Milan Montagnetta From Montagnetta Park of San Siro’s district (Milan), at the second round of Internazionali d’Italia Series, the guys of Merida Italia Team have come out a little bit battered.
The race weekend has not started in the best way, because of a nasty crash achieved by Gian Guido Pighi during the track recognition, resulting in a fracture of the humerus of his right arm. So during the youth race the Team had only at the start Riccardo Simoni (44th) and Martina Bassi, authors of a good race despite the fright for the companion. Martina appeared also quite competitive, completing the race within a whisker of the podium (4th). 11am was the time of the Juniores start, whose race began with a good start of Jakob Dorigoni, very competitive, who fought for a place near the podium among many foreign athletes despite a puncture, but unfortunately a second puncture forced him to quit because was too far from the pits. Lorenzo Calloni was the most effective athlete of Team: has managed well the start and kept a steady pace throughout the race, not making mistakes and taking home a good 20th place finish. Lackluster instead Vanni Frassoni, who because of his bad shape has long suffered the steep climbs of the track, competing very below his potential (39th).
Th last race of the day for the Team was the women's Juniores one. Giulia Lazzari and Fiorile Allocca despite the high level of the opponents and the extreme conditions of the track, have gave their best, finishing 23rd and 28th respectively. Certainly not a perfect weekend so for Merida Italia Team, but the Team is now focused already on the stage of the UCI Junior Series scheduled onn Sunday, April 3 in Lugano (Switzerland).
