When I was a kid, skateboarding was all that I cared about. When I wasn’t skating, I was dreaming about tricks I wanted to learn or places I wanted to skate. I avoided thinking about growing up and entering the real world at all costs and instead dreamt of ways that I might be able to spend all of my time skateboarding. When I was 17, I quit school and started working at Burger King in order to save up for a car. With just a few hundred bucks, a few friends and I made the trip to California and started a new life on the streets of San Francisco.

“I AVOIDED THINKING ABOUT GROWING UP AND ENTERING THE REAL WORLD AT ALL COSTS AND INSTEAD DREAMT OF WAYS THAT I MIGHT BE ABLE TO SPEND ALL OF MY TIME SKATEBOARDING.” With nothing but a car full of my favorite skate videos and junk from my old room, I was beyond hyped to be in California following my dreams. I got a job selling shoes until I could get sponsored. One opportunity led to another and in the summer of 1994, I got on Toy Machine and was able to start traveling the world. Ed Templeton and I made a few videos and I started to learn the basics of marketing and business. With a thirst for progression, I started ZERO Skateboards in 1996 and gradually took on more responsibility. The success of ZERO in the late 90’s led to starting a distribution company to independently house and distribute the brand and we launched FALLEN in 2003. Somewhere along the way it dawned on me that I had beaten the system and accomplished my goal of avoiding life without skateboarding, but although I was immersed in skateboarding I had to fight for time on my board. Over 10 years of battling this struggle had me often wondering “what’s it all worth?”. This new partnership with Dwindle, relieves me of the responsibility I previously had of running a distribution company and allows me more time to focus on the design, team and marketing aspects of ZERO and FALLEN while also having more time to actually ride my skateboard. With a wealth of resources and experience, Dwindle is known for efficiently delivering quality goods on schedule. These attributes along with the support they have shown our brands is all that I could ask for in a partnership. I would like to thank everyone who has dedicated their lives to skateboarding and those that have supported our brands throughout the years. Skate or Die! 02

First Photo in a Magazine R.A.D. Magazine. The Livi Pure Fun Summer Skate Party 1990 maybe. I’d seen Bucky Lasek skate there earlier that summer and was pretty inspired to blast off the Andover bank.

First Ad A sequence in the rain in the winter in Scotland. Gap over this covered stairwell off a loading dock to 5050 this sketchy skinny ledge 180 out into the rain all wrapped up in wet weather gear and gloves. It was a storage warehouse for the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

First Video Part A local video filmed by my friend Alex Craig circa ‘92. Title was Lost in my Trousers in keeping with the fashions of the times. Pretty sure I skated to Mr Wendel by Arrested Development.

First Pro Model I was studying Physics and Astronomy in Glasgow at that point. Panic did a graphic with an image and write up on the science behind the northern lights. Haha, like anyone cares to read shit like that.

First Spot of the Day Toss up between Silas’ Park, Nike Warehouse, Ed Benedict, Burnside occasionally. The school yard around the corner with the boy at the weekends.

First Cover Sidewalk Mag for certain but what it looks like I cannot remember. The first cover I can remember Oliver Barton shot. Shifty over a hydrant beaming the camera.

First Tour I think it was a Panic and Blueprint tour with Colin Kennedy and co. Packed into a 12 seater like sardines. Learning new definitions for the word depravity.

First Skate Video Streets on Fire rented from the local skate/ american pastimes shop Quarterback Sports. All about Natas.

First Trick of the Day Definitely either a frontside pop shove or a straight kickflip. Those are the testers. If it’s a ramp or something then maybe 20 rock and rolls and a sweeper?

Q&A with Seu Trinh You’ve been shooting skate photos for a long time now. How did you get into it? Taking art classes in school, taking my dads point and shoot around shooting the homies. Then the homies introduced me to sponsored skaters, which then some of them got used for ads. After that I would start sending my photos

What’s the reason you have such a deep history with the Almost guys? I would see Daewon around before I got the job at World. After I got hired I was magnetized about hanging with Daewon, Shiloh and the whole World team, which later turned into the Deca team then some of them guys went to the Almost team. During that time, Cooper lived with me and Haslam would stay at our place for months and months on end. I clicked with them more then most of the other riders from dwindle. For awhile you where Rodneys only photographer he would shoot with, Why? Yeah, I was flattered… I’m all giggly about it. I guess he trusted me with the photos. I wouldn’t

leak them out or sell them to other people to make a profit. I would hold on to them for him. He felt comfortable hanging out with me, and we got along well with him. I love hanging out with Rodney. How did you end up deciding on the final images for these boards? To me those are my more favorable photos I took of the guys over the years. They were not necessarily the hardest tricks of all time but they more memorable moments to me. Like the Haslam Gorilla grab, working with him and making more of a 70’s style with the plastic boards and dressing him up. The Daewon panoramic photo fit real nice on a skateboard, The Rodney photo was a no brainer, and Lewis was more heavenly looking. You always paint the boards you skate all Black or all White. Is that why you choose to have these full dipped? Yeah, I like them all painted, its a more simple look to the board, its cleaner, ages well.
