A Box Of Christmas Cards
Self Initiated Brief.
Solution
Finishing Decisions to finalise
Design and produce a set of 12 Christmas cards with envelopes in four different designs. Create a box set for the cards and envelopes.
From research into higher end Christmas cards there is a trend of embossed or laser cut illustrations as well as foiling and glitter effects.
Two options have been identified as finishing touches for the cards.
Four simple designs have been created based around the use of a repetitive shape of a ‘mini snowflake’. The concept builds around a stripped back version of Christmas and the simple pleasures in life.
A red bow above the design as shown in the images to the left.
In order to achieve a natural look corrugated card 310 gsm has been chosen as the main stock with the design laser cut out of Cartridge paper 60gsm.
A red and white string in the spine of the card with a bow tied on the outside as shown in the image above.
Considerations. Stock and colour scheme to reflect a natural look. Aim to produce the resolution using a print method that is not digital. Target Audience. Female, non age specific. People who are wanting an alternative looking Christmas card to the usual glittery cards available. The brief has not been finalised.

Second Stage Development
Inside the card a piece of cartrigde paper will be attached with the message ‘Happy Christmas’ screen printed.
On the back of the card a screen printed additional piece of kraft card sized H40 x W60 mm will be attached with glue.
In the second stage of development the focus will be on designing the envelopes and the box set to hold the cards and envelopes.
