ANNUAL REPORT 2012 2013

The redesigned front entrance was completed in October 2012.

LETTER

A

from the

PRESIDENT

s we reflect on another year (July 1, 2012 -June 30, 2013), it is impossible not to see God’s hand at work. In many ways it was a historic year that witnessed giving levels never before seen in our sixty-year history. While it would be easy to measure the past year by data points such as an impressive college matriculation list, unbelievable fine arts and

successful athletic programs, or tremendous gains that eclipse other schools’ use of technology, there are characteristics of the Harding experience that simply cannot be quantified. The way that each student is known and valued as an individual and the fact that the Word of God and a spirit of service are integrated into everything that we do continue to keep Harding unique and strong. As you will see, because of the incredible support of so many, we are poised for continued growth as we enhance and refine the vision for the future. During this reporting period, we renovated nearly every restroom on our Cherry Road campus, replaced our stadium lighting and baseball scoreboard, and purchased iPads in preparation for our 1:1 iPad initiative. Also, a generous donation allowed us to establish the Endowment for Excellence in the Fine Arts. Additional gifts to this endowed fund will enable us to expand our already thriving fine arts offerings. Twice during this period we received the largest single cash contribution from a living donor in our sixty-year history. I believe that every student will benefit from these upgrades, and I am excited about what the future holds.

More significant than any external renovation, however, has been the internal examination of who we are and why we exist. Our Board of Trustees has made significant contributions to this examination by committing to expand our board and to endorse a very deep and meaningful Statement of Faith. We are honored that Mr. Hubie Smith (’79) has agreed to join our board and look forward to adding other new faces of leadership in the near future. Enhancing and expanding a culture of giving is vital to the future of Harding Academy. I pray that as we expand and refine our vision for the future, many will continue to join us through their financial support. Please prayerfully consider a financial gift that will sustain our ministry and further equip us to carry out our mission. Your commitment and a continued culture of giving will keep Harding strong, and I am grateful for your belief in our mission. As God continues to work in the hearts of our families, friends, and alumni to give, we give Him all the glory and praise.
