The hot and dry summer days seem a little less frequent and spring has been interrupted by a pattern of cooler often windy days, with little rain. However, with warmth in the soils this should promote feed growth with the hope for some more rain. Demand for lifestyle properties in Canterbury is currently very strong although the number of listed properties for sale is significantly below what we would normally expect leading into summer. The sides of the hedge are first trimmed vertically with a sweeping up and down movement, using both sides of the cutter bar.

To trim the top of the hedge, the cutter bar is guided horizontally at an angle between 0°and 10°. The cuttings are removed from the hedge with a scything movement.

For vertical trimming at a distance, the cutter bar is adjusted to the appropriate angle. A straight cutter bar is used when working close up.

The angled cutter bar even enables overhead trimming of very tall hedges.
