American Midnight: Democracy's Forgotten Crisis, 1917-1921
FEBRUARY 13TH | 7:00PM – 8:00PM | VIRTUAL EVENT
Spend an evening conversing one of the most groundbreaking works of narrative history with fellow HCB members. Our February Book Club selection features Adam Hochschild’s book American Midnight which was named “a best book of the year” by the New York Times, Washington Post, New Yorker, Chicago Tribune, New York Post and Fast Company
Hochschild delivers a masterly reassessment of the overlooked but startlingly resonant period between World War I and the Roaring Twenties, when the foundations of American democracy were threatened by war, pandemic, and violence fueled by battles over race, immigration, and the rights of labor.
This virtual event is offered at no charge as a benefit of your membership. Registration is required.
