Each and every one of these are unique and beautiful accommodations on Curaçao. Curaçao, is the biggest island of the ABC islands and offers the ultimate holiday experience for many vacationers. The island has a great climate, the people are known to make a party out of everything and with its clear blue waters the island is also an excellent destination for the watersports fanatics. Curaçao has a rich history that is tangibly present and visible on many places on the island, yet the island remains in constant development. Contemporary architecture, new museums, and especially many trendy restaurants are characteristics of the island. For example the Pietermaai district has gone through an amazing transformation over the last few years from a working-class quarter to a trendy and lively nightlife district.

AIRPORT Strategically located between North and South America and bordering on the Venezuelan coast, Curaçao functions as an important and attractive passenger/cargo hub for the Southern Caribbean region. The airport of Curaçao offers a broad range of services and opportunities for shopping, food and beverage outlets. For more information about the various services, arrival and departure times, please visit the website: www.curacao-airport.com MONEY The local currency is the Antillean Guilder (ANG) however; US Dollars are generally accepted. The exchange rate is US$ 1 = ANG 1.75. Be aware that most stores or restaurants will provide exchange in guilders. Credit cards are also generally accepted and all ATM’s located in on the island, support many major cards (e.g. Mastercard, Visa) and payment systems (e.g. Maestro, Cirrus, Cashnet). Please check with your bank whether it requires you to adjust international settings to enable using ATM’s abroad. TAXES Room tax and service charge vary at each accommodation, adding an additional 19-22% to the room bill. A turn over tax (OB) of 6% - 9% is generally included in the price of all goods and services. SERVICE CHARGE & TIPS In restaurants and hotels they often charge a service charge around 10%, which is included in the bill. Tipping is at your own discretion at all times to show your appreciation for the hospitality and services. DRINKING WATER In Curaçao the water from the tap can be drank safely. The tap water in Curaçao is distilled from seawater and of excellent taste.

TAXES
TAXI Taxi service is readily available and can be most easily found, in Otrobanda and Punda, and at the Airport and most popular hotels. A taxi is easily recognizable by their sign on top of their car as well as the license plate always starting with TX or Taxi. All taxi rates are standardized by the government and are for one to four persons with each additional passenger adding 25% to the fare. From 6am to 11pm they all run on the standard fare, after 11pm an additional 25% applies. Always inquire about fares for your destination in advance.

In the southern Caribbean Sea, approximately 40 miles north of the Venezuelan coast, lies the beautiful island of Curaçao. Together with its neighbors, Aruba & Bonaire, it forms the soºcalled ABC islands. Curaçao has a land area of 172 square miles and is about 40 miles long stretching from southeast to northwest and about 10 miles wide. Dutch and Papiamentu are the official languages on Curaçao, Papiamentu is the most common spoken language. Papiamentu is a multifaceted Creole language based on a remarkable blend of Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch and several African dialects. Spanish and English are also widely spoken. Curaçao has a rather dry landscape due to scant rainfall and is for the most part flat but unique. Whilst the north side is rough and the waves thunder against the limestone cliffs, the south side coastline offers many little bays and inlets perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Most of the residents live here and the capital, Willemstad, is located here.

TIME Curaçao is situated in the Standard Time - 0400 UTC zone. TRANSPORTATION Public transportation is available but limited. Curaçao offers two kinds of public transportation; large busses called ‘Konvoi’ (long distance) and small vans called ‘Bus’ (short distance, max 9 pers.). They mainly operate from terminals in front of the post offices located in Punda and Otrobanda taking routes cover most parts of the island and can bring you to many attractions such as beaches, shopping areas, and parks. The west side is characterized by expansive, hilly terrain with the highest point Mt. Christoffel at 1230 feet, offering a stunning view over the island. The east side of the island has a mostly flat and barren plain surface with only a few settlements. Located just above the equator, Curaçao has an excellent year-round climate. The island is mostly warm and pleasant with an average temperature of about 27° C with cooling trade winds blowing constantly from the north-east. Curaçao generally experiences scant rainfall with the most rain occurring during the rainy season between October and February, which is usually marked by short, occasional showers, mostly at night, and continued sunny weather during the day. Hurricane season lasts from early June to November, however the island is located outside of the hurricane belt and experiences little storm activities. According to the last count there are about 154.000 inhabitants in Curaçao. The island’s population comes from a number of ethnic backgrounds due to its rich history. Curaçao represents about 107 different nationalities amongst those is a majority of Afro-Caribbean of African descent, and also sizeable minorities of Dutch, Latin American, French, Asian, Portuguese descent. Curaçao has something for everyone. Its beautiful white sandy beaches and clear blue water create the perfect atmosphere for any type of beach lover. Whether you simply enjoy relaxing under the sun or be active on the water either by kayaking, kiting, surfing or sailing, it is all there. An avid snorkeler, first-time diver or experienced diver, Curaçao offers a variety of dive sites suitable for any underwater explorer. If you’re looking for more adventure on land and you wish to explore the rough off-road paths you can take a Buggy or a ATV-tour. No matter where you go on the island or what you are going to do, you will be welcomed with a smile everywhere.

This Bed & Breakfast opened its doors in 2011 and was named Sombré di Kabana – meaning straw hat in Papiamentu – because of the owner's last name. Mr. Swarts realized his name backwards spells ‘straws’ and creatively he combined his name, the Papiamentu language and a piece of Curaçao culture into Sombré di Kabana. The B&B is situated in the residential area Cas Grandi, about a half an hour drive from the airport and 15 minutes to downtown Willemstad. The beach of Jan Thiel and the adjacent supermarket at the Papagayo Plaza can be reached in less than 10 minutes. Sombré di Kabana consists of 3 spacious double rooms, each with a private bathroom. It refers to itself as a B&B+. Not only do they regard themselves as a plus accommodation because of the luxurious and extensive breakfast, but also because of the extensive service the hosts provide for their guests. No request is considered too much.

The B&B is surrounded by a beautiful garden and there is a large pool, a Jacuzzi and a sundeck. The biggest room is part of the main house and has en suite, a small parlor with doors opening onto the pool terrace. The other two rooms are in a separate building in the garden, next to the swimming pool. Sombré di Kabana clearly has a keen eye for detail and service which is why their most memorable review speaks entirely for itself: “This B&B completely reinvented hospitality and subservience”.

Blue View Apartments exists since 2006 and received its name due to the endless view across the bright blue sea. The color blue has also found its way into the exterior and interior decoration of the apartments buildings. The apartments are built on the cliff of Playa Forti. Hanging above the water you really cannot stay any closer to Caribbean Sea. The bay is accessible by stairs, which leads from the road above, all the way down to the beach. Playa Forti is located 40 km from the airport and the capital Willemstad. Guests of the Blue View Apartments check in at Rancho el Sobrino, situated on the other side of the Playa Forti, and they are allowed to use all their facilities. This includes a swimming pool, restaurant and dive center. The front desk also provides assistance with tour reservations or with renting a car or scooter.

Blue View Apartments consists of 7 apartments varying from a studio for 2 people, a one-bedroom for 2 people or a two-bedroom apartment for up to 4 people. All apartments have a full-equipped kitchen, bathroom and a private balcony with the astonishing sea view. No wonder the most memorable review relates to this particular aspect of the accommodation. This spacious bungalow park opened its doors in 1990 but was acquired by the current owners in 2007. Bon Bini – which means ‘welcome’ in Papiamentu – does its name justice, because this place makes you instantly feel welcome. The resort is situated at Bapor Kibra, a very touristy area on the South Coast of Curaçao, it is located about 20 km from the airport and only a 10-minute drive to the city. Bon Bini offers a daily shuttle service to a nearby Supermarket and at a walking distance you will find the elaborate Sea Aquarium Beach where you can find several Beach Clubs, bars, restaurants and dive and water sport facilities. Here you can also find the Mambo Beach Boulevard, a luxurious shopping promenade with numerous shops, boutiques, entertainment and even a radio station. The Seaquarium underwater park, the Dolphin Academy and the Dolphin Therapy Center are also within walking distance from the resort.

The Bon Bini Seaside Resort has 28 bungalows with one or two bedrooms. These units are surrounding a big garden and on the edge of the resort there is a sundeck with a swimming pool. All bungalows have been recently renovated and restyled with brand new kitchens and modern furniture. There is 24/7 security on the premises and many guests compliment the resort about its safety, the peace and quietness, but their most memorable review refers to the vibrant Mambo Beach Boulevard: “Great location, across the best beach of Curaçao”.
This private rental apartment complex resides on top of the hill of Sunset Heights and shows a stunning 180-degree view of the less commonly known middle part of the island. Named after its street name combined with ‘casa’, the Spanish word for ‘house’, simple because it has a nice ring to it. Sunset Heights is a relatively new neighborhood situated on the ‘belt’ of Curaçao, just 10 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from Willemstad. There are no beaches close by, but you will reach Sea Aquarium Beach or the Piscadera Bay in about 15 minutes and within 10 minutes you will drive onto the Road to Westpunt, finding your way to all the beautiful bays along the Westcoast. Nearby at the Gosieweg, you will find some shops and a little further down, at the Schottegatweg, is a supermarket.

Casa Sablica, a modern classical mansion, comes with four bedrooms and three bathrooms, including an enormous master bedroom with a private bathroom en suite. There is a large, fully equipped kitchen, a separate laundry room and a cozy living room. On the backside of the house adjacent to the swimming pool, there is a beautiful garden room surrounded with mosquito screen windows and doors. The villa comfortably sleeps a large family of eight to ten people, and it will make you instantly feel at home. The most meaningful review reflects significantly on the perfectionism of its host: “We can see that you really put time into every detail, and everyone loved your home and the set-up!”

The Curaçao Dolphin Therapy Center (CDTC) provides unique, individual therapies for children with special needs. Due to their great results, families from all over Europe with children who are challenged visit the center. However, finding a proper accommodation often seemed to be a struggle. Therefore, the CDTC decided to build their own accommodations and in 2009 Dolphin Suites opened its doors. Dolphin Suites is located at Bapor Kibra and they are the only accommodation on Curaçao that offers free entrance to the Seaquarium Park every day. Within 100 meters you will also reach the beautiful Sea Aquarium Beach, which you can also enter free of charge. Bapor Kibra is situated 30 km from the Airport, 10 km from Willemstad and the hotel also provides a shuttle service, twice a day, to a supermarket.

The hotel offers 1 studio, 7 double rooms and 13 two-bedroom suites with a fully equipped kitchen. There is a nice swimming pool with sundeck, laundry facilities, a grocery service, and besides regular diving they provide handicap diving authorized by the IAHD. This spacious villa in Damacor – the so called ‘bird neighborhood’ – was named after its address. ‘Kas’ meaning ‘house’ in Papiamentu, combined with the street name Kinikini – which is a kestrel – simply led to its name.
The Lagoon Ocean Resort is a small new resort, which offers a total of 26 apartments, 5 bungalows and 2 studios. It is situated on a rocky plateau (about 10 meters high) with a nice view over Playa Lagun into the Caribbean Sea.
Kas Kinikini is much more than just a house. The renovated 50’s residence has been transformed into a beautiful vacation villa with an enormous tropical garden, a nice pool and even a small playground for kids.

Damacor is part of Mahaai and is centrally located on the island, just 20 minutes from the airport and a 10 minute drive away from Willemstad. It is a lively neighborhood, with nice establishments. This small hotel was founded in 2013 and is named after the Caribbean island Mustique, a small private island that is part of St. Vincent and the Grenadines MustiQue is situated in the outer area of the Otrobanda part of the city center of Willemstad. Within a 10-minute walk you will reach the shopping area of the Breedestraat. The hotel is about a 15-minute ride from the airport and just a 2-minute walk from the supermarket in the Colon Shopping Mall. All bathrooms provide hot water and the facilities are basic but neat. Overall this small hotel provides a very good price quality ratio and lives up to its slogan: ‘If you’re on a budget but demand perfection’. Instead of enjoying their lifesavings, the owner and his wife decided to invest their money by building apartments on Westpunt. They started in 2006 with a plan for just four apartments, which resulted in a three stories high building with eight spacious condos. They opened in 2009 and named it Nos Krusero – which means ‘Our Cruise’ in Papiamentu – because the apartments had taken over from their dream vacations. Nos Krusero is located at the very tip of Westpunt. The apartments are across from Playa Kalki and therefore within walking distance to the beach. It is a 38 km drive to the airport and driving to the capital Willemstad takes about 50 minutes. There is no supermarket nearby, but Nos Krusero provides a grocery service for its guests.

The Quint’s Travelers Inn opened its doors in 2010. The Inn has five shareholders who decided on the name because ‘quintus’ means ‘fifth’ in Latin. The Quint’s Travelers Inn is centrally located at the Corriweg, also known as the ‘Weg naar Brievengat’. The airport is located at 11 km and the capital Willemstad at 6 km. There is a ‘toko’ – a small shop – across the street of the Inn and 1 km down the road you can find a supermarket. Sea Aquarium Beach is the nearest beach which is about a 15 minute drive away and in 15 minutes you will also reach the ‘Weg naar Westpunt’, which leads to all the beautiful bays at the southwest coast of the island. The Inn consists of 9 studios all situated on the second floor of a small shopping center. The buildings are located on a small square, are brightly colored and surrounded by palm trees.

The whole area is enclosed and secured with camera surveillance. The accommodations vary from double to quadruple studios and are all very stylish. They have a full-equipped kitchen, the bathrooms have warm water and the Inn provides daily housekeeping. Behind the reception on the ground floor, you will find a swimming pool, a small sundeck with sunbeds, a BBQ area and some tables and chairs for common use. In 1998 the owner started a small restaurant on the spot where his family used to gather to plant small crops and cook meals, underneath a big tree. Being the nephew of the family he called the restaurant Rancho El Sobrino, El Sobrino being the Spanish word for nephew. El Sobrino is situated next to Playa Forti and within 100 meters you will reach the Caribbean Sea. Playa Forti is a public beach, freely accessible to anyone. To reach the beach you descend a set of chairs leading from the road all the way down to the beach. Playa Forti is located 40 km from the airport and the capital Willemstad is a 40 minutes drive. Rancho El Sobrino has become a full-fledged accommodation with 14 double room apartments and 1 two-bedroom apartment for four people. There is a swimming pool, a dive center and the restaurant that outgrew the ‘cook out under the tree’ as it used to be.

Next to their own apartments Rancho El Sobrino also manages the Blue View Apartments situated on the other side of the Playa Forti Bay.
