BARKI
the new bart kiosk
Han Rihango Gao | hgao@cca.edu
OBSERVATION
The current ticket machines use an 8-button, ATM-style physical interface. Preliminary research revealed a lot of dissatisfaction with the design.
1
How might we improve the design of Bart Kiosk’s physical interface?
Many riders complained about having to adjust the value of their tickets manually, which requires dozens of button-presses.
2
How might we simplify the process of purchasing new tickets?
One station agent said that he is asked for help with the kiosks all the time, especially by tourists and infrequent riders.
3
How might we make Bart Kiosk more friendly to infrequent riders?
Han Rihango Gao | hgao@cca.edu
PRESENTATION Digital Signage The digital signage provides information for riders, including running hours, departure time and so on.
User Interface The new interface design is eaiser to understand visually and more friendly to infrequent riders.
Payment Methods The concave-space design provides buyers a more private experience when making a payment.
