HRI SCREENING OF DEEP IN THE HEART DRAWS HUNDREDS TO TAMU-CC

In September 2022, HRI was honored to invite campus and local communities to a very special screening of the Texas wildlife film, “Deep in the Heart” at the TAMU-CC Performing Arts Center (PAC). The screening was part of the PAC’s annual Furgason BRAVO! Series, so tickets were free of charge.

“Deep in the Heart” is a visually stunning celebration of what makes Texas unique — its diverse landscapes and remarkable wildlife behavior that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Told through the eyes of wildlife species ranging from the mysterious blind catfish to the elusive mountain lion, the story follows our ever-changing relationship with the natural world and showcases our ability to destroy, conserve, and recover wildlife and the habitat we mutually depend on. “Deep in the Heart” aims to conserve our remaining wild places, to show the connectivity of water and wildlife, and to recognize Texas’ conservation importance on a continental scale.

HRI acted alongside many Texas conservation organizations as a “Take Action” partner for the film, providing valuable scientific expertise about coastal Texas and the Gulf of Mexico.

The over 400 guests in attendance had the opportunity to see the first film shown on the PAC’s new state-of-the-art video wall and talk to other local and state conservation organizations who lent their expertise to the film’s production team including Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the Coastal Conservation Association, Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute, and more.
