Design Process Restaurant Branding:

Front and back elevation

For my AS work my brief was to create a branding for my own restaurant. I explored a range of cuisines during my research stage but I decided to go forward with an Indian restaurant brand called ‘Herbs & Spices’.

Logo making:

I decided to take a chilli and use a Photoshop brush to add in a leaf. The leaf is to represent the herbs and the chilli is to represent the spices.

The idea is for herbs to be in green to resemble the general green leaf of a herb. Then the chilli which is combined with the leaf is then there to represent the chilli. I then added in the HERB and SPICES in the middle as it would be the name of the restaurant. I thought about how important it is for the meaning and the restaurant to link therefore I decided to add an image of a leaf in as I believed that this was the finishing touches to the logo.

Inspiration

I took the influence from the menus from Pannas. They are a Indians restaurant based in London. Their menu inspired me to create something which represented the middle eastern taste. As you can see through the menu design process I have maintained the simple design layout. I used a range of different downloaded brushes to make the patterns on the menu.

Design Process

For my A2 branding project I designed a branding for my own events company. This is my process for the Logo making stage. I went through a range of different ideas before I came to my final logo design. The downloaded brushes have been arranged together to produce patterns. I decided to do patterns as they resemble henna patterns that individuals wear at weddings.

Events Management Branding: This slide explains alternative design I created for the business cards. This is my process for the Logo making stage. I went through a range of different ideas before I came to my final logo design. The downloaded brushes have been arranged together to produce patterns. I decided to do patterns as they resemble henna patterns that individuals wear at weddings. I experimented between the two different pattern colours as I wanted to make sure that the colour scheme would work.

I looked at other website examples for events companies and used them as inspiration. I also looked at influences for the wedding show ticket. I added the right information and also patterns and the same colour scheme keeping in line with the brand. Please note: The images used on the website page (right) are not mine, however were used to create the webpage for educational purposes.

I have also added in my own development process as I wanted to get used to the style of Kelly Thorne. Each time I tried a piece I tried to adapt it to TFL more and more. I added more detail to each poster by adding in more words and features to the buildings.

Final Exam Piece 1

1st development piece

A2 ExamEvolution: My theme for my last exam was based around evolution. The exam board gave us the word evolution to focus on and the final end idea did not have to focus on evolution itself. I chose TFL as my client and used typography to advertise TFL to tourists that come to London.

2nd development piece

Design Process

During my development I came up with a range of different ideas and explored a range of artists. However one graphics designer in particular that I focused on was Kelly Thorn. Her work consisted of making her own images and displaying them around a centred title that would explain a particular destination. I was influenced by the work of Kelly Thorn and the TFL underground map to create the poster above. I designed each building from scratch using the shapes on Adobe Photoshop and any self taken images to recreate the buildings. I also included any necessary logos and details needed to finish off the poster.

Final Exam Piece 2

This was my second piece that I created in the exam. The poster was influenced from some styles of typography I found on the internet. Please see the first few pages of my exam tumblr (http://harpreetahadia2exam.tumblr.com/) to see the influences of this poster. The influences consist of one style creating buildings out of words and the second style uses silhouettes of buildings. I added in downloaded brush marks which I created a background off and used the shapes on Adobe Photoshop to create the other aspects such as the busses and buildings.
