A subtle blend of earthy tones used on its exterior façade gives the home an understated elegance. Azhara’s well-defined living spaces present an elegant living room with contemporary motifs. The entire space has an open concept design. The L-shaped sofa in the living room is complemented by a low-lying coffee table on plush carpet that sits in the middle of the room. space. Wall-to-ceiling clear glass sliding doors in the dining area not only offer a scenic view of the manicured garden but allow natural sunlight to illuminate the interior space. The kitchen features cabinet lined against the wall and an extension that doubles up as a breakfast bar, whilst overhanging open shelved cabinets occupy one section. The colours used in this space are well-blended to create a pleasant and peaceful ambience. The lime green and yellow panel coupled with the dark glass backsplash in the kitchen lend a classy and contemporary touch. There is also a room on the ground floor which has been turned into a private and informal area to unwind. The warm red and grey coloured throw cushions and opens shelves add a pop of colour to the room. The staircase leading to the upper floor comprises tempered glass banisters and wood panelled stairs. The top floor comprises three elegantly designed bedrooms that create warm and cosy ambiences. Wood panelled flooring stretches across all the bedrooms and the spacious family hall. The family hall presents a settee, plush carpets, a coffee table and a television set. Ample natural light floods this space thanks to the clear glass panelled ceiling-to-floor sliding doors that also provide a scenic view of the surroundings from the upper floor. Inspired by contrasting colours, the master bedroom features a queen-sized bed against a green hued textured feature wall complemented by art works on the side wall. A suspended light illuminates the sleeping space and creates a 3-dimensional definition around the bed. The windows are cleverly shielded by screens while the ceiling-to-floor clear glass sliding doors have curtains in dark shades to filter natural light in the cosy bedroom. The remaining two bedrooms, opposite the master bedroom, sport chic interior decoration with built-in wardrobes, a study corner, vanity top and subtle lighting. One is decorated in blue and cream shades while the other is in butter yellow with a feature wall that has shelves. There is no doubt that Azhara @ Antara Gapi development is an ideal option for those seeking a cosy get-away from city. Azhara is located within a convenient distance from several popular recreational hotspots such as the Templer Park Golf & Country Club and the Eagle Nest Outbound Adventure Eco Resort. Commuting into the city is a breeze with the KTM Komuter train from the Serendah KTM Station which is about 2.47 kilometres from the town. u 10

here is a certain charm that only exists in a Victorian home. These stately homes feature characteristics such as crown moldings and high ceilings – features at the top of many dream home checklists. But just how do designers update these historic homes to the modern day? The designers from ST Concepts, in giving the house a modern and luxurious look with hints of Victorian touches, began with the lights. Lightening up a Victorian is the first place to start as the details, carvings and cornices can start to weigh heavily on the home if not given a fresh coat of bright paint. This approach starts from the main entrance where the kitchen sits on the right side in heavy classical detailing. Daubed in total whiteness, the designer installs a charming geometric patterned floor to add a classic vintage look to the space. Classic furniture stands out well in a Victorian space as it juxtaposes nicely with the classic backdrop. The living area exudes a romantic flair with a rose-inspired carpet demarcating the floor space. Keeping the palette clean and lightweight, a simple furniture layout plan is implemented. A delicate mix of seating in homogenous tones of warm neutral resound a luxurious modern Victorian theme to this house. Moving to the more private area, the bedroom is a glorious galore of plush draperies and upholstery. Keeping the wall and ceiling palette clean, wood flooring is added for a warmer, pleasing and welcoming appeal. Here, simple cornices add an additional flair and tasteful twist to the walls. u

Materiality
British designer Tom Dixon debuted a range of homeware that references the brand's material "building blocks" at Salone del Mobile 2016. The collection – named Materiality – is made up of five ranges, each highlighting the basic materials or ”raw matter” used by the brand to create its products. • Fade lamps are made from a polycarbonate shade moulded into a teardrop shape. • The Melt range of pendants, designed to look like mouth-blown glass (collaboration with Swedish studio Front), has been updated with floor and table lamp versions. • A geometric light named Curve "pushes the boundaries of thin sheet etched metal fabrication" with its pierced shell and nickel silver coating. Its punctured shade means that light is emitted as a filtered glow. • The multi-coloured vessels in Dixon’s oil scent collection, are mouth blown into a metal mould to create surface texture. The vessels are then painted black and finished with an irridescent paint and metallic decal. The light refracting from the surface creates the lustrous effect.
Lift-Bit
The Internet of Things Sofa The international design and innovation studio Carlo Ratti Associati presented Lift-Bit, the world's first digitally-transformable sofa. The reconfigurable upholstered seat employs the Internet-of-Things technologies to radically define a new living experience. The prototype of Lift-Bit stems from the combination of a series of single, hexagonal stools. Controlled remotely through a tablet app, each stool can double (or halve) its height in just a few seconds, reconfiguring the space in a myriad of combinations.

WAYS TO LIFT ANY SPACE WITH YELLOW Yellow is a warm, vibrant and happy colour that can give your home lots of good energies. As this colour can be overwhelming, you may want to use variations of yellow such as cream, antique golds, orchre yellows and muddy yellows, in your décor. Here are some ways on how you can incorporate this happy colour in your interior décor.
YOUNG CHILDREN’S ROOM
An ideal place to use yellow is a baby’s or young children’s room. A rocking chair and a colourful bold ceiling light, can lend a cheerful atmosphere to this space. Yellow and variations of this colour can be used sparingly in the rooms as well. Yellow and cream coloured carpet lend a happy feeling to this kid’s room.
22
LIVING AREA
Restyle your living area using some yellow items such as a retro chairs, throw pillows, coffee table, carpet, wall lights, staircase, wallpaper, and more.

FOCAL POINT, FEATURE WALL & PAINTINGS
A feature wall in yellow and white can make a stunning transformation to a living space. The use of clear glass windows is also an important factor because the natural light will magnify the yellow design in the living area. Paintings or pictures in shades of yellow hung on the wall lend a cheerful note to the area
BEDROOM, BATHROOM & HALLWAYS
Hallways and bedrooms can benefit from strong, saturated shades of yellow. The shade will create the illusion of light. Buttery yellow walls add a warm glow that makes a room feel cozy, while muted yellow walls can make a room feel peaceful. A chest of drawers in vibrant yellow can brighten up the place but if you find the colour a little overwhelming, opt for curtains or bed linens in hues of yellow. Mirrors with antique gold or warm yellow border can even uplift an otherwise plain bathroom.
24
KITCHEN, DINING & PANTRY
Most people opt for a neutral colour in the kitchen. However, yellow cabinets add zest to your kitchen. If it is overpowering, you can opt for a single item, such as an oven or even a refrigerator in yellow, to punch up the space. Open shelves in a white or grey kitchen can be immediately lifted with dashes of yellow. If you are brave enough, you can even set an energetic mood in your pantry by painting the shelves or walls yellow. Sunny yellow dining chairs can be a great option to take the dining space notch up. Even a vase full of beautiful and fresh yellow flowers set on a brown dining table can do the trick.

OMEDEC, the multiple awardwinning exhibition, takes the stage once again at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 29 April to 2 May 2016 and true to form, the four-day event will feature, among others, SHOWHOME 2016 – Highlighting Gen-Y Living & Design. Whilst last year’s HOMEDEC showcased designs to fit the elderly, this year’s exhibition plays up interior design concepts for Gen-Y, complemented by the incorporation of technological features. These three life-size show units, designed by interior design companies, will unveil an explosion of ideas, themes, designs and styles, with immaculate space planning and unique ideas. The Gen-Y Living & Design showcase will not only reflect the local and practical aspirations for the younger generation, including young couples and families, but also incorporate the technology they use in their daily

P-INK SPACE by Turn Design life – Wi-Fi connectivity integration and highspeed broadband services. The three showhouse units are Scandustrial, designed by Skycreation + dc, P-INK SPACE by Turn Design and HOUSE OF Y by Joy Design Studio. Scandustrial (Scandinavian and Industrial design), is a term coined by Skycreation + dc and this showunit will feature the minimalist and warm character of Scandinavian decor with the raw, rustic industrial style. The combination of both styles creates an exciting blend of design that especially appeals to the Gen Y crowd, said Astley Ng, the Regional Design Principal of Skycreation + dc. He added that since the colours employed in these two themes are essentially neutrals, “pops of colour through accessorising will be added to various parts of the interior to accentuate and to create the individual identity of the occupant”. P-INK SPACE by Turn Design is designed by Christopher Chan, Managing Director and Jeff Lee, Design Consultant. It is designed to reflect the harmony and balance between functional, spatial and stylish space and a sophisticated ambience. The Gen-Ys, the children of the baby boomers, are perceived as familiar with digital and electronic technology. “The Gen-Y has an entirely different attitude towards their lifestyle and work. They do not live to work, they work to live. Thus, P-INK SPACE is designed with the intention to summon a perfect harmony with functional spatial yet stylish and a sophisticated ambience,” said Christopher Chan. The HOUSE OF Y by Joy Design Studio, is a
space that jives with the Gen Y lifestyle and needs. As Gen-Ys are the generation that grew up with technology, they are more comfortable with digital electronic systems integrated to their lifestyle, said Ariff Rijal Shamsul Rijal of Joy Design Studio. As such, The HOUSE OF Y defines the effective utilisation of space and function, bringing together architecture, furniture and the occupants into a much harmonised blend, he said. The life-sized show homes are designed and built on-site within two days before the exhibition opens to the public. The designs are planned
