MORE NZ IN ANZMRC Increase from 4 to 9 full members This has been an exceptional year for the New Zealand component of the Australian & New Zealand Masonic Research Council. Affiliated member lodges have increased from four to nine. Two former Associate members— United Masters Lodge 167 (Auckland) and Research Lodge of Southland 415 (Invercargill)—have upgraded their membership to Affiliate status. This gives them full participation rights in the Council. And three other research lodges which were not members of ANZMRC have joined as Affiliate members. We welcome the Research Lodge of Taranaki Province 323, the Midland Lodge of Research 436 and the Research Lodge of Otago 161 to our group, and look forward to their collective and individual input in the years to come. Midland Research is based at Timaru, a town on the east coast of the South Island, between Christchurch and Dunedin, and it draws its membership from the mainly rural lodges in the central area of the South. The Research Lodge of Otago is the second oldest research lodge in New Zealand, and is nearing its centenary. Its membership is based on brethren in the city of Dunedin and the rural towns of the Otago Province. Taranaki has already been mentioned in the last issue of Harashim and their Master has forwarded a report for this issue. They are based in the city of New Plymouth on the west coast of the North Issue 37 Island.

been the missionary zeal of ANZMRC’s New Zealand delegate and Assistant Secretary, Colin Heyward. With nine NZ Affiliates, the case for two delegates, two Kellerman Lecturers, and two biennial conferences in New Zealand in a 16-year cycle is very strong—and will certainly be on the agenda of the next Conference, to be held in Ballarat, Victoria, over the first weekend in October 2006. New Zealand has one other Craft research lodge, at Ruapehu, and also a Royal Arch Chapter of Research. The message for these is ‘Come on in; the water is fine!’]

ANZMRC TOURING LECTURER 2007 Bro James Daniel, PSGW, PGSec (UGLE), PM of Quatuor Coronati Lodge 2076 EC, will be the ANZMRC touring lecturer for 2007. Further details in the April issue.

Colin Heyward [Editor’s note: Undoubtedly holding the biennial conference in Tauranga helped, as did the recent lecture tour by Bob Cooper, but the main reason for such a substantial increase in membership has
