hope and social AND SPECIAL GUESTS We make timeless music and give it away, like our brand new album All Our Dancing Days. We involve people in everything we do, and they never fail to amaze us. We have fun and make art. We create events to remember. We talk about what we do and stuff we care about. We hail from Yorkshire in the north of England, where we have an enigmatic studio called The Crypt.

We share what we learn from the mistakes that we make. Fingers crossed, we will die with our hearts out in bloom. We are Hope and Social, lovely to meet you. P.S. We have a project called Crypt Covers. hopeandsocial.com

AN EVENING WITH JEFF STELLING There’s a night of premier league entertainment in store at Hartlepool’s Town Hall Theatre when the curtain rises on An Evening With Jeff Stelling. The Hartlepool legend will be interviewed by the BBC’s Mark ‘Clem’ Clemmit about his life, career and beloved Hartlepool United Football Club in a show brimming with humour and fascinating insights into the world of football and sports broadcasting. Jeff is best known for his anchorman role on Sky TV’s hugely popular Gillette Soccer Saturday show, but he also gained many new fans during his recent three year stint as the presenter of Channel 4 quiz show Countdown. Born in Hartlepool in 1955, Jeff had a burning ambition to become a journalist and joined the Hartlepool Mail as a trainee in 1973. He later branched out into radio, working for the BBC in London and subsequently joining Sky TV in 1994. He has been named Sports Broadcaster of the Year for five successive years by the Sports Journalists’ Association of Great Britain. Although he moved away from Hartlepool many years ago, there is no doubt that the town is still “home” and he never tires of singing its praises and talking up the fortunes of his beloved ‘Pools. This dedication to his home town was recognised in 2010 when Jeff was made a Freeman of the Borough.

Romeo & Juliet “Violent delights have violent ends...” In defiance of their families and in secrecy from their closest friends, hopeful young lives burn amidst a celestial and cataclysmic backdrop. Sun and moon shine down on star-crossed lovers as they hide their passion and sexuality from their warring families and their closest friends. Misadventure, family pride, and ancient quarrels abort and bury the most joyous of beginnings, the most hopeful of love stories as Romeo and Juliet, driven apart, find their world becoming a constricting, single mausoleum of fate and death.

peter crawford supported by irene wilson People are being invited to reach over to the spirit world at an evening of clairvoyance in Hartlepool to raise money for local good causes. “We try to give proof of life after death and we try to make contact with the audience’s loved ones on the other side,” says 41-year-old Sydney-born Peter who now lives in Hartlepool and has been a full-time psychic medium for 18 years. “It’s a very life enhancing experience, with a mixture of poignancy, humour and laughter.” Even as a child Peter felt he had a special gift but this really took shape when he visited a spiritualist church as an 18-year-old following the death of his mother Sylvia and discovered that he was naturally clairvoyant. His skills are much in demand and he was recently called in by the production team of TV hit Geordie Shore to make contact with a spirit which was causing problems at the Newcastle studios where some of the show is filmed. Together with Irene Wilson, who comes from Horden, Peter has taken part in scores of charity events, raising over £50,000 for good causes. Looking ahead to the Hartlepool evening he says: “I would invite people to come along with an open mind and give it a try – I’m sure we will surprise them.”
