MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER

It has been a hectic start to the new year with so much going on around the club. February was filled with activity as we kicked it off with a really great conversation with Coach Omer & Coach Craig where parents, players, and coaches had some really great questions for our panelists. We look forward to March 24 to have Coach Ryan and Coach Pedja under the spotlight. We held our first Individual College Showcase which was a massive success as we filled up on player registration. We had up to 20 college coaches from all levels, D1, D2, D3, NAIA, Junior College as well as our MLS friends at the Chicago Fire. We had Eddie Rock (Snr VP Football Operations) who works with all levels of the football club from First Team, MLS Next Pro team, Academy, and Youth Club. Newly assigned Academy Director, Gary Lewis who has worked at Premier League clubs Liverpool and Everton in England also was able to join as they observed players and conversed with CITY staff. Gary will be leading a Coach Development workshop this month with the CITY staff as we build a stronger relationship with our friendly rivals. We look forward to building on the success of the Showcase by adding more events throughout the year and adding a girls showcase.

February also brought the announcement of our partnership with i9 Sports as our feeder system for young aspiring athletes. Through their holistic approach to player development in which multi-sports is used to enhance players’ athletic ability. We are excited for our collaboration as we prepare young aspiring athletes for competitive sport on and off the field. Programming will begin in April on Saturdays at Fleet fields led by CITY staff who will also have the opportunity to evaluate players across all programs under i9 throughout Chicago. March will bring another pivotal milestone as we launch the first ever Girls Academy in the City of Chicago. It is such an exciting time for Women’s soccer in the US, but also in our region as CITY rolls out the first USL Academy in the State of Illinois. As USL delivers on their promise to elevate the game, they will launch the USL Super League in 2024 which will provide more opportunities for female soccer players to fulfill their dreams in playing professionally and potentially representing their country on the USWNT. “IT IS SUCH AN EXCITING TIME FOR WOMEN’S SOCCER IN THE US”

Ha sido un comienzo de año muy intenso con muchas cosas sucediendo alrededor del club. Febrero estuvo lleno de actividad, ya que lo iniciamos con un conversatorio con nuestros entrenadores Omer y Craig, en el cual, padres, jugadores y entrenadores hicieron preguntas realmente interesantes a nuestros panelistas. Continuaremos los conversatorios el próximo 24 de marzo con nuestros entrenadores Ryan y Pedja como panelistas. Así también celebramos nuestro primer torneo vitrina masculino para Colleges y Universidades que fue un éxito masivo al registrar un lleno completo de inscritos. Tuvimos alrededor de 20 entrenadores universitarios de todos los niveles, D1, D2, D3, NAIA, Junior College, así como nuestros amigos de la MLS de Chicago Fire, Eddie Rock, VP Senior de Operaciones de Fútbol, que trabaja con todos los niveles del club de fútbol de primer equipo, MLS Next Pro, Academia y el club Juvenil así como al recién asignado Director de la Academia, Gary Lewis, que ha trabajado en los clubes de la Premier League Liverpool y Everton en Inglaterra que también observo a los jugadores y converso

Durante febrero también anunciamos nuestra asociación con i9 Sports como nuestro sistema de alimentación de jóvenes aspirantes a atletas. A través de su enfoque holístico para el desarrollo de los jugadores en el que se utilizan múltiples deportes para mejorar la capacidad atlética de los mismos. Estamos entusiasmados con nuestra colaboración, ya que preparamos a los jóvenes aspirantes a atletas para el deporte de competición dentro y fuera del campo. Nuestra colaboración comenzará los sábados de abril en la cancha Fleet y será dirigida por personal de CITY que también tendrá la oportunidad de evaluar a jugadores de todos los programas de i9 en todo Chicago. El mes de marzo marcará otro hito fundamental para el club con el lanzamiento de la primera Academia Femenina de Futbol en la ciudad de Chicago. Es un momento muy emocionante para el fútbol femenino en Estados Unidos y en particular en nuestra región, ya que CITY pone en marcha la primera academia de la USL en el estado de Illinois. A medida que la USL cumple su promesa de mejorar y elevar el nivel de competición, lanzará la USL Super League en 2024, que ofrecerá más oportunidades a las jugadoras de fútbol para cumplir sus sueños de jugar profesionalmente y, potencialmente, representar a su país en la USWNT. “ES UN MOMENTO MUY EMOCIONANTE PARA EL FÚTBOL FEMENINO EN ESTADOS UNIDOS”

2013 CITY IS BORN

As Nick took the reigns of CLASC and began to observe the clubs structure both on and off the field, he felt he wanted to create a club for the whole city. Through his experience in London through the build up for the 2012 Olympics Nick had been involved in many different initiatives, with many different sports that provided him with a different insight to sport and how it positively impacted lives. Through working with youth and adult with disabilities, teenage mentorship programs, schools, parks, while also working with professional and semi professional club academies, Nick realized a youth soccer club in Chicago could do the same, and have a larger social impact within communities, and so Chicago City Soccer Club was born.

CITY would begin with a rebuild of the foundational phase for the younger levels, getting youth involved in the game for fun to build a love soccer while also developing a strong high school program where players looking to excel within the sport could achieve success in their high schools and potentially go on to play in college. Phase 1 of this initiative was to bring in higher level coaches who would be invested in the long term vision of the club.

USLA Team will travel to Tampa, FL for the annual USLA Cup in March. This is the USL event of the year for the nations academies which is heavily attended by college coaches, USL and MLS Pro Scout, as well as US National Team scouts.

At Chicago City Soccer Club, our mission is to inspire through sport. We understand there are many different levels of interest and commitment throughout our organization and so we are very proud that we can now offer a complete player pathway for all players. We have always operated under a long term development model where we value the growth of our youth on and off the field. With Tryout season quickly approaching we want our members to understand that

we want all our existing players to be at CITY to continue their development under our professional guidance. If you have any questions or concerns we ask that you set up a meeting with our leadership as we are always willing to work with you to provide the best possible experience at our club.

CITY players have been evaluated throughout the year and we will not be holding the traditional tryouts this year in the CITY but in CITY West, South, and North we will hold tryouts. Throughout the CITY we will hold

Player Assessments for NEW players only throughout the Spring season. We will be looking for existing members to commit to the club with a $75 membership fee by April 1st and to fully commit by May 19th so we can begin forming teams.

It is crucial that our members commit fully for the upcoming year before we can confirm all rosters, assign coaches, league placement, practice schedules, and locations. The plan is to release new programming details April 1st for members to register. If you have any questions or concerns about next year please plan to meet with your coach, our Director of Soccer, or myself to ensure you feel 100% comfortable resigning for next year. The one thing we have always guaranteed as an organization is that we will continue to improve each year. We ask for our families to trust and support the long term vision of the club as we have a proven track record for success with players both on and off the field. We do understand we cannot get it right 100% of the time with every player, team, and coach, but we are here to listen to our members for feedback to make ourselves better every day.
