RELEASE DATE 24TH FEBRUARY 2017

Transparent Water OMAR SOSA & SECKOU KEITA Transparent Water is the new studio collaboration between seven-time GRAMMY-nominated pianist-composer-bandleader Omar Sosa, from Cuba, and UK-based Senegalese kora master and singer Seckou Keita arguably the most influential and inspiring kora player of his generation, an exceptional and charismatic musician Sosa's work with Keita enhances the already fascinating discographies of both artists. With the help of several other cosmopolitan artists, the two musicians have put together an innovative album on which freedom and improvisation are the keys to a profoundly spiritual brand of music. Full of serenity and a sense of gentle elation, it also comes across as an antidote to the turmoil of the world.

Transparent Water came about after a series of chance musical encounters, beginning in 2012 in London, when Sosa first heard Keita play. The recording was helmed in the studio by UK jazz great Steve Arguelles. Seckou Keita has achieved notable critical and commercial success in the UK with his multi-award winning duo record with Welsh harpist Catrin Finch, Clychau Dibon, and it's solo follow-up, 22 Strings. The Roc DANIEL HERSKEDAL Over the last two years, Daniel Herskedal, Helge Andreas Norbakken and Eyolf Dale (also on Edition) have defined themselves as one of the most unique and innovative small ensembles in Europe today, bringing together a vast mix of influences from Folk, Jazz, Classical and Arabic music. A strong Arabic influence runs throughout The Roc, which has its roots in inspiring trips Herskedal made to Syria, Lebanon and Palestine. The album title itself is a reference to the great bird of pan-Asian mythology. Herskedal is a musician with a clear and bold vision. He knows exactly what he wants to create, and on The Roc he does so with world-class precision. The richness of Herskedal’s brass, the subtle groove of Norbakken’s rhythms, Dale’s spacious cluster-chords and melodic lyricism and Daniel’s orchestrations for the trio and the characterful contribution of the strings reach deep into the soul.

Landed in Brooklyn JULIAN & ROMAN WASSERFUHR For their 5th album, the German brothers trumpeter Julian and pianist Roman Wasserfuhr are in Brooklyn. For this new album, their fifth for Act, the idea had emerged that the magic of the city of New York, as a force to propel and lift them, should became the concept behind the album. Three of the city's finest musicians were enlisted: First and foremost among those inspirers is saxophonist Donny McCaslin, the lynchpin of David Bowie’s last revelatory masterpiece “Blackstar”. Tim Lefebvre, known in Europe for his work with the Michael Wollny Trio, and also a member of Bowie’s last band is equally at home in jazz and in rock contexts. Nate Wood is an in-demand first call drummer and close associate of Donny McCaslin. Very little had been agreed or set down in advance when Julian and Roman Wasserfuhr arrived at the studio to meet the top-drawer American players. They had brought the sheet music of some pieces with them, but the guiding principle was to see what would transpire and to let things happen. This glorious and revelatory recording is the result.

RELEASE DATE 24TH FEBRUARY 2017

Potsdamer Platz JAN LUNDGREN Jan Lundgren's starting point is his rootedness in the American jazz piano tradition, which was what first brought him together with mainstream players such as Harry Allen and Scott Hamilton. And yet his music is also deeply infused with the musical language of his native Scandinavia. He is a superbly skillful, classically trained musician who knows the Western tradition well, but that heritage always co-exists quite naturally in his music with swing, with Nordic melancholy and a quicksilver impressionistic wit. All of the pieces (except “Tväredet”) are his compositions. These are personal works, which flourish and blossom in this perfect setting. Lundgren has assembled a group which can really own these pieces, and give them stylistic heft and meaning. Melodic duties are the domain of the great Finnish alto saxophonist Jukka Perko. In the rhythm section, the drummer is the Dane Morten Lund, a stalwart of Jan Lundgren's regular trio since 2000. On the bass is Lundgren’s fellow Swede Dan Berglund, who for a long time played exclusively in the renowned Esbjörn Svensson Trio.

The one thing that definitely could not be said about Lundgren and his fellow musicians on this album - recorded at the Hansa Studios in Potsdamer Platz, Berlin - is that they have played it safe in any way. All four of them just dive into the torrents of this music, try out new things, they are bold in everything they do, and yet the music never tips over into inaccessibility. Track listing: 1. Potsdamer Platz 5:20 2. No. 9 4:42 3. Lycklig Resa 6:03 4. Bullet Train 5:23 5. The Poet 5:33 6. Never Too Late 4:49 7. Twelve Tone Rag 4:23 8. Song For Jörgen 5:53 9. Dance Of Masja 6:25 10. On The Banks Of The Seine 4:43 11. Tväredet 3:53
