have always loved writing, especially creative writing, but as I grew older there became fewer opportunities to do this. So when I went to University I decided to start a blog to keep up my writing skills and because I genuinely enjoy it. What is your best advice for someone considering starting a blog? Post what you want to post, not what you think people want to read. It might be easier to get followers through posting about trending topics but ultimately you are not going to enjoy blogging if you aren’t genuinely interested in what you are writing about. It may take longer but you will get a following through similar-minded people who genuinely enjoy reading your posts.

SCHEDULE:
Who is your favourite blogger to read? My favourite blogger at the moment is Sage Olivia. I discovered her blog because I was looking for travel blogs and she did a series of travel journals about her summer trip around Europe – I was so incredibly jealous as her trip looked amazing! She also writes about fashion and lifestyle. What is your biggest challenge when it comes to blogging? Time Management. Between University and a part-time job, spare time is hard to come by and sometimes all I want to go is curl up with a blanket and hot chocolate and watch Netflix. I’ve found the best way is having scheduled time each week to write the post and to reply to comments, as well as having a spare post written in case you don’t have time to write a post for that coming week. How do you plan blog post ideas? I use the notes app on my phone to write down ideas when I’m out and about and then a spreadsheet on my laptop that has the dates I post and then the blog post I’m hoping to upload on that day. This ensures that I don’t upload too many similar posts in a row and also keeps track of what posts I need to write. Where do you find inspiration for your blog posts? Honestly, everywhere! I blog about places I have seen and activities I have done - I like to think of my blog as my online journal. What do you love most about blogging? The community. Everyone I’ve spoken to and have met through blogging has been genuinely really nice and I love how we all support one another.

How has your blog progressed since you first started? I started out using Blogger as the platform and writing about my life however, looking back I feel I was mainly moaning about my life! However I am glad to say my blog has developed and now I have my own self-hosted WordPress site with my own domain. I have been lucky enough to be given the opportunity to work with brands and subjects that really matter to me.

What do you love the most about blogging? The community! I have been lucky to meet so many great people through blogging and I am now part of some amazing group chats on twitter. It’s so great to have a group of supportive girls that are there for me when I need them or need advice on my blog. What is your biggest challenge when it comes to blogging? Finding the time to get everything done! I currently work full-time in a betting shop and that is currently my main priority and blogging comes second to my job. What is your favourite blog post that you’ve created and why? My favourite post I have created is the post featuring an interview with Chrissie, the brains behind The Cuddle Bed Company. She was so inspiring and it was during the making of this post that I decided to start making my blog a serious thing and not just a hobby.

How do you balance your blog alongside your everyday life? My blog and my life have become one thing! My full time job doesn’t really allow me to have my own personal time so outside of work I enjoy spending my time online almost like an alternate reality!

What is your best advice for someone considering starting a blog? Do it! If you have a love and passion for writing and enjoy it then don’t let anything stop you. Don’t feel like you have to fit into a box or category. Something I have always said is make sure you’re writing for you, create your blog for you. If you love the content and you’re happy with what you’re producing then who cares what others think!

Where do you find inspiration for your blog posts? If only I could have some really awesome answer to this question that would blow your mind however realistically, I don’t! I simply just write about things that happen in my everyday life and the products that I buy and that I get to receive.

AN EXTRACT FROM... ‘Winter self care’ Winter can be such a miserable time of year. The weather is cold and dreary, the days are shorter and we all have a little less money thanks to Christmas. Because of all this, it is important we take a little bit of time out to look after ourselves! At least once a week I like to give myself a pamper evening of such. This can be something as simple as having a bath or doing the full works. So what do you fill your pamper selfcare kits with? My must have is bath bombs. Pretty Suds is probably my favourite place to get bath bombs from...

What inspired you to start a blog? I started my blog in the summer before my third year at university and I suddenly felt like the time was flying by too quickly, so I decided to start a blog to document it. I wanted to capture my memories in a way that I can look back on and remember how I felt at that specific time. I also love to write and so this gave me a way to write and capture memories and share them with everyone.

How do you plan blog post ideas? If I get an idea I’ll make a note of it straight away so I don’t forget, and then plan it later on. I’ll write down all of the points or what I want to say and then just start writing and let the creative juice’s flow. Where do you find inspiration for your blog posts? I find inspiration from what I’ve been doing in my life. I know what I have coming up and I’ll make a note, to blog about a particular event, for example when I worked in the Albert Hall, I definitely wanted to remember that and share my experience with everyone! What is the best and worst thing about blogging? The best thing is the feeling of knowing that real people are reading your work and enjoying what you have to say. It’s being able to share your passion with other people. The worst thing would have to be the stressful feeling if you haven’t got any ideas or any blog posts planned.

How do you balance your blog alongside your everyday life? I often dedicate a day on the weekend to my blog, as my university work takes up a lot of my time during the week. However, if I’m particularly excited about a post I might procrastinate on my assignments and write a new post. But it’s not procrastination if it’s for my blog right?
INSTAGRAM: INSTAGRAM:
What do you love most about blogging? I love being able to share my experiences with my readers and friends on social media. I didn’t realise how many of my friends actually read my blog until they told me that they really loved a particular post I’d written. It allows me to be creative and have an outlet from the stress of university and share my experience with everyone.

Is there a type of content that you would like to produce more of on your blog? At some point in the future, I would love to do more beauty posts. Perhaps once I graduate university I will consider it. At the moment I am just focusing on capturing and remembering as many memories, events and topics relating to university as I can.

AN EXTRACT FROM... ‘My favourite things’ I’ve been blogging for around 4 months now, and I’m really enjoying it. Before I started my blog I never realised how huge the wonderful world of blogging was and I thought it might be a nice idea to give you 20 facts about myself, so you can all get to know me better. My top five favourite things: 1. My friends and family, I really could NOT live without them. They keep me going through the tough times, especially as I live away at University. So when I get the chance to escape and go home for a while, spending time with them becomes even more special. 2.Music, one of the first things I do in the morning when I wake up is put music on...
