A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
To all our CITY Families, As we enter our anniversary year we are even more excited to have you on board and part of our organization. There have been many new initiatives within the last 6 months as we continue to evolve and provide more opportunities for players and coaches. We are excited for what is to come in 2023 and we hope you and your family will continue to support our team on and off the field. Each month we will share moments from the last 10 years to show how far our organization has come in such a short period of time. I believe it is key for existing, new, and future members and coaches to understand the journey taken to help support us onour next chapter together.
“YOU CAN’T REALLY KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING, UNTIL YOU KNOW WHERE YOU HAVE BEEN”. (M. ANGELOU)
Every day at Chicago City Soccer Club our team is working hard on and off the field to evolve our organization to ensure our membership experience goes from strength to strength each year. We are very grateful for the feedback throughout the year from our members and through our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) we will continue to work together to make this club, the club for the people.
I would like to thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we navigate through a new winter structure this year. Thank you for the great feedback thus far, as we are already looking to elevate everything for next year.
Winter training is traditionally, and successfully a time to refine players’ technical deficiencies at Chicago City Soccer Club. Our training model is set up to utilize small areas efficiently to develop players’ speed of play, physically and mentally. Working in smaller, tighter spaces, forces players to make more mistakes, which means more learning moments. Through the development of speed of play, players’ physical and mental abilities increase, enhancing the speed of their footwork as well as their speed of thought, making decisions efficiently under pressure. Our staff continue to collaborate on our training model every day and so if you want to understand our methods and philosophies, please connect with your coach or our leadership team as we believe it is key that you understand how we successfully develop players every year. Trust the process, and enjoy the journey.
Once again, thank you for your continued support and we look forward to another successful year in 2023 on and off the field.
Nick Mulvaney CEO Chicago City Soccer Club¡FELIZ AÑO NUEVO!

BEHIND THE BADGE
As with most other insignia for organizations, every element of Chicago City SC’s crest is a result of a deliberate choice with great significance behind it. For Chicago City SC’s badge, the story begins over a decade ago when Club founder Nick Mulvaney was appointed
SKYLINE
As far as the elements of the crest go, the Chicago skyline is not only one of the most iconic and recognizable but also extremely dynamic. The skyline view changes based on where people are in the city, and so Chicago City can be a point of unification for all 77 neighborhoods.
CHICAGO FLAG
Another iconic and recognizable element to the crest is the Chicago flag. Chicago City’s goal is to celebrate all the different components of the city that make it uniquely Chicago.
As the goal for the organization was to become the club for the city it was key to ensure it represented the whole city which the white bars do along with the two blue bars that represent the two prominent bodies of water.
The red stars within the flag on the crest commemorate four of the greatest events in the city’s history and Chicago City SC wants to build on the work of those who have come before them.
Director of Coaching of Chicago Lakefront Attack Soccer Club. New to the City of Chicago, Nick quickly immersed himself into the culture, and tells the story of knocking on many unanswered doors throughout the City while trying to understand the youth soccer landscape and build relationships to help elevate the club.
CHICAGO CITY
Chicago City SC was important to the branding of the club as many youth clubs throughout the Chicagoland area had the name Chicago in front of their name but operated in the suburbs. Chicago City would not only become a club in the city but for the city. It was also a tough decision between Soccer Club and Football Club but because soccer was the American term used, SC was added.
The intentionality and purposefulness of the Chicago City SC crest translate into every project that the club takes on. The badge itself serves as a reminder of the importance of that value.
THE LION AND LIONNESS
These are a nod to the famous lion sculptures on Michigan Avenue that act as guardians of the city. Mulvaney saw that as a perfect allegory of his desire to have Chicago City SC continue to push the boundaries within the soccer industry by representing Chicago in a positive manner.
WE STAND IN SOLIDARITY & SUPPORT.
Chicago City is both saddened and outraged by the tragic events and countless inequalities experienced across our communities. Inclusion and diversity are at the epicenter of everything we stand for at Chicago City and now more than even, we are committed to bringing our communities together through sport to be the healing and permanent change needed.
It is our duty to protect the communities in which we play, and we hope that as a Chicago City Family, we can stand together stronger than ever and be the change that we want to see. Our thoughts and prayers are with the many individuals, communities and families that have suffered during this time. We can, and all must, do better.
WE ARE HERE TO LISTEN
We understand the importance of Mental Health and incorporate strategies into our training to ensure and promote discussion. If you are struggling and need someone to talk to, we are here and we will listen!
It is OK, to NOT be OK!
LGTBQ SAFEZONE
Members of our staff have undergone training to ensure that we are an LGBTQIA+ Safe Zone. If anyone needs help, advice or someone to talk to, please contact us.
A RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT THE CHILDREN AROUND US
Our coaches undergo annual mandated reporter training to ensure that we prevent, recognize, respond to and report child sexual abuse. In collaboration with the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center - our coaches continue to ensure that we are protecting our members and understanding our roles within the community.
CHICAGO LAKEFRONT SOCCER CLUB
Chicago Lakefront Attack Soccer Club was founded by Marie Zenere in 1997 who brought Nick Mulvaney in as the Director of Coaching in the summer of 2011. Nick had officially hung up his boots playing in London, England where he was also coaching and running programs in the build up to the 2012 Olympics.
Marie had created a true community club in the City of Chicago which was developed for her daughter and her friends in the area. The club had many successful stories under Marie’s leadership and after her daughter moved on to college, Marie was looking for someone to take the reins. After previous Director’s came and left, Marie was thinking about letting the club go, and she joked “I couldn’t give the club away”. Nick interviewed in the summer of 2011 and Marie quickly took him under her wing, and after the 2011-12 season, in the last board meeting before the summer break, Marie mentioned to Nick, as she left the small office on elston and clybourn, “think about a rebrand over the summer”, and left. Little did Marie know that Nick had already been planning a rebrandfind out in next months issue.

THANK YOU TO OUR AMAZING FAMILIES
Been around most of the clubs in the past 10 years. Coach Omer at the CCSC is absolutely outstanding. He carry himself as a true professional ( education on/ off the field with payers of all ages). If your child happens to end up under his coaching there is nothing to worry about but seat on the sideline and let him do the miracle. - MC
CITY FAMILY
My kids play multiple sports and have been part of many clubs and Chicago City just does it right. They promote an atmosphere where children of any skill can develop at their own pace and love the game. All of the coaches are hard working, caring, and make the game super fun. I’ve recommended City to my friends and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for not only a soccer team but a soccer family and amazing community. My child’s love for soccer has grown exponentially and it’s a true testament when he says that Chicago City is the best in the whole entire world! - Kim
TCITY CARES
The coaches really care about the kids development. No screaming, yelling or embarrassing the kids when something goes wrong. We’ve been with Soccer City for about a year now and my child still loves it! He is definitely improving mentally and technically and does not feel like he is restricted to only play one position. Thanks a Soccer City!! - Jose, Htechnically and does not feel like he is restricted to only play one position. Thanks a Soccer City!! - Jose, HZ. Razo
