eunion 2015 will be here soon on May 1 and 2. I know you have been hearing from your class chairs about weekend plans and are looking forward to reconnecting with your classmates. I am always amazed by the way women who haven’t seen each other in five or more years quickly pick up just where they left off and enjoy sharing memories of their teen years and days together at Harpeth Hall. It is a time to reminisce and revisit. In addition to seeing your friends, you will have opportunities to walk the beautiful campus and see all the changes that have taken place since you last visited, and believe me there are many. The campus is not the only thing that has changed, so has the leadership. Join me this year as we welcome Stephanie Balmer as the 6th Head of School. I know you will enjoy meeting her! So make your plans now, and I will see you there! Frances Berry Spradley ’75 2015 REUNION CHAIR

Distinguished Alumna Gina Klein Jorasch ’81

ALEDICTORIAN of the Class of 1981, Gina Klein Jorasch was a student of STEM before STEM was “cool.” Graduating Magna Cum Laude from Yale University with a BS in Applied Mathematics in 1985, she then earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) as well as a master’s degree in Educational Administration and Policy Analysis from the Graduate School of Education in 1989. Gina has excelled in an industry where women comprise only 6 percent of the chief executives of top tech companies. She began her career in high-tech businesses such as Hewlett Packard, Silicon Graphics, and C-ATS Software. In 1995, she became director of marketing for VeriSign, a company developing the infrastructure to enable secure transactions on the Internet, and led efforts that grew VeriSign’s revenues from start-up to one billion dollars in five years. In 2005, Gina, her husband, Craig, and another partner co-founded Nexo Systems, an online private social networking platform, acquired by Shutterfly in 2008.

Gina then returned to Stanford as director of the Center for Social Innovation, which supports individuals and organizations seeking solutions for social and environmental problems. Three years later she helped launch the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies (SEED) and SEED’s first regional center in Accra, Ghana, serving a region of 300 million people in West Africa, 70 percent of whom earn less than two dollars a day. Gina currently teaches at Stanford’s GSB, is working with a new software start-up, and consults with the Stanford Research Institute International, a nonprofit research and innovation institute and early sponsor of the computer mouse, Siri, and medical ultrasounds. She has also served on several nonprofit boards, including TheatreWorks, Palo Alto Partners in Education, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Silicon Valley Social Venture Partners, a network of 200 individuals whose pooled resources have awarded over $3.5 million in grants for service projects locally and throughout the world. We welcome Gina back to Harpeth Hall as the recipient of the 2015 Distinguished Alumna Award.
