did you know? Basins were originally referred to as ‘lavatories’, from the Latin ‘Lavare‘ - meaning to wash. People said that they were going to the ‘lavatory’ - meaning that they were going to wash their hands, when they were really going to visit the WC!

Our wash stands are supplied with 1 cm ‘U’ pipes that you screw into the floor at the point where the two stand legs touch the floor. This device then fits into the hollow recess at the bottom of the legs. This creates more rigidity for the stand. In addition the top of the stand is adjustable - so that you have a level basin, even if the floor is uneven.

All WC’s have NanoGlaze in the bowl. Nanoglaze is a coating that reduces microscopic pores in the ceramic surface making the ceramic smoother - as a result less waste ‘sticks’ to the ceramic making cleaning far easier All our WC’s have box (not open) rims. Whilst this is more difficult to manufacture it does ensure that the water from the flush is correctly spread on the pan internal - so that you don’t have any ‘dry areas’ that don’t get cleaned with each flush

All our WC’s are fitted with water saving dual flush cistern fittings. They are factory set at 3 & 6 litres and can be adjusted to 2 1/2 & 4 1/2 litres if required. We have registered our design of the first traditional dual flush cistern fitting (push the ceramic lever down in the normal way for a 4½ litre flush - and push it up for a 2½ litre flush!)

Our high level cistern ‘chain’ is a rigid chrome pipe to allow you to push up for the 3 litre water saver or pull down for a 6 litre flush. Now you can have a high level cistern whilst saving water too! ll our flush pipes are supplied with a A chrome plated brass flush pipe nut cover to hide the waste nut outlet at the base of the cistern. Our nut cover has a reverse internal thread - so you can screw it onto the cistern waste outlet. Whilst this is far more complex to manufacture it ensures that the flush pipe cover does not ‘fall down’ over time.

Our basins exceed the British BS 3402-1969 and European standards EN 31-1999. Whilst these standards allow for a tolerance of 1 mm / 100 mm we use a standard of 1 mm per 133 mm - so the basins you receive are far more consistent. All our ceramic is fired at 1,200 degrees centigrade for a minimum of seventeen hours. Whilst this is more difficult to control the bowing of product - it does ensure that our products exceed the European water retention standard of 0.5%. Every single Burlington WC pan is both water tested for flushing and air pressure tested for leaks. Whilst air pressure testing is unusual, by pumping air at 0.015MPA(0.15bar) bar into the pan for 30 seconds one can ensure that there are no leaks.

Burlington What is Burlington Regal? WCs
O
ur Regal height WC is one that is just a little bit higher than a regular toilet. An average toilet is between 41cm and 42cm tall. The height of a Regal WC pan is 48.5cm, add on 2.5cm for the seat and you get a height of 51cm - about the same height as most chairs!!
So, why make the Regal WC choice? Because it is much easier getting on and off. You do not have to have limited mobility either to appreciate the higher seat. It is easier on the legs while sitting if the seat is in the higher range. Of course, the size of the person using the bathroom should be considered if possible: if Aunt Agnes is 4’-10”, the Regal would probably not provide comfort! And remember - the WC only uses 4½ litres of water for a full flush!!

All our granite and marble is treated with SCI速 Stone Spray-N-Seal, a water based penetrating sealer that protects natural stone surfaces and limits water ingress and staining.
Carrara is a city in Tuscany, Italy. It is on the Carrione river, some 100 km west-northwest of Florence.
All our basins are factory fitted to the marble/ granite. Whilst this makes transport & packaging far more difficult it stabilises the slab whilst in transport and ensures that the basin is properly fitted in the correct position.
Granites can be pink to dark grey or black (we supply black only), depending on their chemistry and mineralogy. Granite is massive (lacking internal structures), hard and tough, and therefore it ideal for use in a bathroom. The average density of granite is 2.75 g/cm3

Our Slimline WC’s are only 44 centimetres wide - allowing for easy fitting in small cloakrooms All our seats are specifically designed and made to fit our toilet pans - so there is a perfect fit every time. Each seat has a chrome Burlington plaque on the underside of the lid. Burlington is the first British Traditional Designed range available that enables water savings! Water flow in a normal traditional tap
The clever part in the taps is called an aerator. We believe that the finest manufacturer of aerators is the Swiss manufacturer called Neoperl. So we only use Neoperl. In the UK some homes have low water pressure and some have high water pressure. We supply every tap with two Neoperl devices:
1 Flow straighter – this is for use with low water pressures
2 Aerator
– this is for use with high water pressures

The first showers in the modern era were self- contained units where water could be reused several times. In the early 19th century (probably around 1810) the English Regency Shower was anonymously invented. The original design was over ten feet tall, and was made of several metal pipes painted to look like bamboo. On the top of the unit was a basin connected to these pipes. The water was pumped through a nozzle and over the occupant’s shoulders before being collected and pumped back into the basin! This prototype went through several innovations including hand pumped models, models with several sprayers, and those with interchangeable nozzles. The invention of reliable indoor plumbing around 1850 allowed the freestanding showers to be connected to a running water source, making them easier to use.
