The new season of Merida Italia Team has started During last weekend, at the first round of Internazionali d'Italia Series, Merida Italia Team gave the official start to the racing season 2016, presenting nine athletes at the starting line.
The weekend started with the race of Paola Papetti (category EWS), which received an excellent second place in class, despite some physical problems and a mechanical problem during the race. The next day saw engaged the youth cadets Martina Bassi, Riccardo Simoni and Gian Guido Pighi, all three at their first year in the new category. Mixed among the more than 240 starters, the three young men have certainly not disfigured, indeed have raced well, closing respectively in the 7th, 31th and 35th place in their respective categories. The race weekend has ended for the Team with the Juniores race, with the best national athletes at the starting line, as well as a fair number of strong foreign athletes. Merida Italia Team was at the start with Jakob Dorigoni, Lorenzo Calloni and Vanni Frassoni among men, and with Giulia Lazzari and Fiorile Allocca among women. Jakob immediately realized that was not in his best condition, thus was not being able to fight for the podium but for a place in the top 10 (11th at the finish line), while Lorenzo and Vanni moved well to recover, especially in the early stage (24th and 26th at the finish line). The girls Giulia Lazzari and Fiorile Allocca were the most excited before the start, perhaps because of the excessive pressure of the first race in the new category, but fortunately the
family atmosphere of the Team has helped them, and soon after the start were more relaxed and they started give their best (19th and 25th at the finish line). The next official date for the youth riders of Merida Italia Team will be during Easter holidays at Milan, for the second round of Internazionali d'Italia Series.
