Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) Project Riyadh Dry Port (RDP) BAAS International Group emerged as the winner outbidding all major players in the shipping industry to win the SRO project to handle all container movements in Riyadh Dry Port (RDP). Riyadh Dry Port is the hub of all commercial and business activities in Riyadh. RDP first opened in 1982 to enable the importers in the Central Region to receive their cargo directly from King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam to Riyadh by train. RDP handles more than 250,000 TEUs transported by rail annually. The total area of the RDP is about a million square meters, which includes (6) warehouses of which the area of each is 6,480 sq.mtr. BIG aims to double the number of TEU’s handled every 5 years thereby bringing in more revenue to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. BAAS International Group (BIG’s) role in this project is to operate and modernize the Riyadh Dry Port by installing the latest “State of the Art” technologies. As a part of this program, BIG entered into an agreement with NAVIS to install, implement and configure the world’s most advanced terminal operating system into RDP. NAVIS software will assist to expedite all port operations efficiently for the next 10years. Also BIG is in cooperation with SAP, the world leader in ERP applications and the fourth largest software company in the world, to run the Billings, Human Resources,Materials Management and Sales and Distribution modules at the RDP facilities. Additionally, entire port will operate on the latest technological innovationsby Teklogix-PsiLog Wi-Fi equipment enabling it to compete with theglobal players in the international market.
NAVIS has implemented SPARCS N4 V2.3, XPS and ECN4 as a part of leveraging the port to enable all the users to receive, locate, track and deliver containers more efficiently and effectively. SAP will run all the billings generated by the container movement collaborating with Bank AlBilad which will generate payrolls along with effective warehouses maintenance at the RDP. BaasKaar, the partner of BIG in various IT projects, has implemented the SAP ERP system for this project.

NAVIS combines industry best practices with innovative software and world - class services to enable Terminals maximize performance and reduce risk. NAVIS software has 3 parts – SPARCS N4 V2.3, XPS and ECN4. Riyadh Dry Port has implemented the latest software technology release from NAVIS. It is called SPARCS N4 V2.3. NAVIS SPARCS N4 V2.3 started from October 2nd 2012 at Riyadh Dry Port, Phase I. XPS and ECN4 are the second set of modules which started on March 23rd, Phase II NAVIS SPARCS N4 V2.3 is not only the most advanced terminal operating system, but also delivers the most up-to-date innovations to optimize operations, directly based on the needs of NAVIS global customer base. NAVIS SPARCS N4 V2.3 is Data Entry, Report Generation and Container Tracking along with Gate and Rail Modules. Riyadh Dry Port is the 1st Port in Saudi Arabia to Implement NAVIS SPARCS N4 V2.3. XPS “Planning & Control” concept enables operators to work efficiently and react immediately to changes in operating conditions. ECN4 will integrate with the Wi-Fi Connections enabling proper communication between equipment like Trucks, Reach Stackers, Straddle Carriers and the Operations department. XPS and ECN4 will fully automate the yard thereby increasing production and scalability. Tracking of containers, monitoring the drivers and tally clerks can be easily controlled.
All the Tally Clerks, Trailer Drivers and truck Drivers will be trained to use the equipment. A special Equipment Controller will be in charge of maintaining and enabling the proper usage of the equipment. The Yard Planners, Rail Planners and Operations Managers will design and track the movement of containers inside the yard. All Custom agents and brokers will have daily, weekly and monthly report on the movement of containers from one location to another. Riyadh Dry Port is the 5th port worldwide which is fully automated with SPARCS N4 V 2.3, XPS and ECN4.
