RESEARCH
MOROCCO FEATURES DESERT, MOUNTAINS AND COASTAL TERRAIN. MARRAKECH IS KNOWN FOR IT’S PALMERAIE, WHICH FEATURES OVER 180,000 PALM TREES. RIADS ARE TRADITIONAL MOROCCAN HOMES THAT ARE BUILT AROUND A CENTRAL INTERIOR COURTYARD OR GARDEN. MOROCCON ARCHITECTURE IS VERY SIGNIFICANT IN TRADITIONAL HOMES AND BUILDINGS. NUMEROUS ARCHES ARE USED THROUGHOUT MOROCCAN BUILDINGS. MOROCCAN TILE IS A VERY COMMON FINISH IN RIADS, AS WELL AS TADELAKT, A PLASTER THAT ORIGINATES TO ANCIENT MOROCCO.

CLIENT OVERVIEW
BEN AND MADELINE REYES ARE BUILDING A SUMMER HOME IN MARRAKECH, MOROCCO. THEY WOULD BE USING THIS SPACE AS A VACATION HOME TO STAY IN AND ALSO AN AIRBNB WHEN THEY ARE NOT THERE. THE REYES’S WOULD LIKE THE HOME TO HAVE LOCAL DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE STYLES. BEN AND MADDIE ALSO LOVE NATURE. THEY WOULD LIKE A 2-3 BEDROOM PLAN AND HAVE ASKED FOR ALL MATERIALS, FINISHES AND FURNISHINGS TO BE CHOSEN BY THE DESIGNER.
