Merida Italia Team defends its valor at Montichiari Great day of mountain biking at Montichiari, full of spectacle and spectators flocked in the center of the beautiful town near Brescia. Arrived at the second round of Internazionali d'Italia Series, the riders of Merida Italia Team were confronted with several foreign athletes of the highest level (145 total starters in the main event).
Since the start lap was pure brawl, and unfortunately the early stages of the race have done some victims. Mattia Setti had unfortunately a crash, but has reacted well, going back on the saddle fast and especially conducting a gritty race, recovering up until the finish line(19째 U23). Even Stefano Valdrighi was not lucky, having a flat during the first lap, for then having to start from the pits in the queue of the big group. For him it was not possible to complete the recovery, because unfortunately at the penultimate lap was stopped by the judges due to the eighty percent rule. Great start of Gioele Bertolini, who continued the race in the top positions nestled among the best of the Elite category. His race, has gradually taken on the characteristics of the tyipcal phenomenal performance, because the guy with an unmatched determination has
climbed positions until two laps from the end. In the end the effort was heard by his body, but the 17th place overall and the second place among the Under23 has fully satisfied him and the whole staff. Lorenzo Samparisi has unfortunately had to surrender to the cramps during the penultimate lap, while he was leading a good race. Alessandro Naspi started from the back, but bravely faced the race without sparing himself, being able to be more than satisfied with his 12th place among the Under23. In the morning were held the races for the young athletes of the Youth Team. To summarize the results: Vanni Frasoni 50th Juniores, Lorenzo Calloni 11th AL2, Giulia Lazzari 9th DA2. All eyes are now on next Sunday for the classic race of Nalles, third round of Internazionali d'Italia Series.
