UK Based Sporting Brand To design and develop a new sports or skating range of clothing for 15 to 35 year olds


When starting to respond to the brief I started away from my computer to create a number of things I can relate to whilst and after I finished designing my brand. I started with a brief mind map to start engaging my thoughts into what comes to mind when thinking about sports. After I looked at potential names that could relate to the words i had written down on my mind map. I found that the word Move was very relatable to sports and refenced movement.

I decided that both male and female aged around 15-35 year olds would by the product. Knowing that they will be outgoing , active and would also prefer paying a little more for a quality long lasting product. The people who would by the product would also be an aspirer meanin they would look up to athletes to encourage themselves to do greater things. These first logos were made on photoshop with a simple text layer with a simple font. I created many of the same move fonts and started to layer up other shapes on top of the word move. I experimented with different lines , shapes and patterns. Although these were made on photoshop there is a restriction in what you can do with everything , so I switched to Adobe Illustrator and started to experiment with the paint brush to create a iconic look to the word Move.

As a bit of market research I had look at the brand Nike and how there logo came about.The Nike branding swoosh is one of the most recognizable logos in the world along with others such as Apple , Google , Beats and Mcdonalds.The logo came about when graphic design student at Portland State University. Designers wanted to try and incorporate motion into a logo. The logo itself has gone through minor changes since 1971 an example would be the removal of the name NIKE underneath the swoosh , like how the swoosh is presented on their products. They did this as the swoosh itself is becoming more significant than the name NIKE due the popularity and familiarity to the company. Thinking of this I jumped into Illustrator to try and integrate movement into my logo.

These four logos were the first I made on Adobe Illustrator , I made these by simply just scribbling the word Move in a number of speeds and styles. At the end I photoshopped some of these logos onto products to have a look how they would look upon product and went around to people for feedback.
