One of the most impactful projects throughout architecture school, this project brought about a deeper understanding of architecture and history and a newfound sense of freedom and creativity through artistic representation. A shortened semester abroad (Spring 2020) allowed for an appreciation of the temporary and a love for the past. This project site exists upon a rich history that was easy to celebrate through design.
A modern take on the unsustainable methods of living sought after within the United States - The Bend seeks to re-imagine the American Suburb. A reinventing of the typical program seen in American suburbs resulted in the curvilinear form of The Bend and the stacking of programmatic elements serve the surrounding neighborhood and the new residents. How well we live tomorrow will depend on the actions we take today.
An integration of community, education, and discovery led to the creation of this project. The concept of connection drove the overall design and was linked to the world in which it was being designed in. With a new understanding of what it means to be connected, be it virtual, environmental, or tangible, this project explores how to unite visitors through passive design strategies.
4 5 6 Tasked with creating a visual box that represented an intangible emotion through use of color, form, and texture, this box represents the feeling of “overwhelmed”, with the shapes seemingly expanding in size, gradually overtaking the original shape of the box. This project sought to increase the understanding of color and form on an environment and how to manipulate a space with unconventional methods to further a design concept.
Upon visiting the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art in Norman, Oklahoma, a piece of art was chosen to visually transform into a seemingly random fruit or vegetable. This project sought to push the limitations of connections and compositions between two completely separate items in five frames of drawings.
The bug project challenged a common perception; home. In studying an insect, the idea of a space for dwelling was rethought in terms of an insect and what was necessary for their specific species. In fully understanding the requirements for of the bug, a deeper appreciation for the individuality of a person or community was developed through studying form and movement.

MUSEO DELLA SCOPERTA
ROME SEMESTER ABROAD 2020 S2020 DESIGN FINAL
SKETCHUP, AUTOCAD, LUMION, PHOTOSHOP, ILLUSTRATOR, IN DESIGN
The Museo della Scoperta is a museum to serve both Romans and tourists. This site is situated at the intersection of two faces of Rome - an area of tourism and the Roman Forum and a residential area with a school. The idea of fragmentation shaped the forms of the museum building. Fragments of historical pieces throughout the site are preserved throughout the design. The history of the Muñoz wall, which originated in the Fascist era, is remembered but given a new purpose. In using a unit system based on existing site structures, we created a series of buildings that are fragmented by courtyards throughout the site that brings light into the underground buildings and acts as spaces for contemplation after exiting an exhibit. In another nod to the layers of history within Rome, the project is sunken underground to encourage the feeling of discovery. A visitor goes deeper underground to find the exhibit of Torlonia Collection busts - as if it was an excavated area and the visitors are discovering the layers hidden beneath Rome for the first time. Work displayed was collaborated on by Hannah Reed and Peyton Kroh.

This collage helped to illustrate the linkage between community, education, and discovery and helped shed light on the overarching theme of unity & connection. I saw the site in thirds. The first third was that of our every day living, the area of life we are most actively involved in; the keeping up with the Jones’, the fashion, the pop culture. The second was an aspect of our everyday life that often feels overwhelming but has the greatest impact on our life as a whole: the opinions, the laws the shifting power dynamics, the politics. The remaining third was the result of our vastly different values as a society and how they have culminated in the destruction of our world, seen most significantly through our built environment.

Tasked with creating a visual box that represented an intangible emotion through use of color, form, and texture, this emotion box represents the feeling of “overwhelmed”, with the shapes seemingly expanding in size, gradually overtaking the original shape of the box. This project sought to increase the understanding of color and form on an environment and how to manipulate a space with unconventional methods to further a design concept.
Tasked with creating a visual box that represented an intangible emotion through use of color, form, and texture, this box represents the feeling of “overwhelmed”, with the shapes seemingly expanding in size, gradually overtaking the original shape of the box. The bright red color also adds to the growing intensity of the emotion and urgency felt in it’s grip. This project sought to increase the understanding of color and form on an environment and how to manipulate a space with unconventional methods to further a design concept.
