Parallax PHRONESIS Years of performing, touring and recording have given the three members of Phronesis a matchless rapport, which inspires an ever-flowing fountain of new music, captured to perfection on this, the Anglo-Scandinavian trio’s sixth CD album and their fourth for Edition Records. Recorded in a single day at London’s fabled Abbey Road studios, Parallax is a brilliantly realised piece of music-making. It has all the standout features of the trio’s work - rhythmic drive, constant shifts in mood and texture, drama heightened by dazzlingly fast reactions - all leavened by a melodic sense all three draw on as much when improvising as composing. They negotiate sometimes complex arrangements while retaining a spontaneity of suggestion and response that keeps the listener on the edge of their seat every time. “...the most electrifying experience to be had in British jazz" DAILY TELEGRAPH

RELEASE DATE 8TH APRIL 2016
The Opposite of Time BRIAN CULLMAN There’s a long and tangled history behind this album that belies the ease and naturalness of the music. Brian Cullman's eclectic career has seen him hanging out with Nick Drake and Sandy Denny in London, playing with Robert Quine, Mark Knopfler and Syd Straw, travelling around Morocco with Bill Laswell and the musicians of Jajouka, fronting his band OK Savant with Vernon Reid on guitar, studio production for Lucinda Williams and Sussan Deyhim... All this alongside a career as an award-winning journalist for Creem, Rolling Stone, Village Voice, Spin and more. His new album continues the work he began with All Fires the Fire (2008), but pares down the sound, opening the windows to let in as much light and as much air as possible, with most tracks recorded live in the studio to maintain a sense of spontaneity. Jenni Muldaur is on backing vocals as is Irish chanteuse Leni Morrison (of The Darling Sins), Glenn Patscha (Ollabelle, Sheryl Crow) plays piano and organ, Byron Isaacs (Ollabelle, Levon Helm) plays bass, Aaron Johnston & Didi Gutman from the Brazilian Girls are on drums & keyboards, respectively, Jimi Zhivago (Glen Hansard, Rufus Wainwright, Kim Taylor) plays guitar, and Hector Castillo (David Bowie, Bjork, Lou Reed) engineered and mixed.
