For this mountain photo shoot I took images on a ski trip in the frech alps at a resort called Flaine. When takeing the images i though about lighting taking the images in the ‘golden hour to get dynamic lighting as well interesting tones. Also for compastion I have used a lot of negative space. Then when editing the images I have used the curve tool within light room lifting the wights to create a faded filmic look. Then using the main images adjustment tool I have adjested the contrast, blacks, wights, tint and tempter.

Alberto Seveso is a Italyan graphic designer and fine art photographer. Famous for the use of panit being droped to water being photographed. Wich has been used for album art work and many othere canpain for well know and high up clinets. When taking these images crealy thinks about colour and tone used, cobinations, viscosity of paint the water ratio when diloting the paint. He also thinks about lighting creating intrsting shadows and more dinamic images.

For this Photo shoot I have diluted paint with water then filled a large jar with water, then for lighting I have set up one speed light on the left to allow me to get a continuos burst flash ,then on the left I have set up a strobe light on slave mode so that it will fire at the same time as the speed light. After I had set up I pored the diluted paint in to the water wised holding down the shutter on the camrea wich was set to 1/250 of a second to capture a sharp image and at f5 so it would capture a large focal area.

M E I LT I N G WA X O N A C E TAT E For this Image I have stuck a candel on to the top of a peace of ace tate then melted it with maches untill the wax had covered the sheat with drops.

For the images on the left I have fill a large vase with water then mixed milk with powder paint, then set up the vase in frount of a wight background and paced a speed light (Flash) to the left of it alowing me to get a contrast of light and dark shades. Then porded the milk in to the water.

For this image i have brough one of my mountain images in to photoshop, then created a new docment creating a layer mask and droping the image in to the layer mask. I then took my wax images placeing two underneath adding hue and sturation to the wax to make it fit better with image, then with second layer i did the same but used the liquefy tool to strech and warp the wax. Then draging the orinal image in then filping it and lifiying it, this all making the image look like its dripping, this respoding to PHILIPP ZURMĂ–HLE OOZING LANDSCAPES image wich I have refrenced in my inspiration page.

M U LT I P L E E X P O S U R E W I T H M O U N TA I N A N D PA I N T I N WAT E R For this experimentation I have taken one of my mountain images in to photoshop. I then masked out the mountain from the background, Using the mask to add some of my paint images, creating a mutipal exposure effect. After adding a gradient fill to replace the sky.

P O S T P R O D U T I O N / CO LO U R G R A D I N G After filming the clips I then inported the clips in to Premeire (a video editing software). Then cut the clips together in to the timeline. After adusting the cotrast with the curves then the colour tone with a tool could the “Three way colour corector wich adds colour tone or the shadows, midtones and highlights.

For this sequence of video clip recreating my previose still images of paint going in to water. I use a high speed camera that can film at 93fps allowing me to use slow mo to capture the paint going in to the water, where as if I film it in real time the paint would be at the serface in a matter of seconds and you would not see the detal in the paint. Also to light this I have paced a light above and in front of the glass jar to give it some dermatic lighting.

For this clip I have used the blending option ‘difference’ to overlay one of my mountain images with my paint image. Where in which in paint reveals the image behind.

E XP E R ME NTA TION For this I have brought one of my still moutain images and the paint clip in to after effects. Than draged both in to the time line putting the image aboth the clip, adding a keyer to the image to remove the sky. This revleling the paint behind . To finalise the look I used curves one paint clip to get it a bit more contrast and colour tone.

LUDLOW KINGSLEY

Ludlow Kingsley is a creative studio, based in LA. Who focas on brand desinge, aiming to create something new and fun. I have refrened them by the way they have desinged there logos, as it is similar to my Relationship logo/ illustration for the intro of my film. For there logo designs they have used simple rectangeds with moden typephotoghty. For this logo I have open and new document in Illustrator, creating two boxes with a stroke. Then in the bottem box I typed Relationship in the fount Thin Desige as it has a very clean look to it, Increasing the size of R and P and re-alineing them. I then spearated each letter in to a sreprate layer, make it easyer to animate when I bring it over to Affter Effects. In the top box I have use the pen tool to create a mountain shape. Finally I added 2015 and Fur to represent the year and location.

CONVERTING TO GIF

ANIMATING TO MOTION GRAPHICS To make my logo in to an animated piece of motion graphics. I open the Illustrator file in to After Effects, Adding and minus filp effect to the top box and it contence. I did this by filping each layer the X Rotation -180 and seting a keyframe then moving 1 second along the timeline and set the X Rotation back to 0.

24

To convet the motion graphic pieace to a gif Ihave inported the video to layer which puts each frame on the time line, converting it in to images. I then croped the image to make it to a squire format.

ROBBERT FLICK Robbert Flick is best know for produces photographic chronicles of urban and rural landscapes most famuly the three seminal series: In “Midwest diary”. These sequences of individual shots of L.A’s urban vistas which he puts into large grids, which read as filmstrips and as abstract patterns. He also takes mInmilist singal black and wight image of the mid west taking up to 2 year just to compose a image and get the right light.

SCA NS The reason of having to scan my negative is becouse something in the devoloping prosses when wroung, meaning thet the film on one side whent green meaning that the other side whent black. Making it take more that 4 minutes to print one image.

M Y LA Y OUT DESIGNS

For my first layout design I have chosen to have my film projected on to a black wall in a custom aspect ratio to fit with the length of the three A3 images bellow (Two photos and a film poster) which would be lit with led’s abouth as shown. For my second layout I have chosen to have to films runing , my mountain/ paint film on a large flat tv then my travel film on a medium size tv. I would then sarond the tvs with 3 still images, a film poster and a digtal photo frame. All of this would be mounted a wooden board with a shelf for the smaller tv.

The images have been taken whaile Robbert Frank travel though America captureing diffrent cultures.

For this shoot I have traveled to Shoreditch in London to take street photography in response to Robbart Frank and also my shoot from my film in side the airoplaine. When taking these images I have focased on compastion, using a wide angle lens giving a slight destored look to the images. To edit these images I have broung the images in to lightroom and in reponse to Robart Frank have made the images look filmic and also some black and wight. I have created a filmic look by using the curves tool, adding a faded look and also adding a colour tone to the images.

M I K E PAGAN

RYAN BOOTH Mike Pagan is a Director and Cinematographer from Los Angles. I have referenced him for his two of his Filmes. The first being Perception a surf film about Leila hurst. Documenting her life style and the surf culture. The film has a very nice film like faded cinematic look . Which I have chosen to recreate for my film. Mike has used a very dynamic natural light. The second flim being ‘Loose In Los Angeles’, a film about the Los Angeles culture and docmentes his traveling though Los Angeles. Conveyed using landscape shots of road and the plain and the culture is convey by the skate and surf action sport sequences. Ryan Booth is a film maker from Texas, he has done work for such large institution such as MTV, Universal and Spotify. I have referenced him for his to film’s ‘Chapter: 5 Miracal’ and ‘In The Air’. As they realte to the shot in my travel flim, such as the plain shots and shots where im run though landsapes. His way of film it is all simiulare in the wayy of compastion.

W OODLA ND SHOOT For this film/ moving image shoot I have gone to wood land location in contrast to the city and mountains. Reating to the tavel theam of the film by use a seddy cam walking a fast pace though the wood land, the seddy cam allowing me to a smoth and seddy shot. I have also filmed some static shot shoot as well and some dinamic tracking shots. When going to shoot this seqence I also thought about time of day to get intresting lighting, desiding on going in the evening allowed from the sun to pass though and tree and give a intresting warm tone.

London Vic shoot referencing to time lapes

TIM E LA PS PHOTOGRA PHY Time laps photography is a process in which tilm is sped by iver taking a video clip and speeding it up, or by taking intervaled images and then convering it to a 24 Frames per second to moving image. For this clip I have flimed a 5 minuet time lapes, from a high point of view of Victoria to capture the movment of commuter and other people traving though. I have then taken the clip in to premire (a video editing software), draging the clip in to the time line and then using speed/ duration to speed it up by 2000%. Then I have adjusted the colour and tone of the clip using the RGB cerevs.
