Welcome to the all new edition of What’s Happening Hartlepool Guide 2013! Take time to read this great resource that acts as a pocket guide to our great town, with details of things to do, places to stay and an exciting calendar of events. Hopefully you will find the guide easy to use. We have colour-coded the main sections and have included a referenced, fold-out map at the back for you to aid your navigation. Places are referenced throughout the guide with either the letters TC followed by a number which means it is in the Town Centre map. Areas on the Main Map are referenced with an M followed by a letter and a number to indicate which box within the grid you will find them. For instance Throston Golf Club is found at M-A3. And if that wasn’t enough, look out for the all-new Hartlepool Town Hall Theatre & Cinema Guide’ – as well as the popular ‘EAT – A Taste of Hartlepool’ – both guides have been created to help you make the most of your time in Hartlepool. Coastal Cousins
The centre of Hartlepool is sandwiched between two contrasting coastal treasures. To the north is the historic Headland, a proud community, home to the oldest architecture in Hartlepool. The area is home to some great attractions such as the Story Trail, St Hilda’s Church (ref M-G4 14 ) and The Heugh Gun Battery Museum (ref M-H4 13 ). A walk around the Headland is a real tonic any day of the year, as the North Sea rolls relentlessly into the promenade walls and the several piers.
To the south of the town centre, Seaton Carew is a busy little seaside resort. The architecture is primarily Victorian and there is a long and easy to access promenade. Beyond this you will find over two miles of golden sands stretching to the Marina to the north and all the way to the mouth of the River Tees to the south. whatshappeninghartlepool.com
Fish and chips are never better than by the seaside. The Headland and Seaton Carew have a range of places to choose from to enjoy inside or outside Tel: 01429 869 706
