HELLO AGAIN
A very warm welcome to the second edition of ‘Voyager’ Magazine.
The purpose of the magazine is two-fold, firstly, to bring you details of some of our upcoming events in one handy document, and secondly, to provide some interesting content for you to read and share with friends.
There have been some exciting developments at Harmony HQ since our last edition, as we have opened our first high street travel shop, bringing our products and customer focused experience to our local community, as well as providing our new and existing clients a trusted platform to consider when booking independent holidays.
At Harmony Voyages, we understand the importance of financial security when parting with your hard-earned money and feeling ‘heard’ when you have a specific requirement. We’re a small team with the customer right at the centre of everything we do. Join us at one of our Costa music festival holidays, where you can try your hand at watercolour painting, join the Pilates & Tai Chi classes, learn to play the Ukulele, enjoy one of the varied excursions that are on offer, join the daily birdwatching walks, or simply sit back relax and dip in and out of the concerts at leisure.
Maybe you prefer the intimacy of a small group tour, or you would rather embark on an adventure of your own. We know that our customers want more than just a holiday, they want experiences and adventures that will create long-lasting memories. Whether you choose to travel as part of a group or independently, we are with you every step of the way.
I hope you enjoy this edition of ‘Voyager’ magazine, and if you do join us at one of our events or holidays in 2025 or 2026, I will perhaps see you there! Call one of our travel experts on 01200 318308 to chat about your next exciting adventure.

TAILOR-MADE TRAVEL
We look forward to assisting you in planning your next extraordinary journey.
A Musical Pilgrimage: Nashville to Vegas
Harmony Voyages Directors, Angie, Andy & Steve took a journey through America’s musical heartland in November 2024 with a view to putting together a small group tour. Let us know what you think via the QR Code on page 11, which takes you to a form to express your interest in joining a future tour!
NASHVILLE: Where Music Lives And Breathes
Our adventure began in Nashville, the beating heart of country music. As dawn broke over Music City, we began our tour and the start of many cultural discoveries.
Walking down Broadway is an assault on the senses in the best possible way. Music spills from every doorway, a cacophony of country tunes competing for attention. It’s overwhelming and exhilarating all at once. The Country Music Hall of Fame Museum provided a perfect refuge, offering a deep dive into the genre’s rich history.
For lunch, we escaped the crowded bars and discovered a hidden gem - a bustling food hall offering a smorgasbord of choices through various kiosks. The evening ended with a memorable dinner, setting the perfect tone for our musical adventure.
Studio B & Musical Legends
Day two brought us to the legendary Studio B, where our exceptional guide, Evan, breathed life into the venue and recalled many fascinating stories from the place where endless hits were born.
Did you know that Elvis wanted to record Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You”? His manager Colonel Tom Parker, also wanted Dolly to sign over the rights to the song.
Dolly’s response to whether she regretted turning him down made us smile: “I made so much money from Whitney Houston’s version that I could buy Graceland three times over!”
Pro tip: Do the Grand Ole Opry after the tour and museum, in retrospect, visiting the Ryman Museum first would provide better historical context.
Off the Beaten Path: Poplar Bluff and Beyond
Our journey took an interesting turn as we headed to Poplar Bluff. Dinner at a unique steakhouse where throwing peanut shells on the floor is tradition, offered a slice of authentic American culture. While the town itself was quiet, it served as a perfect gateway to our next adventure.
BRANSON:
Where Entertainment Meets Americana
Branson offered a unique blend of experiences. The HogWild off-road adventure provided thrills, though the scenery wasn’t quite what we’d imagined. The town itself is fascinating, if a bit provincial. The highlight was undoubtedly the Million Dollar Quartet show, and whilst the food was pretty forgettable, the performance brilliantly captured the magic of Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins at Sun Records.
Into the Ozarks
The morning began with a disappointing breakfast, but the day quickly improved as we ventured into the Mark Twain National Forest. The River View Trail in the Ozarks proved stunning, and we discovered a delightful brunch spot in Van Buren - a quirky, almost surreal little town that perfectly embodied small-town America.
MEMPHIS: Music’s Sacred Ground
Memphis required some careful navigation - it’s not the safest city for nighttime wandering. However, Graceland proved to be everything we’d hoped for and more, offering intimate insights into Elvis’s life through his home, cars, and planes.
A Mississippi River boat trip provided a peaceful afternoon, followed by a delicious dinner on Beale Street - a secure, police-monitored entertainment district that offers safe harbour for music loving tourists.
LAS VEGAS: Where Desert Meets Decadence
Touching down in Las Vegas is like arriving on another planet. The “Strip” stretches before you like a glittering mirage in the desert, each hotel-casino more grandiose than the last. By day, the desert sun bounces off golden-windowed towers; by night, the city erupts in a symphony of neon and LED screens that turn darkness into a technicolour dream.
The sensory overload is intense but intoxicating. The gentle tinkling of slot machines creates a constant backdrop to the excited chatter of tourists from every corner of the globe. The hotels themselves are theatrical productions: Venice complete with gondolas, Paris with its half-scale Eiffel Tower, New York City compressed into a single city block.
Walking the Strip at night, you’re treated to the choreographed waters of the Bellagio fountains dancing to classical music and Sinatra classics,.
But perhaps the most striking addition to the Vegas skyline is “The Sphere” - a technological marvel that defies description. This massive spherical structure, standing 366 feet tall and 516 feet wide, is wrapped in the world’s largest LED screen, transforming into everything from a giant eyeball to a rotating planet Earth that seems to hover above the desert floor.
Inside The Sphere, we experienced “Postcard from Earth,” Darren Aronofsky’s groundbreaking immersive film that redefines what cinema can be. The presentation unfolds on the largest LED screen on Earth, wrapping around and above you in a perfect sphere. The clarity is almost supernatural - every dewdrop on a leaf, every grain of sand in the desert feels tangible enough to touch. The film takes you on a breathtaking journey across our planet, from the depths of the ocean to the peaks of mountains, from bustling cities to remote wilderness.
What makes the experience truly extraordinary is the haptic seating that allows you to feel the rumble of waterfalls and the beat of tribal drums, while 164,000 speakers create a sound sphere that completely envelops you. The film’s message about our planet’s beauty and fragility becomes all the more powerful when experienced at this scale and with this level of immersion.
“The Sphere” - a technological marvel that defies description.
Beyond the Neon: Engineering Marvels and Natural Wonders
Just a short drive from the artificial wonders of Vegas lies one of humanity’s greatest engineering achievements - the Hoover Dam. This concrete colossus, curving between the rocky cliffs of the Black Canyon, holds back the mighty Colorado River to form Lake Mead. Walking across the dam’s top, you get a visceral sense of the immense power contained within.
But nothing prepares you for the Grand Canyon. After the manufactured spectacle of Vegas, the Canyon’s natural majesty is humbling. As the sun begins its descent, the layered rocks transform into a canvas of deep purples, blazing oranges, and subtle pinks. The shadows lengthen, creating an ever-changing display of light and shadow across the vast expanse. Standing at the rim as the day ends, watching the sun sink below the horizon, you understand why this place has captivated humans for millennia.
Travel Tips
In Nashville, take the trolley tour on your first day - it’s an excellent orientation
Visit the Ryman Museum before the Grand Ole Opry for better historical context
Exercise caution in Memphis - stick to tourist areas and avoid walking at night
Make time for both Studio B and the Country Music Hall of Fame
Don’t miss the food halls in Nashville for a great lunch option
Plan your Grand Canyon visit for sunset - the play of light on the canyon walls creates an unforgettable natural light show
Wear comfortable shoes - the Las Vegas Strip is deceptively long, and distances between hotels are further than they appear
Stay hydrated in Vegas and at the Grand Canyon - the desert climate can be surprisingly challenging for visitors
