reetings, and welcome back to the Laithwaite Community Stadium for this afternoon’s matchup between your Cards and our visitors from Bromley. After a couple of FA Cup ties against Hemel Hempstead and a narrow, last-minute defeat to Dagenham on the weekend, we returned to form in the League with a 1-0 victory away at Eastleigh on Tuesday. With several players returning from injuries, we finally have selection problems for manager Darren Sarll to deal with, with a substitutes’ bench loaded with pace and punch. Our visitors are off to a good start this season, sitting in third with their only loss in October away to League leaders Chesterfield. As we know from

the last time they visited for the play-offs in May, it will be a well-contested match, but one the lads will be well up for. Today presents a great opportunity to return to form at home and move up the League table. Your support always lifts our performances, and I think the Woking faithful will be in full-voice today. In case you missed an earlier briefing, Cards supporters are advised of the following:

6

wokingfc.co.uk

Due to the weather forecast, supporters holding tickets on the terraces will be able to migrate to open seats in the Seymours Community Stand. Access to the MKJ Kingfield Road End will be access controlled for blue tickets / blue season ticket cards only to comply with safety restrictions. Please be sure not to occupy any seat labelled “Reserved” for our season ticket holders. Thanks for your continued support. As always, it means the world to our entire Club. Always remember that the complaint (and compliment) line is always open. Just email me at john.katz@wokingfc.co.uk and we can take in your feedback. Or, as the kids say, you can slide into my DMs on Twitter at @jekatz33. Best, John Katz Chief Executive

In Safe HandS As a reminder, it is our goal to ensure that all supporters feel safe and welcome at the Laithwaite Community Stadium. To that end, on 11 December 2021, the Club launched the “In Safe Hands” programme to help our fans report racist, sexist, homophobic, or other abusive language simply and anonymously. If you hear any abusive language, experience it yourself or if you or someone you see feels / looks threatened, you can text the Club anonymously and the message will be monitored by our Safety Officer during the match. Simply text WFC (followed by the nature of your concern and location) to 66777 and we will address your concerns. Example: If you hear racial abuse whilst sitting in the KRE, please send the following text to 66777: “WFC racial abuse centre section of KRE.”

AHeaD OF THE GAME Woking vs. Bromley Vanarama National League 28th October 2023 15:00 Kick-Off Woking will look to right the wrongs of last season's playoff eliminator and make up further ground on the top 7 when they host high flying Bromley at the Laithwaite on Saturday. Following a much needed win over Eastleigh at the Silverlake on Tuesday night, Darren Sarll will be hoping his side can finally end a run of home league games without a win stretching back to late August, with several players available for the first time in a while. Woking will hope that Reece Grego-Cox can recover from the illness that saw him sidelined on Tuesday night to add to a strike force containing a recently returned Rhys Browne, who completed 82 minutes and got the assist for the winner, as well as the likes of Charlie Wakefield and Alfie Pavey, who were both included on the bench. They will be without Jim Kellermann, who is expected to return in time for the trip to Ramsgate, as well as Luke Wilkinson, whilst Ricky Korboa and Manny Oyeleke are expected to return close to the New Year. AROUND THE GROUND Ticket pricing and other details are available here. OPPOSITION WATCH After victory over the Cards in the eliminator led to a devastating 3-2 extra time defeat to Chesterfield in last season's semi final, Bromley saw somewhat of an exodus in the summer, with star defender Kellen Fisher moving to Norwich, whilst

Omar Sowumni and Harry Forster made moves to the EFL with Sutton and Crawley, as well as losing keeper Reice Charles Cook. Andy Woodman has strengthened his Ravens side, however, with Grant Smith from Yeovil becoming number one between the sticks, whilst star signings have included Millwall loan defender Chin Okoli, right back Josh Passley from Havant & Waterlooville and midfielder Lewis Leigh on loan from Preston. Top scorer, unsurprisingly, is serial National League goal scorer Michael Cheek, who has seven goals so far this season, whilst Bromley have shared 27 goals between 11 players so far this season. After a last minute Corey Whitely winner saw Dorking defeated at Hayes Lane, Woodman's side are now third in the league, with nine wins, five draws and three defeats thus far this season. A shaky start to the season saw Bromley winless in their first five, but they've lost just once in twelve games since, an away defeat to top of the table Chesterfield. With a televised FA Cup First Round tie against Blackpool on the horizon, the Ravens will be looking to carry some momentum into a tricky fixture against a League One giant. LAST TIME OUT Bromley were victorious against the Cards in early May's eliminator, with a first half Rohan Ince goal cancelled out by a Michael Cheek penalty, followed up by a Deji Elerewe header. Woking completed the league double over the Ravens last season, with goals from Reece GregoCox and Rhys Browne enough for a 2-0 away win at Hayes Lane in November, before February's 2-1 win over Andy Woodman's side, courtesy of goals from Scott Cuthbert and Jim Kellermann to cancel out Mitchel Bergkamp's opener. This was a rare feat for the Cards, who previously hadn't beaten Bromley at the Laithwaite since the

2019-20 season, and not at Hayes Lane since September 2011. Woking have won 9 of the 22 meetings between the sides, with 3 draws and 10 Bromley wins.

ARRIVING AT THE STADIUM Kingfield Road turnstiles – blue and yellow entry opens two-and-a-half hours before kick-off, unless otherwise stated.

In the previous season, following their relegation from League Two, Southend were beaten 2-0 by Woking at Roots Hall in October 2021; goals from Tahvon Campbell and Max Kretzschmar were enough to defeat Maher's side containing former Card Kacper Lopata. The reverse fixture in February 2022 went the Shrimpers' way, with a five goal thriller seeing Southend edge it 3-2 at the Laithwaite in front of the BT Sport cameras, with Harry Cardwell getting the winner.

Westfield Avenue turnstiles - red and orange entry opens two-and-a-half hours before kickoff, unless otherwise stated.

TICKET INFORMATION Adults: £20 Concession: £15 Next-Gen (17-22): £12 Under 17 (14-16): £8 Under 14 (13 & under): £5

Away supporter turnstiles - white entry opens two hours before kick-off, unless stated otherwise. Supporters who have purchased a hospitality package will have green entry and should enter through the Guest Entrance, Kingfield Road. Supporters are reminded to arrive at the Laithwaite Community Stadium in good time, and are not guaranteed to gain entry in time for kick-off when arriving less than 30 minutes before kick-off. FOOD & DRINK AT LAITHWAITE COMMUNITY STADIUM The Cardinals Bar is located at the front of the stadium. The bar has full draught and bottle beer options. The Fan Zone is the newest addition for supporters and is located opposite the Cardinals Bar. Moaners Corner Café is located next Moaners Corners Stand, with hot and cold drinks, plus snacks available. The Seymours Community Stand has hot food options and a last lane for beverages. CLUB SHOP The Club Shop is open two-and-a-half hours before kick-off, located by the Fan Zone. The shop is also open Mon - Fri, 10:00 - 16:00, upon check-in at reception.

ounded in 1892, Bromley were Isthmian League regulars for much of the 20th century, winning it twice in the early 1900s, before two more titles in 1953-54 and 1960-61. However, it would take until the 2006-07 season for the Ravens to join the relatively new Conference South after they were promoted in the Isthmian Premier Division playoffs on penalties at Hayes Lane against Billericay Town. Fast forward to 2014-15 and Bromley were crowned Conference South champions, promoted alongside playoff winners Boreham Wood. After the departure of manager Mark Goldberg in February 2016, former Card Neil Smith took interim charge, and was handed the role permanently in April 2016. It would be until March 2021 that Smith would take the reins at Bromley, when he was controversially relieved of his duties despite having taken the

Ravens to the verge of the playoffs. Enter Andy Woodman, who managed to secure a seventh place finish that season, before a famous FA Trophy win in front of Hollywood royalty against Wrexham at Wembley in 2021-22. Woodman managed the Ravens to another seventh place finish last season, with Woking defeated in the playoff eliminator, before Bromley were narrowly beaten by Chesterfield in the semifinal. If further success is to come his and Bromley’s way, record National League top scorer Cheek is going to play a big part. Signed from Ebbsfleet in July 2019, the now 32-yearold striker has 137 goals in 342 total National League games for the Fleet, Bromley, Dagenham & Redbridge and Braintree, with 76 in 188 games for the Ravens alone. Already with seven so far this season, Woodman will hope his star man can propel Bromley to the EFL.

HIDDEN DISABILITY INITIATIVE

SUNFloWER laNYARDS

W

oking Football Club is proud to announce the launch of a hidden disability initiative for matchdays at the Laithwaite Community Stadium.

There will be a stall within the Fan Zone at this Saturday's fixture against Solihull Moors for supporters to access further information about the programme, raise awareness, and ask any questions.

Globally, one in six of us live with a disability. Whilst some disabilities are visible, many have non-visible disabilities that are not immediately apparent to others; the most widely known being Dementia or Alzheimer’s.

The Cards Trust has kindly provided 100 sunflower lanyards that will be made available free of charge to any supporters or their carers that request one, to help encourage inclusivity, acceptance and understanding. The lanyards will first be available within the Fan Zone and then from the club shop and reception.

Without a visual cue, it can be difficult for others to identify, acknowledge, or understand the daily barriers faced by people living with an invisible disability. For some people, this can make it hard to understand and believe that someone with a non-visible disability or condition genuinely needs support.

A sunflower suggests happiness, positivity, and strength as well as growth and confidence. The lanyards are universally known and supporters will already be aware of their promotion at airports, railway stations, shopping centres and more.
