Let's Bash! JOWEE OMICIL Born in Montreal to Haitian parents, multi instrumentalist-composer-educator-producer Jowee (pronounced “Joey”) Omicil brings a novel and distinctly Afro-Haitian perspective to his music. He’s part of a growing cadre of Caribbean-descended artists bringing new flavours to the creative music spectrum. One who possesses a distinctive, soulful and spiritual sound on saxophones and flutes that extends to his clarinet and harmonica ventures. Jowee recorded Let's Bash! - his first ‘international’ album release - in the south of France alongside a dozen fellow militants of groove, during a week when the full moon shone above. Jowee infuses his music with the freedom of jazz, the spirituality of gospel, and an aural universe of soul-shaking grooves. Music which speaks to body and mind, in which melodic storytelling is essential, his Creole roots blending with gospel, soul, hip hop culture and world folklore, while paying homage to his jazz forefathers from Charlie Parker to Ornette Coleman to Wayne Shorter. As for Let’s Bash!, it is at once a battle cry and a declaration of love which conceals a fine profession of faith : I want jazz to be popular again.

S'habituer Ă l'obscuritĂŠ KRISMENN Some artists forge a path that is specifically, uniquely, their own, inhabiting a musical orbit untrodden by any before them. Christophe Le Menn, aka Krismenn, is such an artist. Taking traditional Breton song and transmogrifying it through the media of hip-hop and electronics to present ancient culture as a contemporary force. Krismenn travelled through Central Brittany in order to learn the Breton language and traditional singing from the elders. This learning process led him to singing in the first Kreiz Breizh Akademi orchestra 'Norkst' and to following the teachings of Erik Marchand and various world music artists from Brittany, Albania and India. Explorer of rhythms and rhymes, Krismenn knows how to highlight the music of the Breton language in a modern and personal way of singing. Originally performing solo with backing tapes and loops, or sometimes in duo with human beat-box phenomenon Alem, Krismenn's first international release sees him with a band for the first time - electronics alongside biniou (Breton bagpipes), shaking the aesthetics and traditions of Breton musical culture to the core.
