Loukyam Movie Review
Rating: 3 After the critically acclaimed 'Sahasam,' hero Gopichand is back with 'Loukyam.' It is also the second collaboration of Gopichand with 'Lakshyam' director Sriwass. Rakul Preet Singh romanced with Gopichand in the film and Brahamanandam is playing a vital role. Story: Venky [Gopichand] is a fun going and a normal guy like any other. He helps Babji's [Sampath Raj[ elder sister to escape who is in a danger. From here Babji will be in search of Venky and also his sister. Change in the location, Venky shifts to Hyderabad. He meets Chandra Kala [Rakul Preet Singh] and falls in love with her. As the story unfolds, it gets revealed that Chandra Kala is the younger sister of Babji who stays with Satya [Rahul Dev] for her studies. Getting to know about Chandra Kala's relation with Venky, Babji takes back to Warangal. The rest of the story is how Venky solves all the problems and wins his love.
Analysis: Our Tollywood directors and writers are repeating the same stories in different ways however, are offering something new in the hero characterisation and screenplay. Loukyam also does not offer us anything fresh but it is the presentation that made it a watchable one. The main asset of the film is comedy, the director balanced the entertainment levels quite good in both first and second half and so audience will find the movie entertaining. The first half is good and we can expect a predictable interval bang while the second half is also the same, but we will get diverted by the comedy scenes. As I said, the director clearly succeeded in providing ample of laughs to this routine plot.
Performance: You will see a fresh and energetic Gopichand in Loukyam. He looks more handsome, mesmerizes his charm and also makes us laugh. This is probably the first film where Gopichand focused on comedy and it really worked. His scenes with Brahamanandam are laugh riot, audience will enjoy them to the core. Rakul Preet is beautiful and did justice to her role. We can say Rakul Preet is inching towards the top league of Tollywood. Brahamanandam again steals the show. Rather than we say, watch out for him. Coming to the technical stuff, music is good and background score is also apt. cinematography needs special mention. Songs are visual feast and shot at good locations. Final Word: Loukyam is clean and comedy entertainer from Gopichand but we have to see how the audiences will display their Loukyam in the success of the film.
