On Sunday 25 November 2018, Stevenage Against Domestic Abuse (SADA) joined many organisations in the 16 Days of Action Against Domestic Violence global campaign. 16 Days of Action Against Domestic Violence takes place from the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (also known as White Ribbon Day) on 25 November, to Human Rights Day on 10 December. The team have many things planned throughout the 16 day campaign to help raise awareness of the initiative including messages on buses traveling between Stevenage and North Herts, a stall in Stevenage Town Centre Market on 6 December and much more.

Leader of Stevenage Borough Council and Chair of SADA, Cllr Sharon Taylor said: ?We are pleased to be supporting this innovative programme to raise awareness of domestic abuse and in doing so, encourage both men and women who have suffered abuse to come out and seek help and advice. "SADA has been doing a great job in providing vital services to individuals at risk. The service was lucky enough to be national winners in the summer and have been awarded funding to extend the service provided beyond 2019 from the Department for Communities and Local Government. Dance delight for hospice Spirella Ballroom in Letchworth opened its doors to hundreds of people for Garden House Hospice Care?s first ever dancing event, Strictly Come Jive & Swing. Over the last 2 months, 5 couples and 2 individuals have been busy in the ballroom, learning how to Lindy-hop, Jive and Charleston with lessons from World Record holders JiveSwing.Com. Dancers took to the floor performing showstopping routines and the dancers were rated on technique, style, musicality and entertainment. Event Organiser, Jake Amos commented: ?Huge thanks to all of our dancers for working so hard and pushing themselves out of their comfort zones all in aid of Hospice care. Bar and Beyond- the best #Stevenage party night Text

Bar & Beyond has been a staple of the Stevenage night out since opening over 2 years ago after the refurbishment of Chicago?s Rock CafĂŠ. Over the last month or so there has been a number of changes from management, revamping the team to small changes such as a DJ booth upgrade and the introduction of some massive acts from all over the UK. The acts so far have been great both for the venue and the hundreds of customers out to meet them. We started things off with Kiss FM?s Rickie & Melvin, TOWIE'S Pete Wicks, Love Island?s Chris Hughes & Sam Bird. All the acts put on a great performance and met many happy customers but, we aren?t done yet. Waiting in the wings we have,Majestic, Marvin Humes, the amazing Danny T (If you haven?t already, please listen to his Lion King remix) and to finish off a great year at BABs our NYE act is Chris Stark from Radio 1. Looking ahead we are excited for a full festive period in our venue, we are going to be playing host to many a company Christmas party, listen to many an awful cracker joke and spread some festive cheer amongst the customers. Bar & Beyond is the perfect spot for an office Christmas party with on-site kitchen, unique dĂŠcor and an extensive Christmas menu offering both Vegan & Gluten Free options. So, if you are still on the lookout let us know. New Years Eve is always a big deal when it comes to clubs but with the addition of our act Chris Stark it is set to be even bigger when the clock strikes 12 and we head in to

Want to reuse school uniform? It's in the bag A uniform scheme which is the perfect fit for those who find new school clothes too expensive has been set up by a group of mums. Nicola Fulton along with her sister, Sarah Bainbridge and sister in law Charlotte Parry have decided to set up a pop up uniform shop.

are getting rid of, anything from shoes, ties, P.E. kit, coats, blazers, trousers, shirts, etc, from pre-school, primary, to secondary schools. We can either arrange to collect or let you know where to drop off. We ask that you put a label on any donations stating which school it is from and please bear with us when returning

The idea came about last summer when Nicola called Herts County Council asking if there was a uniform drop off point she could use for families in need, she was told no there wasn't so this is an idea that has been brewing since then. Nicola said: "We have been in touch with Stevenage schools and asked them to donate their lost property to us and Marriotts School have kindly donated a hall for us to use. Every few months we will have a date set and will be asking schools to ?invite?their families that they know would benefit from this scheme. Those families can then attend our uniform shop to pick what they need for their relevant school, without the worry of cost. That is the basic idea behind all of this. "What we would like is to donate any school uniform you

messages." They also need coat hangers, plastic storage boxes and clothes rails if anyone has any laying about. The first date for the pop up uniform shop is Monday 21st January 5pm till 8pm at Marriotts school. It is by invite only and schools will be writing to their families on low income or pupil premium so that they can benefit from this. They will receive a flyer that they have to bring as proof of invite. Commenting on the scheme Nicola said: "Donations at the moment are being made to our

home addresses, for myself and my sister, Sarah. We are collecting lost property donations from schools in Stevenage. We have had such a massive response to this , it has been amazing!!" In the future they will be looking for sponsorship from local companies, so that they can provide each school with uniform donation banks so that the general public can put unwanted uniform straight into them and it can collected on a monthly basis. If you want to get in contact you can message the Facebook page. They have an automated message that goes back to them with details. They work full time and were finding it difficult to keep up with the demand for replies so the automated message was the best way. They are taking everything from all types of uniform, ties, blazers, jumpers, bags, shoes, coats P.E. kit etc to GCSE revision books. https://www.facebook.com/ Pop-up-uniform-shop1085787468261217/

We have to be kind and compassionate to help those living on the edge Stevenage has a problem with homelessness - and if the public don't help then government won't intervene - that?s the view of People for People founder Kenny Arnold. And he admits that while there may be some people out there who are ?scamming?the public by pretending to be destitute, for most on the street it is a very last resort to be living

outside. ?What we see in the town is that it is incredibly complex. Some people may try to fix it in their own cosy way. They may feel great to give ÂŁ20 which will alleviate a problem for a night but it doesn?t do anything in the long term. We know there are one or two scammers out there, but we have to stay pure to what we do to help those that really need it.

Read, en joy an d sh ar e

"There has been a 169% rise in UK in homelessness in the last year and these people need help.? Kenny points to the fact that there are many people who don?t want to go to The Haven hostel, some making the choice in the past to rough a night in the open even though it is snowing outside. ?It can often be to do with

Text addiction, mental health and not just work ethic. Sometimes people just have have no love and care from family close they also don?t want to mix with some people who may be using drugs etc so they make a choice. Each person has to be judged individually. Indeed if you do go and buy a sandwich for someone but you get conned then what?s the worst that has happened?? The owner of Kenny Arnold hairdresser?s in High Street, Kenny decided to found the group after blaming a failure from politicians to act on key issues which have led to poverty. ?I?ve never seen anything like it in this country - it has been coming and it is a consequence of government policy,?said Kenny. ?If you collapse social care and don?t build enough houses and the NHS is undermined and wages don?t grow then it is inevitable. We have a compassionless state at the moment - 400 people died on the streets last year - it?s Victorian. And the fact that we have food banks is also insane.? People for People was formed after the May 2015 election and now the group are called into action on a weekly basis to provide support to those in need. The group is well placed to deal

Text with any issues which present themselves and Kenny believes his role in the High Street helps to get to the heart of what is happening saying: ?Being a hairdresser is a strange job as you have an ear to ground and you hear directly what is going on and speak to members of the public all day. Even the salon is a symbol of the community and at the heart of it. We get people who come in who are in dire straights. I feel that our job is just to be kind and be compassionate.? Kenny points to a person who was given a tent after coming into the salon because they were homeless, only to come back two days later to tell him that it was taken away from them by the police.

taken part. " Collections stop on November 30 but you can still supply food the the Food Shed after that date and suggested items include: Tinned foods (potatoes, tomatoes, beans, soup), Packet goods (pasta, noodles, stuffing), Toiletries (deodorant, soap, unwanted gift sets), Toys and Books (New), Treats (selections boxes, sweets, biscuits) . These can be delivered to The Food Shed or a food bank.

Christmas market now open

?She didn?t ask for the tent,? said Kenny. ?She literally popped into the salon and someone dropped one in and got her a coat and a blanket because she was in need.? This year People for People are once again running the ever popular Reverse Advent. It is the third year of doing it and as Kenny says it will make a difference: ?All the food goes to the Food Shed and we really blew them away last year. We have got schools involved teaching kids all about what Christmas should be about. Football clubs, riding schools, banks, brownies - everyone has

Middle Row - the gem in the heart of #Stevenage

Text

?MIDDLE ROW?A little gem of a street in Stevenage Old Town. Dating back to 1281, Stevenage Old town, once a medieval market settlement was granted a Royal Charter by King Edward 1, to hold a weekly market and an annual fair. Today it is a thriving, busy High Street with great shops, bars and restaurants. Set back from it, is? Middle Row?a pedestrianised area with A Grade ll listed buildings; offering wonderful shops and eateries which I recently discovered. ?Middle Row originates from what were originally the stalls of market traders. until the beginning of the 20th century writes Peter Bentley. One of the shops in middle row is Revolution Records that stock new and re-issued vinyl as well as a massive range of original vinyl. Within the shop is a coffee lounge where you can relax, enjoy a coffee and listen to some new sounds. For those looking for a bit of

pampering, there are several beauty shops to visit where you can have your eye brows done, your hair, beauty and nails. Middle Row is the perfect pamper spot in Stevenage, all your beauty requirements in one row. The Cutters Barbers has been there for 35 years but the building dates back to 1200, with walls that are wattle and daub and beamed ceilings with great features and fantastic fire places. If your ever in town just pop in, take a look and meet the guys "El bar de tapas" Spanish kitchen & bar serving is Stevenage's first authentic tapas bar, serving freshly prepared tapas, wine and specialist sangria, using seasonal produce that is sustainably sourced. Business is right to want to re-engage with local charity groups Text

M y #Her t s by Dar r en Ist ed I attended an excellent lunch as a guest of the Herts Chamber recently. It was held at the Holiday Inn, Stevenage and the main purpose was a discussion about the regeneration of Stevenage by the borough council's chief executive Scott Crudgington. Good luck to Scott on that front, it is a plan which has been long overdue but is of course fraught with difficulties and will take a lot of hard work to deliver - finding a Brexit solution may be easier! Scott though is someone who has been in the town for many years now - he knows the challenges faced and as a non-political participant I can't think of many people better placed. But when I left it wasn't the future of the first new town that really struck me. As you would expect from a room sourced by the Chamber there were some big hitters there from major businesses in the county. While the daily fight to excel at whatever industry we find ourselves in is uppermost in the minds of all, many are also now more and more aware of the community in which they operate. As a trustee for Stevenage Community Trust it is always heart-warming to see just how hard business people work to make a difference to those in their area. A case in point is Claire Austin, present at the Holiday inn of course, a consummate networker who has just delivered a remarkable cheque to the Trust following the

most high profile headshave ever. Claire of course is fully aware of the benefits of keeping her ear to the ground with local groups and after the meeting it became clear that others are warming to the same too. No less than three major businesses in #Herts spoke to me about re-engaging more with local charities and organisations. I was of course happy to steer them in the right direction. It isn't just about corporate social responsibility now and a warm feeling - opening channels with those in your community is a must for business and for 2019 it has to be high up on the agenda.

PAUL FRY on # St evenage

Robbo- leader on the pitch and now a leader in the world of business He captained Stevenage in their first game in the Football League and again in their first match in League One after being promoted.

tried to buy then-Premier League and FA Cup winners Portsmouth in 2009.

But Mark Roberts' journey after his career in football, which included 169 games and 18 goals for Boro, has him bidding to be a captain of industry.

Mark told me: I read about his journey as part of my own research because the business route for explayers is a path that is one that is not so well trodden. But it is one I want to follow"

Mark, now 35, left the club in 2013 after four of the most glorious years in the club's history. He is still turning out for Warrington Town in the Northern Premier League, but describes himself as "an MBA student and future business leader".

"Transition is tough whoever you are and, however well you prepare. Yes some days are obviously more frustrating than others but then I remind myself that I have unique set of transferable skills and the attributes that will see me succeed."

He recently posted an article on the social media site LinkedIN which described his struggles to make a career in football after being rejected by Manchester United as a 10-year-old - and how that drove him on to build a future in the game.

Leadership, of course is just one. Boro fans will recall how Mark's partnership with Jon Ashton was the bedrock of the club's success, with back-to-back promotions and a second FA Trophy final win, in 2009, the year he joined the club from Northwich Victoria, initially on loan.

It was shared and brilliantly received. Mark said: "I?m so passionate of fulfilling my potential and helping others to realise theirs. I lived one dream and now it?s time to create another!" Moving on after a successful career in any sport can be a huge problem, particularly those who miss the adulation and buzz of the crowd, the camaraderie of the dressing room. Many have fallen by the wayside, into drink, drugs, gambling, divorce and even destitution. There are salutory lessons in most

In his LinkedIN article, Mark wrote: sports - even the world's best-paid sportsman, Tiger Woods, lost his way, with divorce, prescription drugs, much-publicised sexual encounters and physical fitness issues, notable with his knees and back, which he now seems to have finally overcome. I told Mark that I recalled Ramon Vega, the former Swiss defender who played for Spurs. Vega went on to the world of business, setting up a real estate firm focusing on developing luxury hotels. He even unsuccessfully

"A young boy sits in the office at Manchester United?s training ground waiting for the news he?s been dreading. It?s judgment day. His coach, Paul McGuinness, leans forwards and begins to let him down gently. "The young boy is told how the standard is incredibly high, the size of the group needs to be reduced dramatically but not to give up because he was desperately close to making the cut. It?s scant consolation. He doesn?t know what to do.

Text The boy tries to keep it together even when his bottom lip begins to tremble and his legs have turned to jelly. He was prepared for the news but not for this surge of desperation that now threatens to overwhelm him. "He knows the coach is still talking but the words are empty and meaningless in this moment in time. "He?s desperate to get out of the door before the walls close in and his whole world comes crashing down around him. "He makes sure he takes a deep breath before he even attempts to take to his feet, mumbles a gracious farewell whilst he shakes hands and heads for the car and the safety of his father. He can?t help feeling like he?s let everyone down so for the entire journey he sits there in silence wishing he could articulate what it is that?s he?s going through. "He would dearly love to respond to the man who he knows will be hurting just as much as him. But he can?t. There?s something that?s stopping him and it takes the remainder of his strength to keep it all together until home is in sight and they pull into the driveway. "He?s through the front door before his mother and sister have the chance to comfort him and he slams his bedroom door shut because he wants to be alone. "He buries his head in his pillow and the floodgates duly open. He?d made mistakes in matches before and tasted the bitterness of defeat but rejection was an entirely new concept for him to come to terms with. That young boy was 10 years old when he suffered that setback. That young boy was me." Mark was the star of his all-conquering local and school teams. When World Cup winner Nobby Stiles scouted him for Manchester United - the club he supported - a childhood fantasy seemed like a realistic possibility. But, he recalls: "Giving up seemed a genuine probability. I was confused. I was crushed. Why had this happened and how would I ever get over this devastating blow? "When the tears finally subsided and I wiped the heartbreak

Text away, something very strange began to happen from deep within. A flickering flame of feeling that quickly became a burning fire of desire. "I couldn?t and wouldn?t give up on the game that I loved and the dream that I had. "Instead I would use every ounce of hurt and disappointment to work even harder than before. This wasn?t about me proving people wrong. This was about me making the decision to prove myself right." Mark went on: "Through a combination of sheer determination and the unconditional support of my family I did indeed defeat the odds and realise my ambition of becoming a professional footballer - but I look back on that defining experience as one of the fundamental reasons why I?ve been able to condition myself to cope with the trials and tribulations of this unforgiving industry. "There have been incredible highs on my journey but believe me when I tell you that these have been far outweighed by the number of lows.

Text expect it. Stevenage's 2011 League Two Play-Off Final was switched to Old Trafford because the Champions League Final was at Wembley on the same day. It presented me with a golden opportunity - and one that I?d patiently waited my whole life for. Captaining my Stevenage side to victory over Torquay United in front of my nearest and dearest was an unforgettable memory that I will treasure forever. "When the final whistle blew I broke down on the pitch and buried my head in my manager?s embrace but this time it was tears of joy that I shed. This moment had been nearly 20 years in the making. "A moment that would not have been possible if I?d given up when all seemed lost or thrown in the towel when somebody?s opinion of me did not align with my personal goals. "The body of a sportsman in his prime lifted that trophy proudly in the sky but it was the undeniable spirit of a 10 year boy that made my dream come true.

"Despite my tender age, the exposure to that devastating sequence of events has proved pivotal in developing my tolerance to adversity, my strength of resilience - and the importance of owning my identity outside of the sport I play.

"That was when my road to resilience all began."

"Football has a funny way of rewarding your efforts when you least

That?s the concept of Death Cafes, which allow people to meet up in a relaxed setting to talk about what?s often viewed as a taboo subject. Over tea and cake, it?s an opportunity to share your thoughts, learn about other people?s experiences and to talk about your own. The first Death Cafe was opened in London in 2011 by Jon Underwood, who got the idea after reading about ?CafĂŠ Mortal?events in Switzerland where people gathered in public to talk about death. Since then, 5,000 Death Cafes have been held in over 50 countries. It?s not just cafes where people can meet up ? Death Cafes are held in restaurants, tents, parks, community spaces and people?s homes. They?re usually small gatherings of around six to twelve people and last for one or two hours. At some cafes, groups meet up each month, while others may run several sessions then take a break or get together a few times a year.

The most important thing about the cafes is that they are welcoming and informal. Everyone gets the chance to introduce themselves and explain what?s brought them there ? though if you feel more comfortable not talking, particularly if it?s your first time, that?s perfectly fine. There are no set questions or topics, so each group can discuss whatever comes up as they get to know each other. A discussion might be about end-of-life care, how to talk to someone who?s been bereaved or perhaps a more philosophical theme. Death Cafes aren?t

designed for grief support or counselling sessions but exist to bring people together who want to discuss death and dying without being viewed as morbid. For those who go to a Death Cafe, it?s a way of coming to terms with the inevitable, understanding and preparing for it ? and embracing their life and being inspired to live it fully. You can find out more about Death Cafes at https://deathcafe.com/ * Austin?s are here to help you with funeral planning. Please get in touch with us on 01438 815555.

Stevenage Parkrun summed up in rhyme! The run report is brought to you in brilliant rhyming style by Esperanza Castro. Stevenage Parkrun 24th November 2018

and laughing,

It's the 128th Stevenage Parkrun Twenty three volunteers arrive in turn,

The start is narrow and close to the lake Maybe someone may get to swim, a little nudge is all it'll take,

The lakes around are bare Will anyone arrive or care? Leaves are peppered on the ground There's barely a sound, Bit by bit near the bandstand People arrive, it's no longer bland, Runners bopping up and down, reds, yellows, blues and greens Setting the 'Stevenage Parkrun Scene' From Aberdeen came Bob Phillips and Bruce Wares Wearing their kilts, provoking some stares, New attendees go for park run briefing Everyone else is warming up, chatting

Run director Ken Counts down from ten,

Kimpton and Veasey hot on the trail With some ghost runners close on their tail, There's huffing, puffing and breathing Some 'taking it in their stride' whilst their singing' Marshalls direct by clapping with a smile Encouraging the crowd to carry on another mile, In all the kerfuffle pushchairs pass On tow with with their passenger lad or lass, Two hundred and thirty seven runners Twenty three newcomers,

Tail walker always kind Never leaving anyone behind, Though no one is ever put to the test Thirty seven awesome Park Runners achieve a personal best, Whether you run, jogged, nearly swam or walked Crossing the line you are now clocked, Timekeepers and scanners are there To ensure the finish is fair, No more commotion Time to go home after the exertion, Parkrun helpers tidy up Off to Costello's for a cup, Tokens sorted and put away in order By Em's and T'otheR, Results processors Ken and Richard Are concentrating hard, So the times won't go out too late All done, that's great! All packed up for now It's time to take a bow!

Join the SportScene team There is a new radio show on the circuit that any sports fan in the area would be mad to miss. SportScene started broadcasting their weekly show earlier in August on SG1 radio, the online radio station broadcasting live from their studio in Stevenage Town Centre. Presented by Steve Watkins, Jay Drackford and Dean Thompson, there is a wealth of local sporting knowledge that has been tapped into, with the trio aiming to showcase any sport local to the area. Steve Watkins said ?It was an idea that was dreamed up by Jay, who quickly shared his thoughts with myself and Dean, and we were hooked. We went to station owner Ray Medwynter and he loved the idea, and two weeks later we were live on air! ?In the first show we were honoured to have former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson as a guest, speaking about his charity, the Welwyn Garden City based

?Willow Foundation?, and his golf tournament recently held at Hanbury Manor. ?The response has been phenomenal in the early days. We have had local clubs represented, with sports including Football, Netball, Running, Iron-Man, Cricket Rugby and Cylcling, and have even included the great work being done with the Aqualina Synchronised Swimming club. ?It has so far been a case of building relationships with the clubs, so that we can follow their fortunes in the future. But we are also keen to get involved ourselves, with Jay already running the local Park Run, and Dean is lined up to have an evening of Synchronised Swimming, which of course will be covered on the show! ?We still need to hear from any new clubs with a story to tell, whether it be news, results, fixtures or events, and we are happy to speak on the phone, get guests into the studio , or simply

read out any news from a club. The aim is to cover ANY local sport, without prejudice or bias. Where at all possible of course!? The show can be contacted at any time via email at sportscene@sg1radio.co.uk, via twitter @sg1sportscene, or on the SG1 Radio Facebook Page. The show is broadcast every Wednesday evening between 9-10pm, and can be accessed at www. sg1radio.co.uk, on mobile phones by downloading the SG1 Radio app, via tune-in radio on a smart device such as sonos or alexa, and is also now being broadcast live with video on Facebook, which has added an extra dimension, and encouraged interaction from the sportspeople of the area. Previous shows can also be played again, with links on Facebook and Twitter. For further details, contact the team at sportscene@sg1radio.co.uk

Tollers solicitors - the experts who can help when property matters Tollers Solicit ors St evenage Assist ing you t o plan for t he fut ure Are you looking to add your new partner or spouse?s name to the deeds for your home? Perhaps your accountant or financial adviser has advised you to share ownership as part of your tax planning? This change in legal ownership is called a ?transfer of equity? and it is usually a relatively straight-forward process. Ownership Percent age You will be asked to decide how you wish to own the property together; for example, whether you want to own it ?equally?or in specific percentage shares, and whether you want to protect one party?s financial contribution. If so, we can ask our Trusts and Estates team to prepare a Deed or ?Declaration of Trust?for you to reflect those intentions. Mort gage If you have a mortgage on the property, you will also need to

get permission from your lender and the new co-owner will need to be approved before they can be added to the mortgage. This may require a new mortgage application and will involve assessing the additional person/people with regards to affordability and credit scoring. The mortgage company may charge you an administration fee and may also require a new valuation to be carried out on the property. Leasehold Propert y

If the property is leasehold, you may need permission from your landlord to add names to the deeds, although this is often a formality. We will also need to serve notice on the Landlord after the transfer, asking them to note the changes on their records, for which they may require payment of a nominal administrative fee. St amp Dut y Stamp Duty may also be payable in certain circumstances, depending on whether money changes hands for the transfer and whether there is an existing mortgage on the property. If you have any queries regarding adding a name to deeds, Talk to Tollers on 01438 901095 and a member of our team will be able to assist you with all your conveyancing needs.

The IT software is excellent at allowing vendors and Landlords 24/7 access to information regarding their property. At the click of a button, vendors can see feedback, current interest from web portals and can track the progress of a sale online. Likewise, Landlords have the option to view property maintenance schedules and access statements. mailt o:st evenage@homesand mort gages.co.uk

Founded by Tony Putterill in 1992, with our first office in Welwyn Garden City, Putterills are now celebrating 26 years of serving the Hertfordshire community. We have grown from our original branch in Welwyn Garden City to having offices in Knebworth, Hitchin, Stevenage Old Town and St Albans, as well as a partner office in London?s Mayfair. Each of our sales offices are overseen by a Director who is actively involved in the day to day running; this helps to ensure that we are providing the highest possible levels of advice and service. All of these offices are prominently located to ensure all properties receive the best possible exposure. In addition to our network of sales offices, we have an award winning Land and New Homes department. Our specialists help landowners maximise the development opportunities for usually previously

used land known as Brownfield, as the country struggles for space for new homes. We have always believed that our task is to provide our clients with the best, up to the minute, expert advice when dealing with what is usually their greatest asset. Our clients have a wide range of emotions and circumstances and we help guide less experienced first time buyers, provide yield information and advice to investment buyers, schooling information to families, hold the hands of those who have not moved for many years and deal sensitively and professionally with those. Over the last few years, we are proud to have won a number of national awards which we believe underline our philosophy of being Trusted Property Experts. 2017 saw Tony Putterill retire and hand the reins of the company over to Mark Shearing. Mark has been in agency in Hertfordshire since 1982

and joined Putterills in 1993. As the company moves into a new era with changing markets, advances in property marketing and the use of technology, our aim is simple - to keep at the absolute forefront of full service Estate Agency and to continue the exceptional levels of service and advice that our clients have been able to rely on over the last 26 years. Our primary purpose has always been to provide an outstanding customer experience and our core values continue to represent this: EXCEPTIONAL ? we are passionate about delivering excellence. RESPECT ? we respect and value those we work with, both our colleagues and our customers. EXPERTISE ? we deliver outstanding skills and knowledge in all we do. TRUST ? we act with honesty and integrity at all times.

Making the Wrights choice

Text

19 M ar k et Place, St even age Tel 01438 312312

Wrights is proud to be an independent estate agency with our own unique values and ethos. We have been in business in Hertfordshire for over 30 years and our experience in helping our customers to buy, sell or rent their properties is second to none. Over the years we have built a professional and enthusiastic team and we now have three branches based in the towns of Hatfield, Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City. Wrights was founded in 1983 by Melvin Wright. Melvin was an experienced estate agent who began his career working for W.H.Lee based in the village of Ware and then moved on to their Stevenage office. As he progressed in his career Melvin was asked if he would open another branch of W.H.Lee in Harlow. Whilst pondering this decision Melvin happened to see that a shop unit in Hatfield was for sale and this made up his mind ? he would start his own estate agency! He picked up the phone to the agent and said he wanted to buy the unit, and so

w w w.w r igh t sof .com

Wrights Estate Agency was born on the 15th August 1983. Due to Melvin and his team?s hard work and determination Wrights Estate Agency really took off in Hatfield. Just 10 years after Wrights first opened its doors in Hatfield Melvin made the decision to open another branch in the lovely town of Welwyn Garden City. And so in 1993 Wrights of Welwyn Garden City was founded. As the Wrights team had such a wealth of knowledge about the Hertfordshire housing market it made sense to open another branch, and because Melvin had previously worked in Stevenage he decided to based his next office in this lively town. Wrights were the first independent estate agents based in the town centre and where we led others followed - it soon became a prime location for a number of estate agencies. Independent agency, independent values When asked just what makes Wrights so successful we tell

people that it is our independent values and experience. We pride ourselves on our professionalism, our knowledge and our honesty. We really care about our customers and put them at the heart of everything we do. Our success is also built on great teamwork and our family values extend to the whole of the Wrights team. We make our offices a welcoming place to work and this is evidenced by the fact that we have team members who have been with us for over 20 years! So now you know our history let us help you plan your future in the property market. Whether you are looking to buy, sell or rent get in touch with any of our three branches and we will be happy to help you. 19 M ar k et Place, St even age Tel 01438 312312 h t t ps:/ / w w w.w r igh t sof .com / br an ch / st even age/
