Welcome to RH Fisheries I started out some 20 years ago with the objective of creating the very best carp fisheries in the country. Now within the RH Fisheries portfolio we offer five outstanding venues that cater for every carp angler’s needs. We try to offer a lot more than just big fish, our venues are all very safe and secure places to fish in peaceful surroundings. We ensure that the lakes are both maintained and managed to the highest standards to create the best possible fishing environment. The Monument is our flagship fishery, boasting a massive head of big fish up to 49lbs and this wonderful fishery is open to the public. However, if you want to target even bigger fish to over 50lbs, then Acton or The Avenue are the ideal fisheries for you. Alternatively, if you want action waters in spectacular surroundings then Weston Park or The Sitch offer just that. We are always investing in our fisheries to ensure they keep progressing, and we may even venture abroad one day. Created in 2002, The Monument is a specially designed carp fishery of 8 acres in size, located on the outskirts of Shifnal in Shropshire.

The Avenue has 17 purpose-built swims and at present there are 140 carp. The current lake record is a mirror of 51-04lbs, a fish which was 36lbs less than two years ago! The current best common is 46-10lbs, records that will not last long.

Acton Burnell is famous for both its fish and spectacular scenery and many famous anglers have visited these lakes to catch its carp. Most recently, Martin Bowler caught a 44lbs common whilst filming his new angling show 'Catching the Impossible’. The big lake holds an incredible head of big fish. With over 25 different 40's of which four are over 48lbs. With a big head of upper 30's.

The Sitch is a naturally-formed breathtaking 26 acre lake, surrounded by mature dense woodland. The fishery has 21 purpose built swims.

There is also a tremendous head of other big fish, with three 40lbs+ commons and lots of mirrors approaching 40lbs.

Experience the spectacular surroundings of Weston Park. This truly magnificent lake was designed by Capability Brown and created in 1812. Situated on the bank of the lake is the stunning Grade II listed boathouse, which provides luxury lake view accommodation. In its waters is a magnificent head of over 200 stunning common and mirror carp up to 39-15lbs.

The Monument can be booked for 36 hour sessions and for day visits. The Monument holds in excess of 300 spectacular carp up to 49lbs, with 100 different fish over 30lbs.

There are 450 magnificent young carp present of the monument strain, which are in the 12lbs to 26lbs bracket and they are growing fast, together with a few stunning 30's up to 38lbs.

The Monument

The Monument holds over 300 carp, with over 100 known 30’s. The average weight is over 25lbs and we have five 40’s with a lake record mirror of 49lbs and common of 42lbs. We plan to stock three new 40’s by April 2012 and always plan to stock a few very big fish every year. We also stock approximately a dozen quality doubles every year. Spend your time in comfort at The Monument in one of our 15 purpose built swims. Each with all-weather surfaces topped with either stone or bark chipping ensuring that they remain clean and dry. Bank sticks will go into the ground easily so there is no need for rod pods. The Monument is now a mature fishery with substantial bank side cover and a continuous planting programme. There are stone paths to all swims, with a perimeter stone track around the fishery to keep the

Created in November 2002, The Monument is a specially-designed carp fishery of 8 acres in size. Located on the outskirts of Shifnal in Shropshire, the fishery is clearly signposted from the A41 at Tong and is just five minutes from Junction 3 of the M54.

The Fishery shop sells top quality boilies and pellets from “Sonu Baits”, you can also get basic tackle items from the café. The café offers a full English breakfast, sandwiches and evening meals. Soft drinks and chocolates are also available. There are excellent toilet facilities and a hot power shower available alongside the fishery lodge.

The Monument – How to Book Sessions: We sell a 36-hour session all year round: Monday – Tuesday: Arrive at dawn on Monday, depart at dusk on Tuesday. Thursday – Friday: Arrive at dawn on Thursday, depart at dusk on Friday. Saturday – Sunday: Arrive at dawn on Saturday, depart at dusk on Sunday. If you want to fish next to your friends when you are night fishing you can choose your swim when you book.

The Avenue The Avenue is located in the grounds of my own home. It was dug in the late 17th Century as a pool to provide ice for the ice house. In 2007 permission was granted to extend The Avenue and major excavation and landscaping was undertaken to create the wonderful 10.2 acre lake that is now The Avenue carp fishery.

There is also a tremendous head of other big fish, with three 40+ commons and lots of mirrors approaching 40lbs. The Avenue fish are all young fish of the highest quality and they are growing fast so you can expect the lake records to keep moving up. The Avenue is managed with the sole purpose of growing the carp as big as possible, we have already de-stocked 60 fish to make sure the biggest fish always have plenty of room to maximise their growth potential, and we will keep de-stocking in the future. We have high expectations of The Avenue carp.

The Avenue boasts five star facilities which include a luxury log cabin with a power shower, toilet, bedroom, fully fitted kitchen, TV room and bait chest freezer together with a separate toilet and shower block at the opposite end of the lake. There is also a syndicate 4x4 mule and trailer for syndicate members to get their tackle to and from the swims.

The Avenue is now “my dream fishery”, a beautiful carp lake. It has 17 purpose built swims and at present there are 140 carp. The current lake record mirror of 51-04lbs, a fish which was 36lbs less than two years ago! The current best common is 46-10lbs, records that will not last long.

Weston Park

Weston Park operates as a syndicate and there is currently a waiting list for this. To apply please send a written application.

Open access The lake is fished by a syndicate and well-known anglers such as Matt Hayes, Chris Tarrant and Des Taylor are all visitors to Weston Park. There are 12 swims all finished with bark chippings to keep the swims clean and are pinned with tree trunks to ensure that they look natural. The average depth is approximately 3ft with a maximum depth of 6ft near the outlet. The lake holds 204 large fish, of which 150 plus are over 20lbs with an average weight of 24lbs. There is a big head of upper 20’s and many 30’s. The two best fish this season were commons weighing 38-10lbs and 39-15lbs. There are approximately 60% mirrors and 40% commons, with the best mirror to date of 38lbs. We expect our first 40’s this season. It’s common for anglers to catch over ten fish in a 24 hour session. The fishery is within the park walls of a stately home so is very secure. A private entrance and drive inside the Weston Park wall leads you to the boathouse and parking facilities are available. Many swims are only a short walk and carp barrows are available.

For six weeks from mid-April to the end of May, we sell full lake exclusive bookings for groups of up to eight anglers. You get the fishery and the boathouse exclusively to yourselves.

The Boathouse (Available to book all year)

You get two swims either side of the boathouse, plus a swim called the African Tree. Please note that no pets are allowed. The magnificent boathouse was built in 1812 and is now a grade II listed building. It is located over the lake, with two superb swims on either side. The boathouse is in superb condition with facilities including central heating, shower and washroom, separate toilet, an oak kitchen with cooker, fridge and bait freezer and a luxurious bedroom with twin beds that opens out onto a patio overlooking the lake. This is a unique chance to fish a magnificent fishery in stunning surroundings for beautiful big fish.

Acton Burnell is famous for both its fish and spectacular scenery. Many famous anglers have visited these lakes to catch its huge carp, including Kevin Maddocks, Andy Little, Des Taylor, Matt Hayes, Max Cottis, Rob Hughes, Terry Eustace and Martin Bowler whilst filming “Catching the impossible.” There are two lakes at Acton, both can be very tricky, but there are some fantastic catches every season. I took control of the lakes in 1992, shortly after they were drained, emptied, limed, fertilised and de-silted. They were re-stocked with the magnificent carp that reside there today and since 1994 both Acton lakes have been run as very exclusive syndicate waters, and there has always been a two-year waiting list. In the lower lake in 1993 I introduced 96 young carp, three to five years old weighing between 10lbs and 24lbs. Over the years we have gradually de-stocked to maximise the potential of the best fish. The lower lake now holds 20 originals, nearly all of which are big 30’s together with four 40’s and a 50lbs common. In addition there are 42 young hand-picked doubles that are growing well for the future.

More recently Steve Briggs and Simon Crow have targeted the Lower Lake, with ‘Briggsy’ landing the biggest mirror 48+ and ‘Crowy’ landing ‘Bill’ the big common at 51+. The top lake holds approximately 120 fish of which 25 fish are different 40’s! These include a current lake record mirror of 49-04lbs and a current lake record common of 48-11lbs. In addition to the big girls there are approximately 60 different 30’s with the average weight of 32lbs.

The top lake is difficult but every week it produces big fish. It will soon produce its first 50, as there are three fish over 48lbs. The Acton carp do show themselves, so with good water craft, you can sometimes predict their next move. Every rig and method has been tried, so use what you have confidence in, something different often works, and remember the average weight in both lakes is well over 30lbs.

The Sitch

The Sitch is a naturally formed breath-taking 26-acre estate lake, surrounded by mature dense woodland that boasts a spectacular variety of trees, and is home to a diverse range of wildlife. The fishery has 20 purpose built pegs, some are situated in the woodland and others on purpose built platforms set out on the lakeside amongst the reed and sedges. The lake is stocked with 450 young monument strain carp. These fish range from 12lbs-30lbs and are growing at a healthy rate, with the number of 20’s increasing each month. There are also a number of 30lbs fish with the lake record currently standing at 38lbs+. On top of the current stock we also adopt an on-going, year on year stocking policy with a view to improving on the high end fish we have exceeding 30lbs. The future looks promising for The Sitch as the fish continue to grow. With 450 fish multiple catches are a common place, these fish really respond to heavy baiting tactics and with the depth’s not exceeding 4ft you are never too far away from your target.

Open access Through the months of April and May we operate an open access policy, we sell the lake exclusively from Saturday to Saturday for groups of up to 12 anglers.
