Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Haute Route Ventoux. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make sure everything is in place so you can live an experience of a lifetime around the legendary Mont Ventoux.

Part of that process is the publication of this Roadbook. Its purpose is to provide a comprehensive guide outlining all the information you will need during the event, both on and off the bike.

• Check out the live page on the Haute Route website (hauteroute.org) as the event unfolds. Live updates from the course will be published along with the day’s results, rankings, intermediate times, video content, photos, rider blogs, news and more.

Daily results and overall Solo and Team classifications will be published on the homepage of our website as soon as possible after each stage. Split times on some of the course’s main ascents will also be published.

• The best of the content will also appear on the Haute Route’s multiple social media platforms: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Share your performance using #hauteroute during the event and invite your friends and family to do the same to cheer you on.

PhotoRunning offers you the possibility to have your photos automatically posted on to your Facebook wall for free at the end of each stage. It is important to be aware of all the Rules & Regulations of the Haute Route Ventoux which include timekeeping & rankings, time limits, equipment allowed, safety, medical and personal assistance, anti-doping and other important topics. By entering the Haute Route Ventoux, you commit to respect the environment and the natural areas visited. It is strictly forbidden to leave any type of waste (paper, plastic packaging etc) on the course. Any rider caught throwing waste on the course will be disqualified. Key points: • Ride on the right hand side of the road • Respect traffic signs of the Haute Route • Respect traffic lights if there is no marshal present • Respect other road users (not involved in the event) • Wear a hardshell helmet at all times • Wear your bib on your back • Position your frame plate on the front of your handlebars

protest Any rider wishing to protest his/her timing or report an infringement by a competitor should fill out a protest form available at the Info Point within two hours of finishing the stage. The protest will be considered by the organisation team. Adjudications will be displayed on the main information board at that evening’s rider briefing.

equipment check The following equipment is mandatory and must be presented by every rider during registration to pass the Equipment Safety Check prior to collecting your bib and registration pack: • Hard-shell helmet • Long sleeve thermal jacket • Thermal overshoes • Leg warmers • Full finger winter gloves

technical assistance Replacement parts, spares and accessories: Mavic will not provide spare parts. Although there may be some bike shops close to the course, we recommend you bring specific spares including: • A rear-mech hanger • Allen keys specific to your bike • Spare brake blocks (front and rear) • Inner tubes with the correct length valves and CO2 cans or a pump

Assistance on the Course • Mavic is the only party authorised to provide assistance on the course outside of designated feed stations. Riders receiving outside assistance - mechanical or otherwise - are liable to penalties and ultimately disqualification • Every participant is expected to be self-sufficient in case of a puncture If you suffer a mechanical, please be patient and inform the driver of the closest course vehicle - they will inform Mavic.

riders' extra services heroin: test the best Every day, get the chance to experience the ultimate machine in real conditions. Simply pop into Heroïn Bikes area to book your test and get your bike ready for the next day. You’ll then have the choice to ride the whole stage or just a portion. Each test rider has a chance to win a Heroïn Bike (11,900€). Simply share a picture of you featuring the bike during your test ride. More info to come on the Haute Route Facebook page.

infocrank Carefully managing your effort is critical to your success. Come to the InfoCrank® tent at the event village for advice and real-time insights on every one of your pedal strokes and how to ride tomorrow’s stage. Bring your head unit and they will assess your data.

bike rental France Bike Rentals (FBR) provide a top-spec bike rental service during the event. Pick up your 2017 Madone 9.5 Dura-Ace, Edmonda SLR 8 Dura-Ace or Domane SL7 Di2 directly at the start village and return it at the end of the race. Rental bikes come with a complete check up and new tyres. Concierge services (see below) are included in the rental price. N.B.: Should your bike be damaged during your flight or fail to arrive, you’ll be able to rent a bike from FBR. Similarly, if your bike breaks during the event you can rent a bike from FBR to ride the remaining stages.

event village in bedoin All riders are required to register in the Haute Route Village on Thursday 5th October between 2pm and 10pm. The village will be located at Place de la Vigneronne, Avenue Barral des Baux, 84410 Bédoin.

how to get there TRAIN: The closest train station is Carpentras, located at 15km from Bédoin. There you can take the bus Mont-Ventoux to Bédoin - Barral des Baux (20-minute trip every 4 hours). Bédoin is also located near to Avignon high-speed TGV train station (45-minute drive). PLANE: If you are travelling from outside of France, then flying into Marseille Provence or Montpellier Méditerranée is likely to be the quickest way to get to Bédoin. Then you can rent a car and drive 1hr10 or 1hr30. From Marseille, you can also use the bus 17 to Carpentras (2 hours - 3 times a day) where you will take the bus Mont-Ventoux to Bédoin - Barral des Baux (20 minutes - every 4 hours).

If you need to purchase extra kit or a helmet, Mavic’s retail truck will be parked nearby. • Heroïn Bikes: Come over to the Heroïn Bikes area and discover the HR, the ultimate bike to tackle the Haute Route challenge. • InfoCrank®: The InfoCrank® experts will review your pacing and give you valuable personalised advice for the event. • France Bike Rental: Premium bikes are available for hire from the France Bike Rental booth.

first day operations Here is some advice and information we'd like to share with you and that should help you on the first day. The Village will be open between 2pm and 10pm. Be onsite the soonest you can to make sure you follow the steps outlined below and visit partners’ and exhibitors’ booths.

Assemble your bike at the set-up area and use the secure bike park while you complete the steps below.

Present the following mandatory equipment to the organisation, before being allowed to proceed to bib collection: Hard-shell helmet, long sleeve thermal jacket, full-finger winter gloves, thermal overshoes, leg warmers.

Collect your bib and Haute Route Ventoux welcome pack (you will need one form of ID).

Once you’ve collected your welcome pack, attach your bike plate on to your handlebars. It is forbidden to alter, cut or fold your bike plate.

Attend the first briefing of the week taking place at the Centre Culturel Le Cours at 7pm or 8pm (depending on time assigned when collecting your bib). Attendance is mandatory. N.B: The event support briefings mandatory for friends and family following the event by car will take place at 7.30pm and 8.30pm. To start the Haute Route on the right foot you can enjoy the Pasta Party which will take place from 7.15pm at the Village. You can attend either before or after the briefing. It is mandatory for riders to present their Haute Route ID card to attend the Pasta Party. Tickets for Friends & Family are available to purchase at the Info point in the Village for 15€. Finally, don’t forget to pick up your bike if you used the bike park. There is no secure bike park overnight.

massage process • Book your massage at the Info Point. • You will receive a massage ticket indicating your allotted time slot for your massage that day. • Please arrive with your ticket, 5 minutes before your scheduled massage time. Late comers and riders without a ticket will not be treated. • Bring your towel to place on the massage table. • Massage will last 15 minutes.

he town of Bédoin is located in the French area of Provence; built around the Colline Saint-Antonin it is constituted of a number of beautiful hamlets surrounding a charming town centre.

The Ventoux massif is home to a diverse and protected selection of wild flora and fauna living in one of the most unique ecosystems in the world. Bédoin is renowned for its AOP Ventoux vineyard, its quality of life in a gorgeous nature and its dynamic and welcoming population. People come from the world over to visit the tourist-friendly town. On top of the incomparable cycling, visitors can enjoy local restaurants, shops, vineyards and tourist attractions. The Monday morning market is known for being one of the best in Provence.

The town’s DNA is inextricably linked to the land upon which it is built, and to the mont Ventoux. The 9103 hectares of communal land stretch from the southern side of the mont Ventoux itself to its summit which stands at 1909 m above sea level. Bédoin is also home to the biggest communal forest in France (6300 hectares).
