Congratulations to Team Malaysia for participating in the Veterans Hockey World Cup (men) in the category +65 years taking place in Cape Town, South Africa.

One of the focus areas of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2024 is to raise awareness amongst seniors on the importance of adopting an active lifestyle.

Your participation in the Veterans Hockey World Cup will certainly do this and hopefully, inspire and motivate a lot more seniors to participate in sporting activities. This international event will witness 17 countries vying for the title, but more importantly it showcases camaraderie, sportsmanship and the healthy gathering of veterans who are actively competing at the highest level.

To the officials in charge of the Malaysia Veterans Hockey World Cup (men) +65 years, I extend my gratitude for the hard work and commitment in preparing the team for this world event.

Finally, my best wishes to the team. Play with true sportsmanship, enjoy the games, the fellowship and make the nation proud.

Thank you.

SALAM SEJAHTERA

SALAM MALAYSIA MADANI

I am honoured to be given this opportunity to say a few words in this Veterans World Cup Hockey souvenir magazine.

This magazine showcases some of the legends in Malaysian Hockey who have represented Malaysia domestically at the highest levels and in the Olympics and World Cup.

I am elated to be associated with these Veterans who still spew energy on the field. My appointment as the Manager of this Team personally means a great deal as I have been always an advocate for sports and love sports generally and I am glad to be occasionally playing hockey with these veterans at the RSC club.

I see this 65 and above category veterans who are actively committed and participating at the highest level as an impetus to all seniors.

It is been said that “Age is No Barrier its a Limitation we put in our minds” and this team of which i am the proud Manager is the epitome of this quote that Age is not a barrier.

I wish these exemplary Veterans all the Best in this World Cup and i am certain we will go in fighting to the best of our ability.

Thank you.
