Wiiam Bradford Huie Library of Hartsee

TThe William Bradford Huie Library of Hartselle, located at 152 Sparkman St. NW has a collection of approximately 33,000 books, audiobooks and DVDs available for checkout to library card holders. Library cards are free to any Morgan County resident with proof of residency, such as a driver’s license, utility bill or rental agreement. There is a small onetime fee of $10 to non-residents to receive a library card. Cards are required to check-out books, audiobooks and DVDs. Cards are also required to access the library’s free digital collections through Libby and Hoopla.

In addition to being a lending library, the William Bradford Huie Library of Hartselle also provides many services and programs to the community that do not require a library card. Programming includes a weekly pre-k children’s storytime, a weekly children’s book club, a monthly adult book club, monthly painting classes for children and adults, holiday programming throughout the year and a summer reading program for all ages.

There are five computers available for patron use and all are able to access the internet and print. In addition, the library has free wi-fi available both inside and in the parking lot. The library works with Alabama Public Library Service to provide additional free educational resources including ACT test preparation, homework help and career improvement. Prints and photocopies costs 15 cents per page. The library offers scanning services to an email address at no cost. The William Bradford Huie library staff includes library manager Michelle Blaylock and three library assistants, Alex VanKoughnett, Sarah Laughmiller and Chrissy Tucker. The staff strives to create a welcoming atmosphere and creative programing that meets the needs of the community.
